Chaos or Cosmos?

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 4, 2011

What a fascinating discussion going on the last post about the universe being inherently good. And even more intriguing, the example that happened right after.  Please indulge me a personal story…

Monday was the flight to Hawaii.  Had the boarding passes already printed and figured to rock up to the gate two minutes before boarding as usual.  Forgot that I had a bag to check…

When the skycap tried to get the tag, the flight was already closed out.  Even a bribe of $50 couldn’t get it done, because AA locks down the computer.

Last time this happened there were 500 people waiting for a seminar, and it cost me almost 30 grand to hire a private jet.  Hawaii would easily be triple that, and I didn’t have any programs, was just meeting friends for a tropical Mastermind.  So that created a dilemma…

Take the flight and throw away the bag, or miss it and hope to find space the next day?  The latter being very unlikely, since this it’s peak travel week there.  But here’s the funny thing…

For New Years I was practicing the vacuum law of prosperity.  Cleaned out the medicine cabinet, under the sink, and all the dresser drawers.  Came up with a bunch of clothes I hadn’t worn in forever and decided to give them away.  But since I was packing for the trip, decided to take them on the trip, repurpose them in Maui, and not have to bring another bag home.  So instead of the snazzy D&G tote, I threw them in a swag bag some company gave me that I could just toss or leave for the maid.

So it was an easy choice.  Crammed a few more aloha shirts in the carry on and ditched the rest at MIA.  (Although tragically, did have to part with my fave flip flops.)  Rocked up to the gate, slipped into the seat, and within minutes we were winging our way to the land of orchids and aloha…

God is good all the time.  And all the time, God is good.

Thanks for the indulgence.  Now let’s look at the more serious side of this topic...

A number of you related stories of recently losing loved ones or other serious tragedies you’re facing.  And truth is, those things happen to all of us.  Some are minor inconveniences, some set back our timetables, and some are downright devastating.

Here’s what I see on this…

When you have faith in the natural order of the universe, you expect good things to happen.  And they usually do.  That doesn’t mean some rain won’t fall.  But if it never rains, the flowers can’t grow.

When your mind is calm and harmonious, it reflects life truly like a still lake.  When your mind is confused and troubled, it distorts the reflection.  When you have faith and are at peace, you gaze serenely into a good and just universe.

Now this is not meant to diminish the sorrow some of you have experienced recently or the challenges you may be going through right now.  I am truly sorry to read what some of you are going through.  And let’s be real:  If I had lost a loved one over the weekend, I certainly wouldn’t have chosen this topic, this week.  But we must look at the big picture…

If you are experiencing sorrow for someone you lost, that is normal.  Let it wash over you and honor them with your feelings.  But please don’t let the sadness replace all of the joy and goodness you experienced with them either.  Celebrate the time you had together.

And do the math:  For every funeral you attend, remember how many living, loving people are still around for you.

I said yesterday I wouldn’t change anything in my past and really meant that.  If my business wouldn’t have been seized by the IRS, I’d still be working 18 hours a day in a dreadful job.  The dysfunctional relationships were the wakeup call to let me know how much work I needed to do.  And when you have faced down almost certain death, you appreciate each day with a joy you can’t find anywhere else.

When I’m thinking right, I always manifest a parking space, catch the plane, make the deal, hit the home run, crush the speech, experience the love, and discover the joy.   And when I’m thinking wrong, I always hit the red light, drop the ball, catch the cold, say the wrong thing, or hurt someone I love.

Truth is, you can’t control everything and right thinking won’t inoculate you from ever having bad things happen to you. Shit happens.  To all of us.   But right thinking allows us to weather the storm much better.

We need earthquakes, tsunamis, tornados, floods and hurricanes, because they keep the universal order of this big round ball we’re orbiting around the sun on…

Hawaii is only here because of volcanoes erupting…

The orca eats the cute baby seal for lunch…

The tranquil mind is the exalted mind.  When you are strong enough to overcome your own challenges, you have the opportunity to help and inspire others to overcome theirs.   There is great joy in that.

When your mind is calm, you handle the trials, roadblocks, and emergencies with aplomb.   When you’re attacked with lies, slander, or indignities, you choose to be divinely gentle and eternally strong.  You choose to be greater than your challenges and thus become great.

The calm mind is born from great spiritual strength.  And that’s why we have to always be working on ourselves…

Keeping our mind in harmony with right thinking.  Choosing to control our own programming and play the positive channel.  When you center yourself with repose, you find calmness in the storm, inspiration for your faltering feet, and comfort in your hour of sorrow.

It’s sometimes not easy.  It’s not supposed to be.  Because these are the lessons we get from Universe University.  Repose is the flower of self-control.  It happens when you become the thinker of the thought and have faith in the ultimate good.  It is gained step-by-step, passing through the fires of suffering, subjecting your mind to the process of purification.

That is the journey we are on.  And it is a joyous one, if we choose it to be.

I’m working on me.  I hope you’re working on you.

  1. Thanks Randy, timely words for the new year. I have recently truly come to understand the term 'you take you with you no matter where'. It's funny when you expect things to change because you think you are doing the work on you but the truth is the universe is doing the work through purification and our job is to stop resisting and stay focussed on the good in the universe. Shit will happen - yes - and we all have the right to choose what it means. The hint is to choose, to consciously and critically choose to think better of the situation. Sometimes it's hard, and it's supposed to be. That is the test, the purification moment when the universe has provided an opportunity to truly grow and expand. My learning continues. I have enrolled in multiple mind/consciousness expanding classes this year and will always work on me. Thanks for sharing Randy.

  2. Thanks for that Randy!

"When you have faith in the natural order of the universe, you expect good things to happen. And they usually do. That doesn’t mean some rain won’t fall. But if it never rains, the flowers can’t grow."

Amazing takeaway! Right between the eyes!
    Thanks again!

  3. sir, i loved your post! when im at peace with myself and think of the inherent goodness of the world i feel so content. but when i come in contact with people who are annoying people, my peaceful being gets disturbed. is it possible to always remain in repose inside inspite of disturbing external affairs?

  4. It is of course perfect order.

The question is perhaps more if you like the outcome. How do you want to experience this reality?

The Haiti quake and the BP oil spill for example was perfect order, even though they were manipulated events. That doesn't mean you like the outcome, and it could have played out differently, with another sequence of events, in perfect order. Actually, in some parallel reality, those events never happened.

Here we allow these things to happen, regardless of how. I'm not impressed. So even manipulation is perfect order, but obviously at the ignorance of most of the affected, at least until after the fact.

Just know that you can change the past as well as the now and the future. It is all energetic in the here and now. Replay the scenes until you get them right, for you.

That doesn’t mean you can bring back people from “the other side”, because that is basically their choice, not yours.

But don’t acquiesce with your own enslavement.

You are the most fascinating person you know and you are also your own best teacher.

  5. Great piece (peace), Randy. I have come to truly appreciate and have gratitude today for all my struggles and losses in life, and they have not been small. When I learned to move from victim to survivor, from letting my 'story' be the reason I failed to my 'story' being the reason I would succeed, life completely flipped on me. I, too, wouldn't change any part of my past - it's what fuels my spirit today. Thanks, man.

  6. Hi

Wouldn't it be true to say that our purpose is to reach higher, to aim spiritually at that with the highest frequency? Or is does purpose always relate to the material and mental realm?

I like your way of thinking Randy. That you question religious dogmas. The dichotomy of your faith: that the Universe is good-evil separated. But I don't know. Doesn't acceptance surpass it?

As I've stated before once I trained myself to become a psychotherapist. For a year every month we had one weekend the whole weekend set aside to just do exercises to ttain our feelings. We have resistance to feel out feelings. Some are good feelings and some are bad feelings it was said. And especially the feelings we call bad feelings are the ones that people have the most resistance to feel. That could be feeling sorrow as some of you are going through right now after the loss of a dear one. I find it fundamentally human to be able to feel the emotions the other is going through or as close to. It is doubtfull if we ever can guide another person or a tribe if we havn't experienced it ourselves first. But even back then neither did I ressonate with the label good/bad (as i didn't with the label worthiness issues). The emotions and experiences we are having are real. But whether what it is is good or bad or whether the universe is inherent sacred or evil in my view must be a human evention, something we just made up.

Thanks for the eyeopeners and thanks for creating this "sacred" space!

I think I stick to what was being written in the dialoque of the blog posting yesterday: that true power come from knowing whatever happens you still have your faith.

Love and Respect Pierre Leyssac, cph

  7. Randy, your perspective is so clear and honest. Ultimately I think that it is the honesty that brings about the peace and tranquility. Right thinking brings about right living. Thank you for the inspiration.

  8. Thank you. What I reallly got out of this for myself is trust the "Life Process" and give up the attachment to anything --- something to our greater and better good is ALWAYS waiting in front of us, though vision may be blocked by fears and insecurities.

A simple example for me -- I got computer virus yesterday, the first time ever. And I need my computer today for a couple of new member launches. I was stressed and upset -- looking to the past as to where and how it happened. Tried everything I knew to remove the virus. Finally, I just stopped, did affirmative prayer, and went bed. This morning when I turned on the computer, the SOLUTION came to me instantly -- and in 10 minutes, the virus was removed.

Letting go and letting the Solution come as the solution ALWAYS AND ALREADY exists. Thank you for your posts. Look forward to meeting you in California.

  9. How beautiful. I feel like you wrote that just for me because I lost my father just before Christmas and hadn't been following your blog as usual. First post I tuned into upon my return was this one.

Happy New Year Randy and thanks for the consoling words.

  10. I would like to add a thought about what Randy said about having a calm mind. He said "When your mind is calm, you handle the trials, roadblocks, and emergencies with aplomb."

I engaged in an exercise long time ago that has helped me stay calm whenever I feel frustrated. I've been able to program the first 2 paragraphs into my subconscious mind written in the chapter on Serenity in As A Man Thinketh. It starts with "Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of the mind...." Whenever trails come up in my life, I repeat these 2 paragraphs immediately and my whole body becomes relaxed and stress free. If you have a chance read this chapter in As A Man Thinketh and try this exercise.

  11. Randy, I have a feeling you and I both need to work on repose and being divinely gentle. Becareful going swimming there, sometimes the surf can be really rough.

  12. Hey, by the way, brillliant message about how thinking positive can effect the outcomes of our situations. I completely agree, our preceptions definitly can define our reality. I still think, luck and chance are apart of the universe.

  13. It's like you always say.."Let Go and Let God".. As soon as we are crystal clear about what we need and intend, it will show up providing we're grateful in advance and that we TRUST.

    Thanks Randy!

  14. Baby orca's? Could have done without that visual. I've lived through a few of those feedings with my life experiences. I'm sure I left them with heartburn though. Seriously, I think everything that is alive, is either growing or dying. I have been blessed with an inate desire to grow and give. I am always expecting the next progression. My experiences always take me to a better place of understanding. That is what's great about life. You never know what is around the corner, but if your belief is, as mine, you are excited about the evolution. Isn't that what this life experience is truly all about? Becoming the best we can be and learning to enjoy it moment by moment?

  15. Wow. Just wow. Sometimes we read something when the time is just right for us to 'hear' it.

When the student is ready the teacher shall appear.

    Thanks RG!

  16. A story about Buddha.. a woman lost her child... said she'd do anything to get it back.. Buddha said he could but she must go to every house in the village and if no one has lost someone then he'd bring the child back...
Of course she couldn't so she got Buddha's message...

  17. Thanks Randy,

Those were heart felt words and encouraging. I'm glad we're able to connect with you on this level. You rock!

I see now the importance of constantly being on top of our my thoughts and using challenges as an avenue to grow so i can help others.

  18. I have been trying, in vain, to get my husband "to get it" in regard to the vacuum law for 10 years!

TODAY he read your chapter on the vacuum law and the heavens opened, the angels sang, and a beam of light broke through the clouds to shine on him ~ HE GOT IT! Randy you got him to get, in just a few pages, what he's been pushing against his entire life!

    THANK-YOU! THANK-YOU! THANK-YOU!

It couldn't have come at a better time; our house was foreclosed on today. I've been doing cartwheels and he's been in a fog of depression and seized with fear.

The truth is, this house was never right. Everything about us buying it was wrong and we forced the issue and ignored the obvious. I was over it by the time the boxes were unpacked, and that was 4 years ago. Ive grown soo much in this time and am soo at peace with this. It's time to let go and see what is coming in it's place. He's been afraid to let go, so certain worse would replace it. The funny part, we are waiting on a check that would have paid the house off in full. My husband saw that this was the only way. I kept saying I didn't think it was. God's timing is perfect, and now none of that money will go to keeping a home we are not supposed to be in. God is good all the time. All the time, God is good.

After reading the chapter he raced to our garage and said, "Okay. It can all go!" No small feat as our garage could be on any hoarder show in current circulation. He loaded an entire truckfull this afternoon and we donated it to a new school that is opening this fall. They were thrilled with all the toys! That's just the start, he plans to finish the job this weekend when he's off. I am beyond words at his transformation! I honestly did not think I would see the day it would come. He's even been using the R word, RESPONSIBILITY. God is good all the time. All the time, God is good.

I love what you said, "When your mind is calm and harmonious, it reflects life truly like a still lake." I've been reflecting on this just TODAY! It's sooo true! From a place of true peace, I have seen people being so nice and committing random acts of kindness. I know they were there before, I was just missing them in the ripples of my vision.

THANK YOU for your daily wisdom and for your commitment to sharing it with others. I look forward to the day I meet you in person!
