What Gets You Stuck?

Posted By: Randy GageOctober 19, 2018

What is it that gets you stuck?  Keeps you at a certain plateau, treading water, instead of moving forward?

I’m back in Stockholm, keynoting for the Zinzino International Convention this weekend.  But last night I got to perform one of the best aspects of my job.  It was an intimate dinner with their top income earners, coaching them on how they achieve their next breakthrough.

The leaders in that room are some of the most successful people in the world.  But even they sometimes get stuck and plateau at some point.

Why?

Here’s what I’ve discovered, and shared with them.

It isn’t fear of failure.  No one gets to their level of success with fear of failure.  They got over that craziness long ago.  They know the opportunities in life are real.  And they know that when they do the work – in their business, and on themselves – the next breakthrough soon follows.

They’ve experienced the cause-and-effect relationship and know exactly how to transform temporary failure into success.  So how come they sometimes take a timeout, freeze their potential, and don’t go after that next level of achievement?

Fear of even greater success.  Because they’re afraid of the awesome strength of what they possess.  And that’s where we’ll pick up on the next post.  Until then, I’d love to hear any insights you have, in the comments below.

  1. So I'm thinking... it not realizing what they are "really" capable of ...because if they knew...they would do.. Just because we can't see it, doesn't mean it's not there. 🙂

  2. Dis-empowering others gets many stuck. Beliefs of inequality based on gender, color, ethnicity, age, etc. This shows up in wages, different types of abuse, etc. It also shows up in wanting a wife at home, unemployed, under-employed, and dependent on you. Or wanting to be that person that needs a man to live. Companies are making adjustments for livable incomes, maternity/paternity leave, childcare, etc. We still have to change the source that tells us that women are inferior to men. Men and women both have been dis-empowered with inferiority beliefs.
Dis-empowering students also gets you stuck.

  3. “Because they’re afraid of the awesome strength of what they possess.” These people afraid? You were there, I wasn’t ... But I firmly believe that reaching out to understand and work with others is the fundamental component of achieving success - for everyone. So I’m having a difficult time understanding why ‘theyre afraid’ since I can’t imagine their ‘awesome strength’ being utilized other than for good.

  4. Every level of success, requires an equivalent level of "self mastery" to sustain it. Possibly they are in a comfort zone where the next level of self mastery doesn't yet appeal to them more than their current comfort zone. From what you described their success current level is very UNcommon. so the question is: "can they live with themselves indefinitely, at that level, or can they challenge themselves effectively to move forward. Risk, reward & the "why factor"
