Self-Imposed Poverty

Posted By: Randy GageAugust 5, 2018

The title above references self-imposed poverty, but it could also read self-imposed sickness, failure, or misery.  Because preventing yourself from becoming wealthy, healthy, successful, or happy all arise from the same root cause.

Last post I suggested that for most people, the core of their foundational beliefs are that rich people are intrinsically evil and poor people are inherently noble.  I also suggested that having beliefs like these helps hide your insecurities, fears, and low self-esteem.  You can tell yourself that your limitations and failures are really badges of honor, demonstrating what a superior human being you are.

And it’s bullshit like this that keeps you broke, sick and miserable…

Why?

First, because of the emotional payoff you get.  You love being a victim, because it draws sympathy and attention from the people around you.

Next, because you can then absolve yourself of responsibility.  If you’re a “victim,” then your lack of success can’t possibly be your fault.

The other issue is the false superiority you feel.  This goes back to that, “we may not be rich, but we’re honest” drivel.  You equate being broke, sick, unsuccessful, or depressed as validation that you’re doing something right.  When any of those situations actually means you’re doing something very wrong.

And perhaps most importantly, you stay poor, ill, unproductive, unhappy (or all of the above).  Because by pursuing the payoffs that are actually bad for you – you stop pursuing the payoffs that are actually good for you.

You chase the wrong reward, so you never modify your thinking, habits or beliefs.  You stay in a self-fulfilling cycle of lack and limitation.  It’s one of the saddest tragedies, because it’s actually self-imposed.  That’s the bad news...

Here’s the great news: You can change all this. If you choose to. You up for that?

  1. One if the good start is: if you wake up, but your eyes still closed, start to saying yourself: One, I am worthy for prosperity. two, I am worthy for prosperity, three, I am worthy for prosperity... and count for one hundred.

  2. I hear from people all the time (and got into an argument with family about it) that being wealthy is selfish or Evil.

I think it’s unconscious. If you point it out to them, they’ll deny it.

  3. I learned a few years ago, after many times of allowing myself to "fall for" that the beautiful, noble, attractive catch-of-a-gal, weren't responsible for my (often) broken heart. ~ Finally, I recognized the dysfunctional pattern. I had allowed my own consciousness to become wired in a way that the pattern would repeat itself. ~ Then I woke up!

These people of Prosperity-potential haven't figured out they are really "potentially and innately prosperous people choosing poverty instead"
