Why Religion is Evil – Part 3

Posted By: Randy GageOctober 12, 2019

In the last post we discussed the fear, judgment, hate and intolerance organized religion fosters and feeds.  Now let’s look into the next thing that makes it evil in my view  Which is…

The low self-esteem, fearful mindset, and worthiness issues which are produced in the believers.

These issues may be the most self-destructive and anti-prosperity result of all.  Whether we look at the Christian concept of original sin, the Buddhist 8-fold path, the Hindu doctrine of karma, the Jewish Covenant, or the Muslim Code of Law, they all are set up with the basic presupposition that you are a flawed being who needs salvation.

Just think about what a negative and disempowering mindset that is to possess.  You’re born defective and need to work your whole life to be redeemed.  Does that strike you as spiritual and empowering?

If this concept of being born flawed is what you are taught beginning at four or five years old, is it any wonder that you would grow up with worthiness issues?  Low self-esteem, fear-based consciousness, and a tendency to self-sabotage?

  • If you went to a Catholic school and the nuns told you that you were born a sorry sinner – what are the odds you are going to grow up with healthy self-esteem?
  • If you are a Hindu who believes this time around, you were reincarnated to pay penance because you were a horse thief in your last go-around – what are the chances you’re going let yourself be successful?
  • If you’re a Buddhist who believes you must go through 129 lifetimes to find enlightenment – and you’re only on lifetime 111 – what are the odds that you’re going to let yourself become wealthy this time?

I could go on almost forever, but you get the point.  You may find it hard to believe that you are self-sabotaging yourself in your 30s, 40s, or 50s because of core foundation beliefs you were programmed with before you were nine years old, but I see it all the time.

People with worthiness issues:

  • Blow up their marriages;
  • Sabotage their promotions or careers;
  • Fall prey to destructive addictions;
  • Destroy their finances; and,
  • Commit suicide.

And they have no idea that they’re doing it.  They go deeper into organized religion, desperate to turn their lives around, not realizing that it is religion which is causing their dysfunction in the first place.  LGBTQ kids are killing themselves in droves because they’re brainwashed by religious leaders to believe they are a mistake or even an abomination.  There’s nothing spiritual about this; it is unspeakable evil.

One of the greatest steps you can take to become healthy, happy, and prosperous is to do some serious critical thinking about your religious beliefs.  Analyze what subliminal programming you were infected with from them. There you will find many clues on what has caused you to create the results you have in your life right now.

The sad truth is, several billion people are members of a mind-control cult and don’t realize it.  Most of these religious cults mean well.  Some are more benevolent than others.  But the net effect they’re creating in the world today is ant-prosperity, anti-humanity, and thus evil.

We need a cure for religion.  We need to understand why intelligent, rational people willingly suspend their critical thinking abilities to enter a state of phantasmagoria, infected with mind viruses which cause them to practice self-destructive behavior.  That’s what I want to explore in some future posts.  Until then, please check in with your thoughts below.

  1. That great line in that Bon Jovi song, they say you're born with sin, well that's something I didn't have to lie, cheat, steal or win.. you ask logical questions like why did the dinosaurs get wiped out, why do kids get cancer.. if the eye is so miraculous why do people need glasses.. and they give the lame answer, oh God is so beyond our comprehension, don't question the why.. I like Buddhism out of all of them.. no dogma, although his followers sure have created some that he warned against, but he always said feel free to question what I teach and take what works for you and leave the rest and he had no problem with people getting rich.. I'm sure Buddha would approve what Bill Gates is doing..

  2. "You’re born defective and need to work your whole live to be redeemed."

    Isn't it similar to when the socialists / commies claim that you have to work in your whole life for the unfortunate (which is what you doing if you producing goods and services anyway) by withdrawing goods and services from yourself, because "others need more"? It puts you in the same fate as any other religion, because you just can't be that greedy to use a Ferrari, while others don't even have shoes (as if the two things somehow correlated).

    "If you are a Hindu who believes this time around, you were reincarnated to pay penance because you were a horse thief in your last go-around – what are the chances you’re going let yourself be successful?"

    Even if it is true and you were a former criminal in your past life, how the hell helps being poor in this life to redeem you? Aren't you redeeming yourself by offering endless goods and services to the humanity, with which they are better off? NOT DOING anything actually corrects your sin or what?

    "Most of these religious cults mean well. Some are more benevolent than others. But the net effect they’re creating in the world today is ant-prosperity, anti-humanity, and thus evil."

    I have no idea why you think that they "mean well". Denying the reality is evil. If you are honest to yourself, you know that what you advocating is false. Not being honest to oneself and still advocating mass murderous ideas has nothing to do with "meaning well".

    1. Religions are institutions, but those institutions are created by and made up of people. And I believe there are many of those individual people who truly mean well. People funding orphanages, giving medical treatment in war zones, running suicide hotlines, ministering to the poor, etc. Let's not paint everyone with one brush.

      1. True, but don't forget that most of the wars, orphanages are indirectly caused by them. What do you call if (at least) two nation's soldiers who know nothing about each other start to attack and kill each other, if not an utter failure, driven by hatred and poverty? If it would have anything to do with prosperity, these people would trade with each other, instead of kill each other.

        As I use to say, the sentence "the love of money is the root of all evil" killed more people than anything in history. It doesn't matter that they helping those people who sent by THEM to the war zone.

        So no, they don't mean well. They are evil and their supposedly "goodness" are just smokes and mirrors. When Russia attacked Ukraine, a bunch of entrepreneur gone there to re-organize everything, not the holy-criminals.

  3. although i never had to participate in an organized religion and im thankful, there still seems to be a ripple effect or system of beliefs through all the other avenues that are worth reflection.

    "you're worthy you're worthy, get up!"
    -waynes world

  4. "Apparently some people have been introducing fantasy stories and fanciful family trees that digress into silliness instead of pulling the people back into the center, deepening faith and obedience. The whole point of what we’re urging is simply love—love uncontaminated by self-interest and counterfeit faith, a life open to God. Those who fail to keep to this point soon wander off into dead ends of gossip. They set themselves up as experts on religious issues, but haven’t the remotest idea of what they’re holding forth with such imposing eloquence. It’s true that moral guidance and counsel need to be given, but the way you say it and to whom you say it are as important as what you say. It’s obvious, isn’t it, that the law code isn’t primarily for people who live responsibly, but for the irresponsible, who defy all authority, riding roughshod over God, life, sex, truth, whatever! They are cynical toward this great Message."

    Paul's letter to Timothy - from The Message version of The Holy Bible.

  5. Wow! By this criteria of Prosperity, I "sabotaged my own career" without even a clue that's what was happening. I was attending church every sunday to find peace, calm and hope. I have more work to do; on myself! Thankyou Randy!

  6. Looking for between you and I can discuss this in front of an audience. The article is filled with way too many nuances to spend the time writing out answers but I will deal with just one as an example of a premise that isn't true. I can only speak from my own background which would be Orthodox biblical Christianity as opposed to any other faiths. You saved that:

    "You’re born defective and need to work your whole live (sic) to be redeemed."

    Orthodox biblical Christianity does not teach that you need to work your whole life to be redeemed. You are redeemed because the Creator loves you and values you and sees you as precious in His sight. There is no work whatsoever. It is received as a gift. Is this evil? Not at all. It is a love story between a Creator and his creation. You do not have to earn your salvation at all. You do not need to work at all, let alone your whole life.

    1. Interesting points, religion is not God but a man made thing to control. Usually Male over Female and those who are weaker in one way or another. I hope that I am past that stage of my life.

      1. It's an exchange of power, not a giving up of it. Giving up temporary, finite power for eternal, infinite power. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to all, but not compelled on all. We all can choose to keep what we have or exchange it.

        Randy Gage preaches a gospel of prosperity and self-sufficiency not dissimilar to the gospel (little "g") preached by many "Christian" preachers today. It works here in this world to a degree, but it doesn't defeat death. It's just another type of religion... a man-created attempt to be righteous and fruitful.

        "There is none so religious as those whose religion is irreligion." - Chesterton

  7. I have decided to stay out of all of the current religions, Bible, and churches. There is some good in the New Testament, but there is also the the Old Testament and evil. My goal was to pull out the good parts, but it is mixed in with a lot of evil. Parts of the NT helped me and it was also time for me to leave, I thought about saying my own prayers & readings during Adoration, but I think the message was to leave... well best to leave to be truly free...to not be a slave to sin and evil... to not let others create you as an unworthy sinner.
    I think a healthy religion could exist where people could be equals, worthy, good, loving, kind, etc. How we were born.
    I think you have to create yourself each day, as often as needed.

    I feel like I graduated.
    You graduate but you have to keep working on yourself and moving forward. For others and future generations. Whoever is willing to hear and graduate. God exists. Eternal life exists. One Body, Mind, Spirit exists. You are born in the One Body,Mind,Spirit & can return... by becoming liked minded (equals with others, goodwill towards others and future others, loving-kindness).
