YOU Time

Posted By: Randy GageAugust 13, 2012

Last week on Prosperity TV I talked about the importance of setting boundaries.  (See that show here if you didn’t already.)  And you know who is the most important person you have to set those boundaries with?

Yourself.

I have learned this the hard way.  I always have ten hot projects going on and could easily work 16 or 18 hours a day.  But then I burn out.  So I have learned when to shut down the computer and unplug.  I read, ride a bike or play softball and forget about the world.  And then when I’m ready to go back to work, I’m refreshed and excited to do so.

So how are you on this?

Do you have some hobbies or passions outside of work?  Do you set aside time for the people who are important to you?   You don't find time for the important people and things – you make time.

And speaking of that, I’m on vacation this week myself, playing in the World Series with my softball team.  So not sure how often I’ll be posting this week, but I’ll try to check in now and then with some updates.

  1. Oh well, that's just great.  You are going on vacation.  You don't write us that much more anyway!  Comes a Friday night you don't write, you don't call, we never know where you are.

Go ahead break our hearts.  We will just stew in our prosperity troubles all alone.  No, really you go, we will be fine.   You might loose a few of us, but most of us should be okay......

    🙂 heehee

  3. Thank's Randy!
I really needed this. Never take time for myself - and feel bad if I do. It has been so anyway - until resently! I felt completely burned both out and down physically. So I decided to change that, and focus on myself and what I needed. One thing at a time. SO after having been a smoker for 36 years, I managed to quit - AND EVEN FEEL GOOD ABOUT IT :))))) I wake up smiling - because I made it! That and my thinking around it - thank's for your GREAT help Randy concerning the thinking thing :)))) Very grateful!
Besides this I also took time to be social - feels GREAT 🙂

  5. Awesome post!  I just took a 2 week vacation with my son and go surfing and hit the gym as much as possible.  You are a 100% right about burnout. I've watched loved ones lose their health and even their lives due to overworking.  Nobody ever gets to their deathbed and says I wish I spent more time working.  I say work smart and play hard, and always make time for your loved ones.

  7. These days I found myself thinking the same things every single day... "I have to DO something, have to work, I'll take some rest in the future but now I don't deserve it". And then I got ill. That was probably to give me a clue that there has to be some balance. I read this in you books or blog, but that was YOUR truth. Finally it got to me head... And I beginning to really realize that. And here it is! Another post from Randy Gage that is another omen from the Universe. And I am grateful 🙂

  9. I discover the importance of ME time last year. Now I'll set aside one day per week to do nothing. I'll go sun tanning and swimming. Engage in playstation 3, watch movie. It's for me
