Take a Chance!

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 4, 2013

Okay you know from Risky Is the New Safe that I think playing safe is really the biggest risk today.  But that isn’t just in how you run your company…

It’s also true in how you run you life!

How often do you have the same thing in the same restaurant?  Have the same sex at the same time of the week?  Hang out with the same people in the same spots?

I think all high-level achievers have routines for success.  They also know when it’s time to shake up the routine! Don’t live your life by rote habits and patterns.  Take a chance!

Remember this…

The wall that protects you from rejection and failure is the same one that keeps out love and success.  Be willing to be vulnerable, because that’s where the breakthroughs live.

  1. somebody has to do it, its not easy being you when you have to follow your advice. Risk takers are bold and boldness leads to greatness like george said. Love kevin one of the sharks for his speciality, the truth. Optimum risk, optimum gain. A freakinmen~The Redding's.

  5. I was just thinking this after my morning meditation.. We all have our 'ruts' and I realize I've been doing the same things for a long time and wonder why my Life isn't changing.. This is a great reminder to step out of the familiar!! It's time to take BIG risks as long as they''re legal 🙂

  7. it reminds me of an occasion I once choose when offering s.o. to do s.th. different but - I had to make the experience that it takes two when it comes to having i.e. different sex than the "usual" routined one. Not  everyone is THAT open or adventurous from one day or week to the other....
It all starts with the mindset and again: it takes two if it´s a thing for two. Seems that being vulnerable includes some pain to under go and who doesn´t love to shy away from pain ;]  but a breakthrough doesn´t come over night so it´s all about try and try and try!
it´s sure easier with choosing s.th. different from the menu!!!

  9. Honestly, why do we assume that something isn't going to work?Sure, we tell ourselves "yes, this will work!" but deep down we are "realistic".Life is too short to be realistic.Would love your thoughts on this quandary everyone.

  11. Randy, I was reading your post and thinking about how this applies to intimate relationships. I made myself too vulnerable too soon in my last relationship, and it backfired. Now I'm wondering about how to be a little bit more 'sensible' with the next one. I can understand that playing it safe is not in the realm of breakthroughs, but I also see the need for measured vulnerability.

    1. @carmen161595 need to add something to it: showing vulnerability too early might delivers a picture of being "weak" and weakness is no starter. Good luck!
