June 5, 1967:
The nineteen-year-old state of Israel is surrounded by enemies who want nothing less than her utter extinction. The Soviet-equipped Egyptian Army has massed a thousand tanks on the nation’s southern border. Syrian heavy guns are shelling her from the north. To the east, Jordan and Iraq are moving mechanized brigades and fighter squadrons into position to attack. Egypt’s President Nasser has declared that the Arab force’s objective is “the destruction of Israel.” The rest of the world turns a blind eye to the new nation’s desperate peril.
Six Days Later…
The Arab armies have been routed, ground divisions wiped out, air forces totally destroyed. Israel’s citizen-soldiers have seized the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the Golan Heights from Syria, East Jerusalem and the West Bank from Jordan. The land under Israeli control has tripled. Her charismatic defense minister, Moshe Dayan, has entered the Lion’s Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem to stand with the paratroopers who have liberated Judaism’s holiest site—the Western Wall, part of the ruins of Solomon’s temple, which has not been in Jewish hands for nineteen hundred years.

I went out on a limb and I contacted Steven Pressfield a couple of years ago.
I got a response, and we talked about creativity and dealing with fear.
Now, I am not someone born into privilege, I don't have a college education or special connections.
I took this risk. It was scary. But it taught me a valuable lesson- if you can bring humanity and good ideas to the table, you connect with others no matter what your level of status or achievement is.

Timely post with just having celebrated Israel's Independence Day. I'm already a fan of Steven's work so definitely going to read this. Thanks for sharing.
Pressfield is one of my favorites. He provked me to become a Pro. Excited to read his next book.
I'm not an advocate of war.
However, If there are Prosperity lessons to be learned about victory from "conquering the odds", and it will deepen my appreciation of victory and fighting for my cause,
..and will help me attract greater prosperity and greater prosperity consciousness..

zimmermanbryan And I find it fascinating to learn that you read this post and infer that I admire war. Quite the opposite. But I respect the reality that there have been times in human history when it could not be avoided.

@j What happens when someone says "who needs you?" Ignorance can be cured... I used to be closed minded to; and don't use the interenet as an anonymous shield. If you believe something, then take ownership of it.
zimmermanbryan I don't thing war is something to be admired, but when someone set on destroying you, then it is better to be the Victor than the Victim. This is about the amazing will and belief in yourself (in this case, Israel's belief in itself). That should be admired.
@Yuppy zimmermanbryan I agree with you Yuppy that it is definitely better to be the victor. I guess it's just too bad that anyone, anywhere feels that war is the answer in the first place. If I use my prosperity mindset, I think there's plenty of good to go around, it's hard to understand why someone (or some country, or whatever) feels the need to forcefully try and take something from someone else.
Randy_Gage zimmermanbryan Thanks for responding Randy. You have truly helped me have a mental shift in prosperity thinking, but I still struggle with the big picture sometimes. I understand what you are saying about the reality that in history bad stuff has happened. I just often wonder why it's necessary.
I have to say that of all Steve's books, The War of Art is by far THE most important book. Those of us that realize just how MUCH we resist due to fear learn valuable lessons with this exemplary piece of work. I'll wait until the library gets this.. Thanks for the heads up RG!
