Releasing Lack

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 14, 2012

Here’s a situation I get a lot.  Someone comes to me and they're frustrated.  They’re stuck on a plateau or their prosperity seems blocked…

They’ll say they’ve been to lots of seminars, read lots of books, listened to lots of CDs, and just done lots of overall self-development work.

“This prosperity stuff doesn’t work,” they say

When someone comes to me in that state, it’s usually the vacuum law of prosperity that is the relevant factor.  They haven’t created a vacuum for their good to come in.  So I ask one very simple, but very profound question…

What are you still holding onto - that you need to be releasing?

  1. Thank's Randy!!!! That question always makes me find something new. Now I'll sleep better tonight :)))

  2. My question is usually, "What belief am I holding onto....what "Truth!" is not serving me?" Eventually I get an answer. Sometimes it has taken years & years....sometimes it is something I've heard or read (sometimes from you, Randy) that revealed my non-serving, disempowering belief.

Once I discover the danged thing, there are TWO steps to take:

    1. Let it go.

    2. Choose a new, empowering belief. I love this step! "I choose to believe _______(fill in the blank)."

Most recently, I realized that I have some beliefs about the world (it's non-supportive) and myself (I'll probably mess up and fail yet again) which were supported by lots of evidence, and were also really really USELESS. I choose to believe something different:

I choose to believe that I really AM going to be more successful with my business in 2012. This, after years & years of firmly wishing & hoping, but....

I like to ask myself, "How would a person feel, a person who truly believed she was destined for success?" I imagine how "she" would feel, and I choose to feel that way myself. I LOVES the buzz of that feeling!

    What great question, Randy!

  4. After reading your last post, I have decided I need to release my pride. Throughout my life it has kept me from making better choices for myself. Not that all pride is bad, but sometimes I have used to lie to myself. I think sometimes it kept me from getting what I really needed.

      1. Okay, my points are back. I can keep my pride a little longer. Please excuse this interruption. Although I will still let the bad pride go..... Oh I'm gonna go now.

  7. The one, who wants to succeed has to think of service to others first. Does not matter how small is you business, think of the service first. And through the service one will get everything one needs.

    1. @Valdas This also applies to creative types as well. However, I don't think "serve" is quite the right word to use.

Providing "value" to others (as well as ourselves) seems to be better. People want to feel they are a part of something larger than themselves as well as feel important. On the other hand, if a business person or an artist is giving up too much energy to their audience, they don't have much left for themselves.I am concerned that by using the term "serve" we could be setting ourselves up unconsciously for relationships/situations that are harmful to us."Serve" implies a relationship where one person is servile to another.Randy, could you comment on this thought?

  10. I've released my need to be "perfect", and understand that making mistakes is OK.I've released my fears of being too old, not being able to make connections, not have the right knowledge, not having attended the "right" schools. or knowing the "right" people.I've released the fact that people are always going to resist me, but my own resistance is the hardest to conquer, but it is doable. I embrace the magic of uncertainty, knowing that I am making the right decisions, adapting course as I go.

  12. :)) Nice picture. I asked to this question few days ago... I released lack generally. I realized that I feel safe and I am in a peace stepping slowly... So another question come: why is a butterfly still in a cocoon? In peace, love.... happy but in a cocoon. Release safe mediocrity.. Show your uniqueness, love and enjoy the flight to the sky... Thanks. M.

Thomas, that's just a thought. You don't have to stick with it. Here's a different thought which you are welcome to adopt: 'Serve' implies a relationship in which the server simply passes on God's limitless love to another person, in a concrete form. The server can never run out of love to give, because God, aka the Source, cannot run out. (it is infinite - you know what that means?)

Your example of an actor who "gives too much" is an error of perception. Actors etc. do run out of juice, but it is not because they are giving (serving) too much, but because they are somehow limiting the amount of juice, the amount of love & energy they are receiving from God, aka Infinite Love.

If you are attached to your thought, "...servile...etc" you can keep it. Or you can release & replace it. Up to you.

    Love, Mrs. Health&Prosperity

    1. @MrsHealthandProsperity As the Course in Miracles states, everything is done out of fear or out of love. Service given in love would not be servile, but quite prosperous. I was just in Costa Rica helping stock and paint a school for indigenous kids in a very remote area. I was serving them, but of my own accord and with great love. -RG

      1. @Randy_Gage@MrsHealthandProsperity Yeah, that idea of service sounds like a very good one. Doing good because it brings you joy. Very Selfish in the Ayn Rand sense.

      2. @Randy_Gage @MrsHealthandProsperity Randy, that's the sweetest thing. Yeah, you're still a big M&M, hard on the outside and soft in the middle. I don't know if the children and parents were there. But, if they were I bet they would give you big hugs. 🙂

    2. @MrsHealthandProsperity Oh my goodness, I go so side tracked thinking of Randy painting schools in the jungle. I actually think even when you give out of love and you are serving others, you can become depleted. Not that love depletes, but our energy to be loving depletes if we are working so hard for others that we don't take care of ourselves, or we forget to.

It could happen to actors. Actors are baring their soul and that is a profound act of love that requires lots of energy. So, energy to give loving service to another can be depleted. Actually, retreats and spiritual renewal like Randy is talking about is a good way to replenish the well. You can't give from an empty well you have to keep refilling the supply.

I hope we are all talking about the same thing? Anyway, I know that when I have served others, even out of love, I got pretty darn tired. And, then I would go on a retreat and feel a lot better.

    3. @MrsHealthandProsperity

Hi, interesting reflection... From my perspective when we are doing things with love and joy, there is no servile act. It is pure loving activity, which we decided to do. So why to have bad feeling, be servant? We can feel wonderful feeling when we serve to somebody. We feel it when we doing with love. I think "serve" is a verb and we choose how we will feel the energy of this expression. If I understand well the point of actor example... I think, that everybody, not just actors "not giving too much" just limiting the energy flowing, maybe because of feeling lack of energy, lack of love, lack of prosperity. That´s why people feel that couldn´t give more. Maybe because of this feeling of lack, they have bad feeling of a verb "serve"...

  17. So what if releasing something is not the issue? What else might be holding ones prosperity back? My first thought would be that it'd have to be some form of limiting belief which almost sounds like a "no duh" statement as I just typed that.

But other than it being a issue of needing to release something, what else might the issue be?

  22. Doing online business for some years. Have almost all good tools and enough knowledge, but don't see sustainable income from online and other sources. Definitely experience Lack for years.

I go to church and tithe 10% even I have deep financial stress and lack. I think I follow circulation law and other laws.

Maybe I hold something I need to release. Now big question is "How to Release Lack"?

  25. I think that releasing a deep seeded belief in not being worthy is one of the toughest ones to release. And while I'm still inside an inquiry into what it is that I'm holding onto, this is the ONLY one that comes up. Since all these beliefs are put into place when we're very young, I suspect they are the ones that are the most difficult to release, especially when you grow up in a family where both parents live inside this belief. Any suggestions?

  27. Jonathan1 wrote "I think that releasing a deep seeded belief in not being worthy is one of the toughest ones to release." Let's look at the first two words of your sentence, "I think....." This is something you THINK. I bet you have lots of Evidence from your life that you could use to Prove It Is True, but if it were True, than everyone would agree with you, and frankly, I don't. Why not? Because it is a thought, nothing more than a thought; it is a thought that is not empowering nor helpful nor uplifting. Why not chooooose to think a different thought?

We don't think our thoughts in the past; we think them RIGHT NOW. So here's a thought you might want to borrow: "I think that releasing beliefs that I've been repeating for years is almost as easy as releasing a thought I had 1 minute ago. Heck, it is just a habit. I can change my habits. I gave up the habit of crawling when I was a year old! I can give up this habit, too."

When babies are learning to walk, they fall down, a LOT. Sometimes they crawl...and the next thing you know, they are running! Learn a new habit: Think "I can easily-easily change old thought-habits, and develop new ones" and you shall.

        1. Okay, my points are back. I can keep my pride a little longer. Please excuse this interruption. Although I will still let the bad pride go..... Oh I'm gonna go now.

Up to you.

    16. -RG

    17. So what if releasing something is not the issue? What else might be holding ones prosperity back? My first thought would be that it'd have to be some form of limiting belief which almost sounds like a "no duh" statement as I just typed that.

But other than it being a issue of needing to release something, what else might the issue be?

    19. @Randy_Gage@MrsHealthandProsperity Yeah, that idea of service sounds like a very good one. Doing good because it brings you joy. Very Selfish in the Ayn Rand sense.

    20. @Randy_Gage @MrsHealthandProsperity Randy, that's the sweetest thing. Yeah, you're still a big M&M, hard on the outside and soft in the middle. I don't know if the children and parents were there. But, if they were I bet they would give you big hugs. 🙂

This is something you THINK.
