Your Stewardship

Posted By: Randy GageOctober 31, 2010

Do you have a ring, locket, or some other family heirloom that has been entrusted to you by someone who loved you?  If you do, I imagine you treasure it, and preserve it for when you will pass it on to the next recipient.

But there are many other things that have been placed in your stewardship as well.  How you take care of them says a lot about your self-esteem, character, and prosperity consciousness.

If you walked into a public washroom and the faucet was running at a sink, would you turn it off?  Do you buy recycled products and recycle your own?  What else do you do to support the earth and leave it better for the next generation?

And here’s a big one…

The knowledge, insights, and wisdom you have been given.  Do you honor those who have taught you, by extending the spirit and sharing their information forward?  Or will it die with you?  Please take a look at all the areas of your life that you have been entrusted with something valuable.  Then think about your stewardship of them, and how you will improve it.

  1. I am environmentally friendly most of the time. I have lots of info to share. I have not found the proper ways to share it yet. I respect people like you so much. I read these pieces and watch the video and wonder how someone can put it together.

  2. I teach every day, Randy. Some to my official trainees and clients, some to my 11 year old son and other family members and some to others in forums I am a part of. Some of what I share is original based on my own life experience, but most has been passed on to me and has had a profound impact on my life. I believe it to be my responsibility, even obligation, to pass it on to others.

  3. I live near a high school, the kids drop lunch crap all over the place, I pick it up... like Jesus washing the apostles feet on the night of his arrest.. none of us should be too proud... for a pass it on tip.. I play Elvis Presley's Amazing Grace first thing in the morning.. great voice, great song, puts me in a good mood to start the day... find it on http://www.youtube.com

  4. So Randy, if I search my heart, I can honestly answer both yes … and no … to your question.

On a personal level, I am a mother of five children whom I love with all my heart. With most of them nearly grown at this point, I know and believe I have done my best job of offering them all the ‘good stuff’ I have to impart to them. I feel fairly certain if you asked them, they would agree. Most of my shared insights, values and lessons have been centered around the importance of family, being loving and accepting of each person they meet in their lives, being honest even when it’s easier not to, always being willing to extend a hand to someone in need – creating very good character in each one of them. Of this, and them, I am proud.

Now for the harder part. What I really didn’t recognize until only just recently is that I have also done a very good job at passing on something else to them … and that would be the example of a mother - a woman – a person - who has given herself away, over and over again (yes, even to them) to the point of self-sacrifice, until she ended up exhausted, with almost nothing to call her own – all in the name of selflessness. I have willingly, though unconsciously until now, played the role of the victim in my own life. With noble intentions, I diligently tried to keep the enemies who would accuse me of being “self-serving” if I dared to put my own happiness and success somewhere on the top half of my ‘To Do’ list, at bay, but alas it did not work!

Lesson: Unhappy, angry, attacking people will still act like unhappy, angry, attacking people whether you are successful in your own life and live your dreams or you don’t. My sacrifice did not change their perspective or how they treated me – only the quality of my own life … and the lives of my kids. Oh, I have ‘talked ‘ my children the principles of prosperity for many years, all right … but I ‘walked’ anything but that. Ouch.

So now, what will I do with this new found perspective? Plenty.

First of all, it’s my job to invite my children into the next phase of my own development – the one where I not only take responsibility for my own poverty, but now my own prosperity also. (This should be infinitely more enjoyable than the state I’ve lived in for the past 20 years or so!) What they choose to do with what I have to offer from this point forward is up to them.

Secondly, I am so filled with gratitude now – feeling pretty much like Charlie in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory who just got handed the golden ticket with my recent revelation in regards to my worthiness issues – I cannot help but be completely inspired to go forth and share this key to freedom with anyone else who is ready to grab it. Funny thing is, as soon as I woke up wanting to kiss the ground because I now know that my abundance is not an ‘if’ but a ‘when’, the heavens literally opened up and gave me an awesome business idea along just those lines. And as the story continues, the Universe whispered the perfect domain name for this business in my ear and when I plugged it in, it was taken.

Now in my victim past, that would have been the next sad misfortune in my struggling life – but this time, I calmly sent off an email to the registered owner and explained to him that I would be willing to buy the yet undeveloped domain if he would be willing to sell because I had a wonderful plan for this website.

His response? He wasn’t interested in selling it … he wanted to ‘gift’ it to me. That’s right. He said that if I did the research on the steps to transfer ownership, the name was mine, at no charge. Luck? No. Karma, I think. 

Of course, I wrote him back and thanked him for his generosity, letting him know that I had plans to one day soon compensate him in some way for his graciousness.

The last thing I will share here is his email response back to me in return …

    Kimbralee,
Excellent research skills! I will call GoDaddy on Monday, and make the transfer. I know you will make the domain name a success, and I thank you for wanting to return the favor, but please repay me by helping someone else. You never know who God is going to place in your path who has exactly what you need in order for them to move forward in life. I will contact you after I contact GoDaddy on Monday.

    Happy Halloween,
    Kenneth

And then, Randy, you posted this blog tonight.

Coincidence? Probably not … I believe, this is the beauty of how it all works.

      1. Wow, can I relate to this!!! At this late date I am beginning to learn how to be selfish and all my children are adults, also with others . I am still having issues with this, as I have lived unselfishly to my detriment. This is the most difficult issue with me now, but I am gaining!!!
I feel such a sense of freedom, and I need to find new, energized people in my life.
I am moving forward, bur maybe not as quickly as I'd like.
Thanks to Randy and all the bloggers!

        Genesta

        1. Genesta - Yes!
I feel you on the need to change the caliber of people you spend time with – I feel the same way.
It is amazing how invested even your own family can become in keeping you playing small ... I think they are so afraid to be left behind if you get ‘big’ without them!
I guess my approach at this critical time is to still be in a daily relationship with those whom are consistently in front of my face each day – and to model being as loving and graceful as possible with them, but I find myself saving and guarding my new, more ‘wealthy’ ideas and plans for only those whom I feel will support me 100%. And right now, if that is only a small handful of people – or none – so be it, that’s okay with me. I would rather hold space all by myself if I have to for my prosperity to bloom than to expose it to anything that might dilute it. It’s just that precious to me!
I told one of my daughters last night … I would rather have a lot of empty room to put good stuff in than a lot of crap taking up space … and I meant it! CRAP OUT!!!
Once your mind is there … your footsteps can’t help but follow!
I know you’re gonna do this!!!
Be selective because you are worth it!!! (repeating it for myself to hear too!!!)

  5. How about stewardship of the body? The physical being taking us through this go-around on this planet? I'm a dietitian and it often strikes me how people view taking care of themselves as a chore, not a joy. Myself included at times.

Of late, I'm wondering more about a physical prosperity if you will. Being in a mindset that makes the little things pleasurable and satisfying rather than exacting a penance or judgement. Rather than thinking we 'can't' have a glass of champagne to celebrate with friends, or we 'shouldn't' indulge in birthday cake with family, or we 'have' to take the dog for a walk for exercise, or we 'never' eat sugar, it might be liberating to tweek that thinking.

What if merely looking at these kind of activities with a postive mental state, one of allowing and enjoying, was enough? What if we were then free of the guilt and shame? Which lessens the need to abuse food or avoid activity. And that translates into worthiness. And that supports happily making healthy choices for our physical beings?

I don't know. Just thinking all this through recently. Physical stewardship.....

  6. Well I can honestly say that my stewardship of abundance and prosperity thinking is being shared. And most of all with my sister who as of recent has been having MAJOR breakthroughs which will lead to what she truly wants.

And yes to the recycling, etc. which is part of the lifestyle here in the SF Bay Area and has been for decades. I also do my utmost to help those with their hand out, especially if it's clear they are doing the work they need to, staying clean and are showing their gratitude for those that helped them by giving back.

As you've said repeatedly Randy, we can't out give the Universe and it's my belief that it's a crucial part of our 'stewardship'. Thanks so much. I'm grateful as always for your valuable insights.

  7. I think you missed one Randy, "Do you have a ring, locket, or some other family heirloom that has been entrusted to you by someone who loved you? If you do, I imagine you treasure it, and preserve it for when you will pass it on to the next recipient."
YOU are the heirloom that was passed on from someone who loved you.
Inanimate objects are just that, just an object.
You are the present and what you know the future. You may take your knowledge with you but you have an obligation to pass on your ancestors to your descendents.
