Why You Face Challenges

Posted By: Randy GageFebruary 27, 2011

A prosperous person is the ripened fruit of experience and wisdom.  She spreads her influence everywhere she goes, bringing joy to the hearts of others and purifying the world.  But that is a choice that comes from learning and growing from the challenges you face.

Never affirm that your circumstances or surroundings are against you.  They are never against you.  They are your stepping-stones to achievement of any kind.  The challenges you encounter are what allow you to ripen, develop that experience and wisdom.   And that’s what makes you prosperous!

  1. "She spreads her influence everywhere she goes, bringing joy to the hearts of others and purifying the world."

That's great. I've just been thinking about my work over the last few weeks, trying to figure out how I can earn more. I was thinking in terms of innovative, marketing, "unique selling proposition" etc... Then I had a thought. I should scrap all that and just focus on how I can bring more happiness to people, and the other stuff will start to fall into place.

Instead of asking, "how can I earn more," ask, "how can I be more valuable? How can I add more value?" Your desire to bring more happiness is one way to add more value.

  2. Reminds me of the story of the King who placed a large stone on a road and watched from a hiding spot.
Many noble man and merchants came to the stone and simply walked around.
Along came a peasant with his heavy load of veggies set them down and with much struggle and hard ship finally moved the stone from the road. Returning to his veggies he noticed a sash where the stone was and inside gold with a note from the King, the obstacles and challenges we face in life uncover some of our greatest riches.

  3. Yes. It's all about giving what you have been given. Wisdom, love, gratitude, grace. Life is lived to it's fullest when it's no longer about us, but about the lives that we are able to change by giving the gifts that have been given to us. We must become prosperous ourselves in order to give. It's then, that we are able not only to give of our wealth, but the greatest gift of all, which is who we become in the process. Every experience carries with it a lesson. It's up to us to choose what to make of ourselves from the experiences. I hope you all choose to declare your god given gifts and use them to change your life and going forward, those who cross your path in life.

  4. That is a very insightful and just awe inspiring post. I just dig the meaning behind that one!! "Never affirm that your circumstances or surroundings are against you. They are never against you" Man that's a very solid thought!!

  5. Apparently you have my upstairs hallway bugged, for I was just having this identical conversation with my 18 year old daughter!

And ... to add an extra bit of validation - she was complaining about how she dropped her cell phone into the water and was now stuck without any way for potential employers to contact her with job offers at this critical time in her young life -

    "Oh Mom - it's soooo Murphy's Law".

But, after we discussed the importance of not seeing things in the negative - literally the moment she changed her attitude about the situation, we went online with our carrier and found out she was overdue for an upgrade she didn't even know she was eligible for!

Guess who is getting a new phone tonight? 🙂

(ummm ... well, okay - we both are!)

And yes, it really works that way!

    1. I like your story KimbraLee. Hooray for new phones! You know that very same thing happened to my husband. He washed his jeans with his cell phone in them, (oops). Then when he called the phone service it turned out we were both eligible for new phones! Hey K how do you get little hearts by your initial? Love that.

PS Hope your daughter finds a really great job!

      1. Annie -

        Just saw this post.

It is a symbol insert in Microsoft Word. I usually compose my thoughts there and then copy and paste them here. I'm a thinker!

        ♥♥♥ Just for you!

  6. Really great words as usual Randy. I used to think the world was against me.... But have since learned that my biggest enemy is myself. I do believe that all struggles, challenges, obstacles and setback are really just setups for comebacks, and my best is yet to come!

  7. wow, thats great..

By confronting your sl called negative environment head on brings you to wisdom..

These are the lessons and experiences we are supposed to learn from

    Thanks

  8. Silence......I process my thoughts as I write.

I ask my higher self as I walk my path:

"What is the best reaction to the stones in front of me? Should I carry this one to gain strength" Should I walk around this one? Or if a stone catches my hand and traps me, should I cut off my hand (cut my losses)to save my life?"

    "Is there a wrong choice"?

    Higher self replies:

"Only in relation to your goals. Affirm your values, ideals and the answers will show themselves. No matter what you choose I am with you always even if you deliberately try to block out my light and block out my voice".

    My choice:

"You are connected to God and I want you and I to be one; My highest potential expressed authentically in my life".

"I move this stone and thank it for helping me to build strength so that no stones put before me will drown out your voice".

"I will dance around this stone and thank it for helping me to developing my creativity".

"And if a stone should be too heavy to lift ...within my own mind, of my own making or something outside of me, I will face the pain and cut myself free".

"Sounds good", my higher self replies. "Now let's see you apply that in real ways".

  9. Amen.

It all comes down to what we give meaning to and what meaning we give them.

You can have two people, experiencing the same experience and they will both walk away doing different things. How is that? Because they DIDN'T experience the same experience. It is the meaning behind it that makes the experience.

    It Goes:

Information (the thing that happened, the info we read/see)

Interpretation (the meaning we give it, the process)

Identity (this can make us question/impact who we are)

Intention (this new experience can give us a new way of doing things, how to use this information)

Initiative (what we are going to do from now on).

(And then it continues as you took initiative and that leads to new information).

  10. We create challenges to overcome them, not to succumb to them. A common phrase in the New Thought community is, "it's all good." I prefer, "it's all for the best." And it always is, regardless of my opinion about it sometimes. I also believe that the Universe is conspiring on my behalf, orchestrating events in my favor, supporting me in all ways. And it's so cool to see how it all unfolds.

  11. Well said. In times of trouble we need to look for the seed/opportunity for us to grow and become better than who we are. Wealth comes in all different forms and one of them is the experience of a circumstance that my appear to be negative but is actually a lesson you need to learn to propel you further.
