The Big Lie

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 11, 2016

Ask any hundred people what the opposite if success is, and 99 will probably answer, “Failure.” But that’s the big lie.

The real opposite of success is not failure but mediocrity.

Not only is failure not the opposite of success, it is actually an integral and necessary element of success. There has never been a goal worthy of achieving that didn’t warrant some failures along the way. In fact, the greater the chance and degree of failure, the more astonishing any potential achievement can ultimately be.

Failures are not dead-end outcomes. (Unless you quit, and then you’ve ended the story.) The entrepreneur who doesn’t make mistakes doesn’t make anything.

Failures are simply momentary challenges. When you persevere through them, these challenges become the stepping-stones to your success. They allow you to learn lessons, modify strategies, and develop the necessary character to become a successful entrepreneur.

This is why I wrote Mad Genius. (This post is an excerpt from that.) To help you blow up conventional thinking and unleash your creative genius.

  3. Sometimespeople do not immediatelyunderstandthatfailure issuccess.Helowers his handsand says- Ididn't work out.It is very important to draw conclusions fromtheir mistakes. And notprogrammingitselffor the next failure.

  4. I agree with your opinion but also the failure is a new start. The mediocrity is the same ordinary and easy way to survive.

  5. A very refreshing way of looking at it Randy!
I like the idea of thinking of the op. cit. of success is stagnation. Nothing changes and nothing moves forward everything just stays the same.

  6. This is true only to a certain extent.  Consistent failure does not promote success.  Success promotes success.  For every person you can show me that claims failure made them successful, I can show you a dozen that excessive failure (especially financial) devastated them.

  7. What is the masure of success? Is it what we learnt from socity or as we defime? Or somethingels out of our knowledge.

  8. What is called success? What is masurement of success? Is it every body think or we learnt from socity? Or some thing ells we dont know. Because after steping on success then we fill it is not what we are expected at begning.
