The Seekers

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 9, 2012

Quite an experience reading the Inside Scientology book I mentioned in the last post.  As you know, I’m always fascinated with how movements and institutions program and manipulate people, because it’s such a big factor in self-sabotage behavior.

In fact, based on a conversation at a recent dinner party with a psychologist, I think my next book will be a collaboration with him, on mind control of the masses.

Movements exploit the seekers, of which there are millions.  Seeking is a noble and worthwhile pursuit.  The problem is when you look outside, instead of inside.  Instead of looking for an external factor to make you whole, you do the work on yourself that grows you on the path to enlightenment and prosperity consciousness.

True happiness comes when you stop trying to find yourself – and make a decision to create yourself!

  1. Randy, happiness comes when you stop trying to find yourself – and make a decision to create yourself!

Klick! As fitting, somewhere I accepted the church view, I am not the creator my life ... Consciously, I know that ... But subconsciously? No, you are not Creator. So what a ride!

It does not matter where I figured it out ... Importantly, the conscious choice that I make and I am the creator myself Thank you I will share it! What I read here and what I experience thanks to this.

  3. Randy, "True happiness comes when you stop trying to find yourself – and make a decision to create yourself!" is great, but I liked the sentence before it even more: "Instead of looking for an external factor to make you whole, you do the work on yourself that grows you on the path to enlightenment and prosperity consciousness."

Do you think it's the ease of the external factor (the "magic pill") that attracts so many people, while the "work" (and it is work) of self-creation turns them off? In other words, is the herd's fundamental problem sheer laziness?

    Great post!

  7. There's a great BBC documentary mini-series called "The Century of the Self" which is about how Sigmund Freud's findings on psychology were used to manipulate us by his nephew, Edward Bernays on behalf of corporations. It's not conspiracy theory stuff.Bernays' book on the subject "Propaganda" is in the public domain.

  9. Hi Randy

I really liked this post. I have always said if there was one word to describe me, it would be seeker. While we can gain great value from learning about different schools of thought,etc..., ultimately, the biggest progress will be made from working on ourselves and adopting better behaviors, thought patterns,etc...I think on a subconscious level, we believe that just absorbing information will lead us to change without having to do any of the inner work.

  11. Hello Randy!

As to mind control of the masses psychologists are as much responsible as religions. They all consist of individual persons using it the right or the wrong way as I see it. There are good ones and bad ones in all areas as there is in life in general. Depends all on how it is used and interprited by the single person. I've seen people follow blindly what a doctor or psychologist says, because that is the acknowledged institution of the society. Doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. I think there is good and bad things in all of it, and the most important thing is to learn to think and evaluate for yourself and what is right for you.

  13. Every time I talk to my brothers & sisters here in South Africa I just want to break down & cry. This is not a black & white issue anymore. I always tell people to get over it... But the apartheit regime really had a powerful effect on many people & that power still prevails.

The way I see it the person who came up with the idea of apartheit was a genuis in more ways than one. He knew to only defeat the masses by conquering their minds... Now today we have our gorvenment that manipulates the masses (especially the poor - 'can't believe I mentioned that word') & everyday there's a religious group/church popping up on every street corner. They've recognized the fact that most people are looking OUTSIDE of themselves for answers & they're just giving them what they want.

The majority of black south african are still trapped in their own minds...& the sad part about it is they defend their mediocrity with passion. It seems like they've closed their minds to exploring views that remotely suggest the answers they're looking for being inside of them already...

    Hope that makes sense...

Question Randy & the community: "How or where would you start to help people like I've just mentioned to open up & start realizing that they are the answers, they only need look within?"

    1. @Stevidore Stevidore you are the answer. Be a positive example. Be the leader to teach others how to lead. And remember it takes time and perservence, overcoming oppression is a process that can sometimes take a while to sort out. Maybe Randy will go there?

Thanks for sharing. I hear your sadness, and I am sorry. It is frustrating and sad to see others suffer.

    2. @Stevidore I agree with Annieb, the solution I believe lies in everyone of us. I know if I change, many people around me will change as well. After all, you can help everybody, but it's up to them to change, they're responsible for their own minds and you can't change their minds by force.

  16. Hi Randy,

How is Costa Rica? Thanks to you I have found myself.

If I could be the president of the world, I will ban all religions. But it looks like humans are rather happy to be manipulated. If not why would they follow one who doesn't practice what he preaches?

May God give you long life!

  19. Love that expression "True happiness comes when you stop trying to find yourself and make a decision to create yourself" well said. It took many years to realize that I already found myself or that I never really lost myself in the first place. It was just trying to decide who I really wanted to be now at this time in my life. Didn't realize that losing parts of Myself was a good thing, it was time to move on.

  20. It is a good idea to learn how to receive inner guide (ideas, inspiration, peace) instead of looking for someone or something outside that "guide us" according to their own interests

  24. Thanks for the reminder Randy. As a seeker myself, I think it's really important to be open to looking beyond myself and my own experience because the world is full of "triggers" for self-reflection and understanding. But we have to remember to stay curious and not be afraid to question an idea internally before we adopt it as our own, right?

BTW, I was listening to one of your audios on prosperity over the weekend and you mentioned Unity - this got me and my husband looking for one here in Brisbane - what we found was a group of people with exactly the same philosophy as us. Really thrilled to find a spiritual home at last. BIG thanks.

  26. It's why religion, some corporations, certain educational institutions, Unions and government get away with so much that is harmful by claiming to offer some "help" to "the little guy".People are looking for permission from a "higher" power.http://ascolibooks.com/bookstore/index.php?route=product/product&filter_name=god%20wants%20you%20dead&product_id=63"God Wants You Dead" is a book from a small press about critical thinking and questioning the "higher" powers in our lives. Available in eBook form. Worth reading.

  28. Randy I appreciate your works that I have observed. Your criticism of Scientology and other religions are not so pleasing though. For you give a blanket statement to condem them. I find this somewhat out of character with your other work. If you give judgements dont throw away the baby with the bath water. And realize with what judgement you judge you may be judged. Keep up your good work though!

    1. @DanGarballa I don't always agree with Randy, but usually about religion I do. I have decided that Randy is judgemental. It's just who is. It isn't really bad, to judge and make decisions about what you believe is right. And, Randy does get judged. I know, because I do judge him. So, I don't know where that leaves us. But, I think it's good to have decisive people around. Also, Randy is getting really good at dealing with his judgers. 🙂

It is important to not throw the baby out with the bath water, I suppose there is something good in everything.

    2. Hi @DanGarballa I am certainly open to being judged as I judge, and am every day. Which is always helpful for me. Not sure what I said here that you take as a blanket statement of condemnation though. -RG

      1. @Randy_Gage@DanGarballa Many struggle these days as they have always with so much information that has been passed down and received as law. I do believe that the times are calling for more to become free thinkers and develop their own set of beliefs over what has been used before. The old disclaimer, "take what feels right to you and use it wisely, the rest will help others who are not in the same space as you are"... I have followed you for a few years now Randy, and smile as I listen/read you now as I see so much growth in your own Spiritual journey as well as your personal life. I'm not in that place of feeling that the wealth of Money is in my flow yet the Universe has given me my own humbling path to accept at this time in my life. Smiles and Hugs to all here for in these forums we truly do learn.

  31. I didn't really understand this post exactly, at first. But, I was thinking it is kind of biblical. Not that I know the bible all that well, but I do know it some.... I think that it could be analogous to the teaching in the Bible of not worshiping false prophets.

One must understand good and right in themselves. I believe divinity is in us all. We have to listen to what that still small voice is saying inside of us, instead of depending on something outside of ourselves.

The first thing I thought of though when I saw this post, was that Dolly Parton song. Which I happen to love...

Randy I have been thinking about what you said about me being attention seeking. You were right, and knowing that has helped me out in life. So, thanks. I know I am a difficult student, but I am learning.

  35. Even if you've lost touch with your own intuition, there are big confirmation signs in professional numerology, hand analysis, astrology etc. Not to tell you what to do, but to give you the hints you might need. And not that you really need those either, which you will discover as well, because you actually know quite well what you should be doing, and when you go for that, the universe will work in your favor. That's where you need to trust the so called mystery and have so called faith. Existence has its laws. It's when you start distrusting yourself that all hell begins and you're getting manipulated. God made it that way for a reason. Hence, many are the efforts to make you feel powerless, unworthy and victimized, like there is something wrong with you. The only "wrong" may be that you're actually not doing what you came here to do, and in that case, you already know that too.

  37. I am a true seeker... of truth. Always have been. I am an extremely self determined and strong willed individual who seeks understanding of myself, other people and life. I've been a "inside" Scientology for 17 years.

I abhor any group or individual who seeks to lower the awareness of others or manipulate their thinking through hypnosis, psychotropic drugs, subliminal programming or invalidative, evaluative and manipulative psychological techniques.

I promote the truths of all religions and faiths and truly believe that despite the evil often done by irrational men in the name of religion throughout history that it alone has kept hope alive on Earth. It is religion that has always attempted to remind man he is not just another animal but a spiritual being with unlimited potential and ability.

I always make it a point to look for truth at the source, not through second or third hand interpretations nor the jaded lens of apostates or former students of a philosophy, religion or spiritual group.
The truths of Scientology can be found in any public library in the world in hundreds of L. Ron Hubbard's books and 1000s of his lectures or at http://www.scientology.org where people can do dozens of courses online for free and see for themselves what Scientology is.

Some of these truths Mr. Hubbard stated in his essay My Philosophy,

"The first principle of my own philosophy is that wisdom is meant for anyone who wishes to reach for it...
The second principle of my own philosophy is that it must be capable of being applied...
The third principle is that any philosophic body of knowledge is only valuable if it is true or if it works...
A philosophy can only be a 'route' to knowledge. It cannot be knowledge crammed down one's throat. If one has a route, he can find what is true for him. And that is Scientology.

Know thyself-and the truth shall set you free...
We are concerned with how to show Man how he can set himself or herself free."

There are good ones and bad ones in all areas as there is in life in general. Depends all on how it is used and interprited by the single person. I've seen people follow blindly what a doctor or psychologist says, because that is the acknowledged institution of the society. Doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. I think there is good and bad things in all of it, and the most important thing is to learn to think and evaluate for yourself and what is right for you.

      Lots of love

1: make a decision to create yourself!

-->> Let me add this to it, Randy:
