Building Your Self-Confidence

Posted By: Randy GageMay 14, 2019

We’re usually good at recognizing cause and effect that is near and immediate.  But we’re very short-sighted at recognizing the chain reactions and aftereffects of our actions when they manifest down the road.

Whether your goal is breakthrough disruption of an industry, or creating a healthy, happy long-term relationship – you’re going to need some tenacity and perseverance.  The most daunting aspect of this for many people, is how they are perceived in the short term.

If you want to raise healthy, well-grounded children, you are going to have to be willing to go through stages where they resent or even think they hate you.  If you want to build a different kind of company that truly makes a difference, you have to be willing to be criticized, misunderstood, and even ridiculed.

You can’t wait for praise, because you may not be getting any.  You can’t count on being understood, because you probably won’t be.  You have to be willing to persevere, without those payoffs.

You’ll only break through if you possess the self-awareness to mine your self-confidence from inner metrics – the ones that you know matter most.

How are you doing on that?

The fear of all of that kept me stuck, or from moving faster towards it than I thought I should be. It's been a slow steady process, and I'm ok with that. Now I know I've been building my armor to endure it and the time has come. Perfect timing, Thanks

  2. This is so relevant Randy; excellent topic! The "one intelligence" has enabled me to discern the difference between :universal confidence; confidence that's evolved and emanates from internal metrics, and "situational confidence" perceived to be derived from "external and limited circumstances".
I took the leap and it revealed some major worthiness issues.

Those are being transcended through "vertical thinking". Very enlightening and liberating.

A requisite for universal confidence is to want it; the bulletproof confidence like you want clean air and deep breathes when you have asma. I'm happy to say I have travelled "light years" from previous versions of "self"

  3. faking it until I make it. i get glimpses but not everyday. I know there's at least 5 extra gears I have after getting out of my own way.
