Most of you know I don’t think it’s my job to convert people to a particular religious belief. However I believe the Bible is a great prosperity textbook, offering many insights on living an abundant life. So as I have been recovering from the worst cold/mung/flu I ever had, I was reflecting on the importance of the words we use. Unless you are careful it’s pretty easy to take God’s name in vain. But maybe not in the you may think…
In the Bible passage where he was called to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses asked God what he should say if people asked his name. God replied, “I am who I am.” He also said, ‘Thus you shall say to the Israelites, “I am has sent me to you.”’
We know that Infinite Intelligence and us are one and the same. God, Infinite Intelligence, I am, or whatever label you may use to name It, is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. ‘I am’ cannot be sick, depressed, weak, poor, or negative in any way.
So if we follow this train of thought that God’s name is “I am,” every time we say, “I am sick,” “I am depressed,” or “I am weak,” we are speaking God’s name in vain.
Anytime we use 'I am' to affirm a negative we are speaking in error. Carrying it to the logical extension, if we speak the ‘I am’ falsely, we will manifest false results. Affirming “I am sick’ will bring you sickness, just as “I am poor” will get you poverty.
20 years ago I would have thought this was foolish semantics. Today I have no doubt that such power goes with the speaking of these words.
So what are you affirming?
