The Prosperous Sound of Silence

Posted By: Randy GageDecember 16, 2008

It was a terrific Tuesday in South Beach.  In fact it was so gorgeous this morning that I decided to skip the gym and do my cardio running along the bay.

When I returned I went to drop off my dry cleaning and some holiday cards at the post office.  The Bentley was covered in plaster dust from the remodeling project in the lobby, and the detailer isn’t due for a few days.  So I decided to take it up to Miami and rinse it off.

I put the windows down, with no music, radio or even self-development CDs.  Just the silence.  What a spiritual experience.

The air was so fresh, the clouds were like artwork and the white lines were just rolling under the car in a beautiful rhythm.

So how often do you do that?

Many of you do self-development time in the morning and that’s great.  But what about quiet reflection time?

How often do you take a long drive or bike ride, or jog with no radio or audios playing?  When’s the last time you just watched the sunset or sunrise?  How about going to the beach watching the waves crash in or smoking some dope under the stars on the summer solstice?

At least twice a year I’ll go to Key West or some other resort and take along all of the books, CDs and DVDs I’d bought and haven’t reviewed yet.  Then after I go through them all, I just noodle around on a note pad, watch the clouds, and brainstorm.  Every time it gives me at least a couple million-dollar ideas.

Maybe for you it’s a cabin in the woods, a lodge in the mountains, or sitting on the banks of a creek watching the fish swim by.  But there is some place and time that speaks to your soul and your creative energy.  And the best way to listen is to get rid of all the background noise.  Listen to the silence and let your prosperity in!

  1. Hi Randy well I do go to silent moments in one case when I want to value my self for a time horizon but usually I do it at the late night so every thing around me is quite but we usually need these moments to release our pressure like yuga 🙂 then we feel energetic to do a brilliant job. I have a question which I please want you to answer, how can I make my group more excited to work and give more effort?? what do you suggest on me??

  2. Every morning, when we are coming back from the dreaming factory and we get to choose something, ONE tought will starts hell or heaven on earth, ONE tought will open the doors of the cosmic limo or ONE tought can also sit us as drivers of the most stinky septic tank vacuun truck, It is a choice and it is my choice.... ONE tought at the time.....

  3. 🙂

    Oh -I love the silence - it leads to ecstacy 🙂

    The more I take that time for silence - whether it be daily meditation, watching the squirrels (thats about as wild gets in the UK), listening tot he stream by the house, watching the stars - I focus on BREATHING it in... Fully. As I breath it in...
    * the more patient I am
    * the better parent I am
    * the less reactive
    * the more receptive
    * the larger I think (because I'm not so tied in knots on patterned thoughts)
    * life feels fresh and new - (I break the cycle of chewing on old hashed thoughts)
    * I crave health - water fresh veg and fruit
    * it opens me to compassion and awareness of others
    * and gets me to see how small i am in the vastness of this Kosmos

    As I breath that in fully in my nose, down past my heart (enthusing it with love) allowing my tummy to balloon in receptivity of the fullness of breath, down to my genitals and then into my feet... I light up. All the cells begin to sparkle... and I feel like a star too. Twinkling orgasmically (well... that's after a few breaths!)

    I send that out to the world up my back high into the Kosmos.... 🙂

    And then back round again - microcosmic breathing...

    Thanks Randy - that was fun! 😉

  4. I have very few vices. But one of them is an occasional cigar.

    Nothing is more spiritual to me than lighting that puppy up and watching the smoke rise into the air as I relax and ponder where I am in my life as well as where I'm going.

    Good cigars have been called "moments of pure dreaming". I couldn't agree more.
