The Story

Posted By: Randy GageApril 29, 2012

One more post from Bulgaria, because something came up that has an important prosperity lesson to it.  It’s another look at mind viruses and how they can hold you back.

I did a lot of media interviews here building up to my seminar.  This began with a press conference 90 minutes after I landed.  The tone of the questions there was kind of typical.  Most of the journalists seemed skeptical about the prospects for most people to become successful.  This is a frequent response:  reporters are a skeptical lot, and often have many limiting beliefs about money and wealth.

Immediately after the presser, I was running to appear on The Slavi Show.  Slavi is a Bulgarian institution, with a late night talk show that’s featured everyone from Lech Walesa to Jean-Caude Van Damme, Mikhail Gorbachev to the Scorpions.  I was kind of shocked with his first question, however, which was how I expected anyone in Bulgaria to be successful, because “all Bulgarians are lazy.”  Now Slavi is their version of Letterman or Leno, so you expect him to be silly sometimes.

But the next day, I did two interviews at my hotel (one for the network news channel), and they both pretty much asked the same thing.    Then I did the “Frankly with Elle” show, a one hour one-on-one, similar to Oprah’s conversations.  Elle also asked if success was possible because of people being lazy there.  The next night I had a VIP reception before my event, and the same question came up again.

Talk about a powerful mind virus!

Yes Bulgaria has a lot of lazy people.  Just like the UK, Kuwait, Australia, America, and everywhere else.  But there is also a nucleus of dreamers.  People who dream of doing, having and becoming more.

Now Bulgaria has more negative mind viruses than the US for instance, because they spent so many years under totalitarian rule.  The programming from the government taught that individuals were worthless and the power was in the collective.  But that’s bullshit; it has no basis in reality.

Everywhere I went, it seemed people bought the story.  But not everyone…

Yes Bulgaria has lots of people living in victim-hood and lack.  But there were 2,000 of them that came to my event Saturday.  Two thousand people with a dream and willing to do something about it.

Many traveled great distances, and made great sacrifices to be there.  I was nothing but impressed with the passion, determination and love of the Bulgarian people, just like I am everywhere.

Bulgaria has an amazing history, breathtaking scenery and wonderful diversity and culture. (The pic is the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia at dawn.)  It’s a magical place with magical people.

Just like the place YOU live…

Everybody’s selling a story.  One story is that people are helpless and life’s a struggle.  The other story is that you have the power to change your life.

You have to be a critical thinker and decide what story you want to buy.

Those 2,000 people in Sofia are dreamers.  Just like you guys that come to this blog are dreamers.  And dreamers are the ones that change the world.  BOOM!

"Welcome on the continent of tradition, of no change pls. and let the world be the way it is otherwise go leave, go to America like everyone else did when he/she left, e.g. in the past centuries. We want this life to be the way it is because we like it! Or because we have to like it......"  😉
Reporters, journalists - do you recall anyone ever became "famous or wealthy in their job"? Guess, not (very many). Those who were on their way up got - maybe, killed.
Journalists seek the "truth" which you know of course and marketing, so called "wrapping", is more welcome on earth and in life than truth. 🙂

Plus, if you were attacked by ever journalist with this 1 question (Randy, what did you answer by the way? - I am just mega CURIOUS....) be aware that they accept people in their country with the right answer, the ultimate answer which explains & solves it all. And tradition, or: traditional thinking, carries the habit to ripp (?) your skin off for the great answer to help people out of their own chosen life. Limited thinking. Yes.
b.t.w., the Scorpions are from Hanover 🙂
I am happy for you that you met 2,000 people and I hope that probably 1,999 will do as you did - and turn their lives around. -->> From lazyness to power!
Glad you came, glad you got all the chances to talk to so many people about prosperity & abundance by own choice.
Guess supporting Bulgaria on how to turn form lazyness to ambitiousness would be a good 1st step to get them all out - a part-topic of your next seminar??? ... just thinking aloud....if it´s not already included  :))
    Have a safe trip!!!!!!!!!

  5. Too bad the collective consciousness of many Countries doesn't carry thoughts and belief that empower them. No wonder so many people start off  solo/separate then gain a large gathering because they encourage thoughts and beliefs that encourage us to become more than we were taught to believe.

  9. Hello Randy,
I am a Bulgarian who lives in US. I am so happy that you went to Bulgaria and my mom had the chance to attend your seminar. She was so existed talking about it afterwards.
I watched your interview with Slavi T. It was disappointing to see how little interest he showed in providing the Bulgarian people with voluble and inspiring information. He was more interested and entertained to make fun of his translator than to pay attention to his job.
I hope that you didn’t leave my home country with the impression that we are all lazy. There are many people in Bulgaria who are starting to "wake up" and look beyond the point of just surviving.
I am so thankful to my mother who told me about you over a year ago and I have been your fan ever sins!
    Thank you!

  11. Thank you, Randy. For the seminar, for the post, for your consistency and for your faith. I had been waiting for this event for a long time and I am extremely happy I attended it. Because you are in my mastermind group, I believe one day (very soon) I'll be changing other people's lives and discussing with you strategies for enlightening people's minds and giving them the chance to change. So, I'm already looking forward to seeing you in Bulgaria again. 🙂

  15. Randy Gage, thank you for taking the time and going through all the trouble of making a seminar in Bulgaria.I grew up there and know how tough the crowd there is.When I was 16 I stumbled upon a self-development book. I read it...read some more books...applied.I was last in my class. I read the books, applied, turned my grades from Fs to As.I set the goal of becoming a doctor - studying medicine right now (at the Cologne university).I said "Brother, read these books! they are amazing. They told me how to change my life!"...no interest.I said "Father look! those books! they educated me. Gave me a new point of view! look at the results I've got now"and there it started. "You american! You have no culture!" and then he proceeded blaming not the government but all the governments and stressing how evil the rich people from the west are. Coming to Bulgaria to steel, he explained. And the reasons why he's poor and sick are explained in on of your books."Bulgaria has an amazing history" - you should read more about it - they were slaves for 500 years and later on got into communism. They like to brag about their glorious past but are a shadow of the country Bulgaria was.For all the years I spent there I found only 3 persons, who were interested in reading self-development books. Most other people are like my parents or indifferent like my brother. So thank you for going to Sofia and talking to those willing 2,000 people - I bet that they will spread the word and bring some prosperity to other people who might be willing (a task most difficult in a place like that).
