A Shocking Confession…

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 29, 2015

I have a shocking confession for you. But of course long-term members of the community here will know this isn’t really shocking or a confession. But here it is:

I don’t write this blog for you.

Like most teachers, I teach what I most need to learn. The posts here are a chance to marshal my thoughts, debate the merits, and practice the discernment and critical thinking necessary to reach breakthroughs in any area of life.

If you haven’t see the latest Prosperity TV episode on the subject, I’ll embed it here.

I believe this is where the real breakthroughs are for all of us. When we stop trying to fix those around us and acknowledge that the class we teach, is sometimes the one we most need to take.

It might be that relationship advice you’re giving your best friend, the diet tip you’re sharing, or that penetrating truth on the Facebook slide you’re sharing.

If you want a breakthrough today, ask yourself what lesson you’re teaching that you still need to work on yourself.

  1. Randy if I didn't know better I would say it sounds like you have completely SELFISH motives for everything you do. 😉

  2. The last two messages this week has been exactly what I am facing. I am doing a presentation on "Leadership" in regards to "recognizing, empowering and appreciating" and I find myself at a point of questioning how good am I at it, on a consistent basis?
Although presenting is what drives me the most, for the first time I am finding that I want to be listening more, rather than teaching. I have listened to the Leadership module in your academy over and over, and I can't seem to listen enough. I am in "student" mode right now and not sure how much of a teacher I am right now. With that being said, how do I approach this, when I still have to present and "teach?" Suggestions? How did you prepare your mindset, going into your presentations knowing you were not "on your best game" going into it?

  3. Randy,
That is a great point. As my children were growing up and my ears were getting read because of the frustration of the lesson I was trying to teach them.
After our talk, a LOUD voice in the back of my head would say "What can you change with regards to what you are doing in this area?"
I would generally just drop my head and say to myself, "Yup." because I still had a lot to learn about the exact thing that I was trying to teach them.
I believe in God when that happened, I figured that when I heard that voice in my head, it was God basically telling me I still had a lot of room to improve in that area myself.
    Thank you for sharing, Randy!

  4. Hi Randy
I really resonated with this post. As a personal development blogger, I am offering insights that helped me make positive changes in my life. I often find my post inspirations are prompted by issues that I have been pondering for myself, or are working through on my own. There are a couple of bigger things that have been trying to get my attention lately, and I am pretty well aware of what they are, and am working on making shifts. My energy has changed dramatically in recent months, and I feel I am reaching a new level of awareness and stepping more into who I really am.
    Great thought provoking question!

  5. I think I am not the only one who felt something stir within while reading this post. Personally, the topics I write about are the ones I find useful and compelling. As I review my articles on Fortunehub.net, I realize I wrote them because I needed work on those areas.  Thanks for this eye-opening post.
