What Money Can Do for You

Posted By: Randy GageAugust 16, 2010

So in the last two posts we looked at my two friends, one poor and one wealthy, and discussed how that affected my own prosperity.  Rene asked “In which case would you be happier? Can you be ABSOLUTELY sure of that answer. Absolutely being without ANY doubt?”

Yes Rene, I can ABSOLUTELY tell you I would always be happier being wealthy.  I was poor for many years and while it taught me lessons and forced me to grow, I have no desire to go through that again.  And as I mentioned on Prosperity TV, money can’t buy happiness, but neither can poverty.

Yes there are many facets of prosperity that don’t involve money.  But even most of those are better with it.

Rainbows are free, as is the ocean and walks on the beach.  But if you have money you can be in an ocean front hotel room instead of staring at the dumpster behind Denny’s.

My condo in Miami Beach overlooks a marina, Biscayne Bay and has a view of the Miami skyline.  I could have saved $80,000 and bought on the other side and have a view of an animal hospital and supermarket.

Plus, there are so many things you can do with money that you can’t do without.  Some of the things money has done for me include:
•    Flying the Concorde;
•    A box at the Opera;
•    Season tickets for the Marlins;
•    Traveling all over the world with my softball teams;
•    Racing amazing sports cars;
•    Touring all the baseball stadiums;
•    Touring all the world’s greatest opera houses;
•    Being able to support my church and many charities;
•    Having an apartment on both sides of the world;
•    Getting great medical care, dental care, and holistic health care; and,
•    Literally thousands of other things that bring joy to my life.

What about you?  What has money allowed you to do?  How has it brought you joy?  What else would you do if you had more money?

Please share below, because the more in touch with this you are, the harder your subconscious mind will work to make it come about!

  1. -RG,

    More money let's see...
Not tickets to the Marlins but the Rockies YES.

All theses resent posts, I'm sure I may have missed it but what people are not getting is that you would also not have a close friend that has more money then you (I know only Bill Gates and God have more money that you.) that is a miserable SOB that that is negative and no fun to be around.

People money is just energy that we can use to exchange for other forms of energy in many different forms be that car homes charity etc.

So stop getting hung up on money is this or that it just is, what you do with it is the important part.

Buying something nice like an expensive home provides money "energy" for those who built the house and everything that goes into the house.

    Lack is Wack!

  2. Randy,
Whenever someone would say to me "Money can't buy happiness my standard response was yes but, it sure does make it easier. Must say I like your response “ but neither can poverty." better and I'm taking it, yes ok I’ll make sure to give you credit.
Money has allowed me to go scuba diving with sharks in the Bahamas, take my boys on a get away to Hawaii just because, even drive a race car at Irwindale speedway for the thrill of it. Like you I have been without, sleeping in my car without two nickels to rub together, and I like living life with money so much better.
My families plans for the money heading our way in the future include a tour of Italy including having 2 suits made in Milan, a second home in Jackson Hole, and funding college for my new grand-daughter.
Can't wait to read what comes next.
    Thank you
    Russ

  3. The ability to bring stories to life on the screen or a video game console.

Creating a different kind of media company that brings expression back into art.

Buying a car that's an experience.

    Being able to live anywhere.

    The list is endless.

  4. Randy, the last posts were about how to get a circle of wealthy friends, but you never once mentioned how!

You just mentioned a few scenarios and their outcomes.

Hopefully you will finish that idea with HOW before we move on and it is forgotten.

    1. These kinds of people may be being met at the opera house. There may be a higher purpose for the generosity shown there.

  5. Randy, you must be on the other side of the world to post a blog at this time. I've never been the first blogger. This post may be completely off topic but it is written to show the power of meme's - or mind viruses. I got together with an old buddy who is highly educated. He didn't go to an Ivy league University - he went to a world recognized, world class University. I stated my strong opinions regarding religion - "anyone adult human being that believes that Jesus Christ was the son of God, walked on water, calmed storms with the wave of his, and healed lepers by merely touching them has got to be either crazy or extremely lacking in common sense" - holy mackeral - his response was a knee jerk reaction if I ever saw one. You could see it in the facial expression and the tone of voice he had. I immediately saw what was happening and dismissed what I said by changing the topic to something else. I did not wish to get into a heated argument nor to upset anyone. The "Truth" is entirely subjective and perceptual. We all have to find our own Truth, and be aware that all that there is - is what we believe to be the truth. We should find a truth that , is at least, beneficial to us - and not somebody else.

  6. It really bothers me when people say money wont buy happiness. Although I know some very unhappy wealthy people it's not the money that makes them unhappy it's there chooses of how they chose to live. I know some very broke people that seem to be very happy.

I for one would rather be able to give from my heart not my bank account. I know I feel a lot better about myself when i'm looking good or in a nice car.

But the main key for me. I don't want to work till the day I die never really ever enjoying the true pleasures of this world God gave us.

  7. I agree with Randy. I have been both poor and had money and I can honestly say it is much better with it. The only thing I can say, is that money doesn't last forever. But it does make things easier for the time being. Many choose poverty by choice and that can be a blessing as well. My father pursued money for years and never got anywhere near where he wanted to be and that left him in a miserable state and bankrupt more than a few times. You have to push yourself, but if money becomes your GOD, you will never be satisfied. Never let your bank account define who you are, because you are much bigger than that. Zero's mean nothing if your heart is jaded.

  8. Look, money gives you choice, the freedom to choose. While being poor has its lessons and experiences, it has a used by date. There comes a time when you just want to just get on with things and for me one of the biggest hurdles had been money.

If I had money - I would travel; add better software and hardware to my studio. Make better art. Reach more people. See my daughter more often and be in a position to do some things which I know need to be done.

The funny thing is when you have no money your always concerned with it. Everyday is concerned by how much everything costs as oppose to enjoying your life and not really worrying about money… which all in all cause more harm when its not there and makes the pain go away for a little while until it runs out. This is because you think by buying stuff cheap you’re somehow getting ahead, its really quite absurd. Decisions come down to $50. Stress comes down to how much you electricity bill is. Personal comfort comes down to if you can afford to heat the house in winter.

To cope with this you usually have to lower your standards substantially. Which you get used to over time…

With more money I think I would do more of what I wanted which would allow me to be more like myself. I would really like that.

  9. Money allowed me to travel to 12 countries last year over a7-month period. My car is a joy to drive and I installed a good sound system in it a couple of years ago. I live in a very comfortable home by myself, (I don't have to share with a flat-mate), and I buy myself fresh flowers every couple of weeks. I bought a 5.1 surround sound system for my place earlier this year. I have some decent clothes and eat healthy, quality food and have money to pay for private dancing lessons. With extra money, I could buy a nice house with a lot more space, inside and out, some newer, matching furniture, spend money on home decorating, buy an Evo 10, a DB9, and an F430 maybe! Frequent trips to warm places during winter as well as skiing trips to the snow would be fun. I'd get a ski boat, trailer, gear etc. I'd buy a sports bike and get riding lessons. I'd also get more driving lessons from a professional race car driver. I'd buy more expensive flowers for my house, buy nicer clothes - many tailor made, hand-made shoes, (you've sold me on that Randy!) more beauty/massage/pampering appointments and dinner in fabulous restaurants, tickets to the ballet and symphony orchestra. I could go on, but that'll do for now.

  10. Hey Randy you say you like to be challenged?? does money really bring you that much??? the joke you got too much money when you got those habits...
I hit the big 5-0 this weekend.. had a ball... called a couple of my 30 year plus friends, laughed about how I was the first to hit 50 among us, told one buddy the story of Keith Richards getting busted in Toronto, got caught with an ounce and a half of high grade heroin, said to the Mounties, can you leave me some of that? Great junkie logic!!!

  11. I`d get laser eye surgery, dental implants, get a motorcycle license and a motorbike, boxing lessons, BJJ lessons, new clothes, scuba diving certificate, I`d go skydiving and bunjee jumping.

I`d also love to hear more about your friend Andy if possible - he sounds like someone we can learn alot from!

  12. I forgot to ask, when you were $30000 in debt what did you do next to make you a millionaire - not talking about the prosperity principles. I mean did you get a job, start another business or was it network marketing?

And what were your reasons/motivation to become a millionaire?

    Regards
    Ari

  13. Hi Randy

As always I love to read your posts, I learn so much from you and you always manage to say, exactly what I think about money. I don't understand why money has got the bad publicity it has and why people think you have to be hard nosed and cut throat to get it.

Like you I grew up in a poor area, I left school at 15 years old and always chased the dollar. By the time I was 32 I'd made a £1m, money for me has allowed me to travel the world first class, stay in the finest of hotels, buy a house for cash, and buy wonderful gifts for the people I love. I have been fortunate enough to be able to buy a motorbike for my ex husband, take him to the Maldives twice, buy him art work, take friends away on holiday and generally bring happiness to the lives of people that I love and care about. I love having money, I love the options that money gives me, I love the good it can do for me and for others and I also love the personal development that I can afford to take up because money can pay for some amazing courses!

When you go to a big MLM event or take the Landmark Forum or listen to a Deepak Chopra CD or any other personal development course, I swear something changes in your DNA! You are never the same person afterwards and I love the feeling of being with other like minded people!

Thanks for doing what you do Randy, I certainly appreciate it and it always brings a smile to my face when I read one of your posts! God Bless xx

  14. Having more money doesn't have to be such a big deal like some make out and can't seem to deal with cause they think they're not worthy.

For me having more money gives the best thing of all. Peace of mind to know you are free to do what you want without panic and palpitations about not having enough and being in debt.

Having more money enables me to be a much more generous person cause I can give freely to the people I love (and to myself)

The biggest one for me is knowing you have a safety net for when unexpected things happen. So many people live month to month and it causes so much unhappiness I want none of it!

I think one of the reasons Network Marketing is so powerful is that it causes us to grow to fit the money so we appreciate it when it comes. Oops am I on the wrong blog?

Anyway lots of you here know what I'm talking about and if you don't check out Randy's other blog!

    1. Oh Rachel, I so love the way you said this:
"I think one of the reasons Network Marketing is so powerful is that it causes us to grow to fit the money so we appreciate it when it comes." I agree!

  15. Money Money Money, such an emotive topic and a memorable song! I have spent quite a bit of time without it, but, was I really poor? Let's see, I had a roof over my head, food to eat, I went out, I had clothes and I even managed some travel through getting very resourceful. So compared to many I was actually rich. The actual problem was firstly not recognising the richness that already existed in my life. Then comparing myself to others who had more than I did. This has been a journey that has taught me what I truly truly need in life. And all the things I thought I couldn't have, I am discovering I actually can. Wealth and abundance are becoming my way of thinking now. The sense of desperation and neediness is gone regardless of what money I do or don't have. I am now working on creating an ongoing stream of income that allows me to be more useful to myself and others. Most importantly to have choices. Money is definately one way to create more choices quickly and easily.

  16. You are right. It's better to be wealthy than poor. Only the concorde you can not fly in any of the cases as it retired 7 years ago ...

  17. RG,
Money has allowed me to buy new homes, travel to Europe, take my son and family on trips. I don't think that any of these discussions are based on having money as a God. I think these discussions are based on having money period and the prosperity principles.

I am learning that when you do what you love than than all will follow. What God instills God fulfills. I was thinking that God never had to instill in anyone a desire to be a ditch digger. He knew there would be plenty of people who didn't follow their dreams would settle for that....
    Thanks,
    Jim

  18. Randy-

I would hardly describe your friend Diego as "poor." From what you said, he has peace of mind, which is the greatest of riches. That said, you can have both peace of mind and money. Lastly, King Solomon, the richest man who ever lived, prayed not for material wealth, but for wisdom, and all the riches came along with it. So I pray daily for ideas, wisdom, courage and the inspiration for right action. And mircales occur.

    Have a prosperous week- Joe

  19. Randy, what I've learned is that money has nothing to do with, well money. It's all about the value we put on ourselves and the services we offer to others. The people who don't own beautiful homes like you (and bitch about it), don't value themselves as much as you and other wealthy people might. I really believe that when we increase our self-worth, our financial worth increases too. When we value our skills and services, then we are comfortable charging for them and attract clients who will pay highly for them.

I remember an interview with Neale Donald Walsch saying it took him a long time to be comfortable with buying $500 Italian shoes. I think that's the key...what do you feel you deserve? What will you allow yourself to have? If you are getting 2nd best (or worse), then look at where you don't feel worthy of having anything better and clear out the subconscious beliefs that tell you you're not good enough.

The lack of money I experienced in the past crippled me from living to the full. Yes, I had the sunsets and all the amazing free experiences of this world and those are still my most cherished moments, but I could have been enjoying sunsets around the world, eating amazing nourishing foods instead of scrabbling amongst the discounted vegetables for a bargain, or filling up the tank instead of putting £3 of petrol into my car a time because that's all I had.

I'm on the path to prosperity now and I'm sticking to it! Cordelia

  20. You have no friend Randy......
Do you have any one which you could tell them your emotion? or cry or just tell him (her) the truth? Think Randy..... Are John Fogg or some others that you name them FRIEND, know you as a real friend? did you tell them lie or they tell you lie? if its true ....
they areb not your real friend...

    1. Dude. Get a life. Randy has more people loving him than anyone I know. He doesn't need me to justify this - but honestly, you're getting on MY nerves from your recent posts on this blog. Everyone is trying to contribute, and if you're not gonna be going in that vein too, go write on your own blog.

    2. hi a...
if you've been around for a while you know John Fogg among all could not not be Randy's friend have a look at last Christmas contests writing of his it tells it all 🙂

      Love, Pierre Leyssac, CPH

  21. It is certainly true that people don't value themselves, which of course they have to do first. Then they can provide value and money will come.

As Randy once said about Network Marketing:

"You have to make the first circle work for the other circles to work!"

Oops, am I on the wrong blog too?

Many people have more fear of success than they have of failure.

Now is the time to create the life you want.

To release your fear of success.

To reach out and claim what is rightfully yours.

  22. I believe that money doesn't make you happier, but it is the process of aquiring it that's important. If you doesn't have the skills or the mental energy to withstand all that money, it will vanish. But if one has enough energy to make money happen, it will be sustained.

  23. Randy, since I startes reading your blog I truly have started to think in new ways and question all these "thruths" I've been living by... I appreciate you for helping me to do this. I don't earn a lot of money (yet) but I know that without the money I do have I had never been able to buy my house...

  24. The most appropriate quote is:

"Money can't buy you happiness, but it'll buy you a nice yacht to sail through the misery"
    David Lee Roth

    Enjoy!

  25. Money is freedom in green pants. It allows you to have more, do more and be more.

I have purchased a nice sports car, live in a quiet neighborhood and have the ability to vacation when I want because of money. Not a bad deal.

    Ryan Biddulph

    1. Do they have limiting beliefs, memes, worthiness issues, etc? Yes, I want prosperity, wealth, money, health, love, joy, wisdom... And I want to let go of my limiting beliefs... And accept abundance... In all areas of my life.

  26. you said very correct without money nothing is possible.but problem with world is that they run after money instead they should make money work for them

  27. Well Randy, I think you and I should sit together one day. Money has absolutely nothing to do with happiness as far as I can see. It's value that makes the difference. What do you value in life, how much do you value what you have in life.
The funny thing is; if you don't value what you have it disappears. If you do, it grows. And that is the trick. If you start taking things for granted they will disappear and if you happiness still was based on them, that happiness will disappear too.
True prosperity has it's roots in being grateful.
But that is my humble opinion and I will be grateful if you correct me if I am wrong.

  28. I want to have money because it would give me the possibility to make my sourroundings as beautiful as I wish them to be, I could eat the best food and travel when I want to see the world. And have a nice car for my family. And nicer clothes. And I guess the whole of it would make the differents:A new feeling for my life.Thank you.

  29. How has money brought me joy? Let me count the ways! 21 days touring Egypt and riding a camel, a wedding ceremony just the way WE wanted it, replace both of our cars, send boxes of brownies to my friends, donate to charities, holistic health supplements, some kick-butt-cool jewelry, this laptop I'm typing on, etc etc.

What else will I do when I have more money? I'll start with: pleasure trip to the painted caves at Lascaux, France. Pleasure trip to Australia including a tour around the base of Uluru (Ayer's Rock), attend Drum Corps International World Finals competition. Attend womens gymnastics finals at the Olympics. Hire a car and driver to take me to and from late-night business meetings. Visit St. Petersburg Russia during the White Nights and stay up for 24 hours. etc etc

  30. Hmm .. good one! Lets see ...

    - Being able to stay home and race my son
    - Visited 37 different countries (personal goal to visit 50 by the age of 50. I am 44)
    - Support my family in Cuba
    - Personally meet and participate in seminars with great teachers ... like Jim Rohn, Peter Drucker, Dalai Lama, Tony Robbins, Lew Brown, ... and off course, Mr. Randy Gage
    - Being in the Yankee Stadium to see the NYY win the World Series
    - Go to the movies with my wife and buy her ice cream

  31. Money consented me having a travel in land that i liked and i had ever desire to see them...
with money i can help lot of good associations and get more personal freedoom!!

  32. Basically, money is neutral. Readers may want to look behind the reasons that I state this before protesting. For all intents and purposes, money can:

1.) Give you the power to say YES

2.) Give you the power to say NO

3.) Ensure you have a comfortable living

4.) Buy you Valuable expertise (you must Value
that advice/expertise enough to initiate an
    exchange...) Like buying Randy's whole
Prosperity series & imbibing 'em all B4 attending
his MM council mtg, right?? ;=))

    5.) Change somebody's life

All general concepts relating to money are covered within these 5 points, including the lack thereof. Randy, you're doing plenty of good, getting other people's spark lit on no.5. Keep on ranting...

    Cheers.

  33. Hi, i just started to read your articles, and watch your videos. I've been working for a while on changing my thoughts about myself and reading you is a confirmation that i am in the right track, however I haven't seen much of results concerning money. Maybe fear is still bigger than confidence or impatience takes over peace, maybe I am getting a wrong approach to what I want in my life, or simply still unawarely grabbing on my old thoughts... Nevertheless, I am certain that good and wealth is the real life. I really appreciate your effort to show me my possibilities.

    Looking up to you
