The New You

Posted By: Randy GageAugust 31, 2009

On New Year’s I like to tell people, “Happy New You.”  That’s usually after we do a burning bowl ceremony, and they have released everything that no longer serves them.   They let go of their old self, and walk confidently into their new one.

As a student of self-development, you are on a path of challenge, growth, and adventure.  Each day takes you a little closer to the person you want to become.  New and creative ideas come to you.  You make new choices and learn new things.  So every day you are a little different.  And then at some point you realize you have completely reinvented yourself.  And then you do it again.  And again.

And that’s the journey that never ends.  Ain’t it great!

  1. It is yummy!
Every single day, reinvention and revisiting patterns... and then, suddently... it's transformed!
    Next...

  2. Yes indeed Randy! Werner Erhard called it 'reinventing yourself daily'.

What's so interesting is that recently I found myself giving a suggestion about how to manifest a result with a friend, and suddenly realized I need to do the same thing!

    Ain't it great!!

  3. Very cool. I love the book "Recreating Yourself" by Neale Donald Walsch- it suggests that you are doing that every second anyway, but that you often choose what you chose before.
Instead, you can choose DIFFERENTLY based on who you want to be.

Great book, and thanks for the reminder!

  4. Now this is a good post, Randy! It's so important to remind ourselves that EVERY SINGLE DAY is a new beginning, not just January 1st. An excellent reminder especially for a Monday!

@ Bones, what were your thoughts on Neale Donald Walsch getting exposed for stealing that Christmas story last year? I'm not saying he doesn't have anything of value to say or that it discredits everything he's done in the past, but it certainly makes it tougher for me to buy into his stuff.

  5. Yes it is great! I referred to the Burning Bowl Ceremony a few posts back and there is "work" to do on yourself before the ceremony and certainly work after starting with the New You. Bot not too many people agreed with the last post that relationships take work but then we'd have to look at those relationships to see if it really is all peaches and cream and how easily their home becomes that little piece of heaven. Or is it really that arid desert land where people lead lives of quite desperation? Or the home of uninmaginable chaos that leads to divorce which here in the U.S. is over 50% even among people of faith. Staying on the path of challenge, growth and adventure is not all play time by any stretch of the imagination.

  6. I love this post. As a lifelong learner, life is full of new awareness every day. Life is exciting and positive. I love being able to market a business focused on continuous learning. It's a perfect fit for me. Thanks!

  7. Embracing a New You and change certainly comes with changing former habits that don't serve me too well. Feeding my mind with rich mental protein(Randy Gage content) to form better habits that serve me better in the long term. Thanks for sharing your wisdom Randy.

  8. The burning bowl ceremony is one of my favorite ceremonies. All that I want to release, to let go, goes up in a flash of flame and a whisp of smoke.

I can then, like the Phoenix, rise up out of the ashes, born anew, and ready to go forth. 🙂

What a blessing it is to be human, indeed.

    In Gratitude,
