The Rules Have Changed

Posted By: Randy GageFebruary 20, 2013

For most of your lifetime, you were rewarded for being compliant, fitting in, not making waves.   So if you’re like most people, you were compliant, fit in and didn’t make waves.

But the rules have changed…

With the accelerating speed of change in fields like medicine, engineering, tech, cloning, genetics and so many others, you get rewarded for taking risks.  Creating a mêlée.   Standing out.

It no longer has to do with how much talent you were born with, what connections you have, or the degrees you collected.   Now it’s all about how brave you’re willing to be.

Risky Is the New Safe.

  1. May I add:
if you get out there as a Greenhorn to act risky - use your education OR talent as a shield against first attacks, but GO!!
And one day you can put the shield down.

"GOOD LUCK and be prepared"  -->  to all those you step out.

  3. Randy is that you in the picture?  I thought the knee caps looked familiar.  Well, I think MOST people can agree that being brave is big element to success. (haha, got you, got you back)  In almost any venture.  Thanks for that inspiration.

I think the last thing we need is a bunch of uneducated millionaires though.  Remember, University is not just about prestige and earning potentials.  It also  expands the mind and challenges us to think more broadly, so we don't stay trapped in narrow-mindedness.  Hence, the term "University", so see, it is also about learning universal ideas and truths.

Even though a person can definitely succeed without a college degree, they may never be free from tunnel vision learned through childhood and adolescence.  Plus, I am pretty sure if you are going to be gene splicing and cloning you may want to continue on with your education. 🙂

  7. Personally, I don't think education or connections should matter as much as they do. How you connect with others and how you learn/use knowledge should be what matters. There are plenty of awesome people who didn't go to college/were labelled as inferior/slow  that went on to awesomeness. They had to sell their work- be it art or a product or a service.Randy can attest to that. This risk-taking thinking is especially important when this is happening to younger people: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/millennials-stress_b_2718986.html?utm_source=DailyBrief&utm_campaign=022013&utm_medium=email&utm_content=FeatureTitle&utm_term=Daily+Brief That piece of paper has become worthless in many ways, and most people are going into massive debt just to get it.  Younger people are also expected to get MORE education, work longer hours, and work for less pay than the Baby Boom generation. The risk is all on us, and yet we're considered entitled. This is not to say that Gen X and the Baby Boomers aren't exempt. They aren't. It's just harder for a lot of people under 40 to get established if they do what they are told.I do not see how gambling thousands of dollars or more for the small chance of security working for someone else is worthwhile. Education is important, but learning is a lifelong endeavor that shouldn't be used as a form of classim.

  9. How will the project generate value: We are focused on a service which will betraded worldwide in high volume and which today, istraded ineffectively. Thanks to how we have integrated themarketing program intothis project, we will build a global marketplace connecting those who offer the service with their customers. Whenever a customer has a need for the service, they will have a chance to satisfy that need with unbelievable comfort from the most suitable service provider. For every transaction, the provider will pay a small fee, a big part of which will be allocated to thecommunity of marketers.  In places where providers didn’t have enough customers, marketers will work to create the demand. It will be more effective and comfortable for the provider to use our system than to provide services as they have in the past. Moreover, they can profit not just from the providing the service itself but also from generating extra profit from their own marketing community. Likewise customers can create their own marketing community to spread the supply of the service wherever they feel there may bea gap on the market. This way, thecustomer, provider and marketers will be able to profit from community marketing.
