Poverty, White Privilege and Racism

Posted By: Randy GageSeptember 15, 2019

Last post I made my case for why I believe poverty is a sin.  I predicted it would shock some and anger others.  That was true.  The plan was to make this follow up post about why there is nothing spiritual about being poor.  But based on some reaction to the last post, I want to detour and explore some issues people raised.

On Twitter, Steve said he understood my reasoning but felt it was, “deeply steeped in white privileged and racism, along with a gross misunderstanding of the reality of systemic racism.”  He went on to say that racism and colonization are what’s sinful, and are at the root of poverty.  He was also curious why I wasn’t referencing systemic racism in the original post.  Here are my thoughts…

First, I certainly agree that racism is systemic.  Most people here in the States equate racism as the institutional advantage built into the system for white people.  But that’s a very U.S.-centric view.  The racism is South Africa is quite different, as is the racism in India, Scandinavia, Malaysia, Colombia, or Kazakhstan.   Racism is not exclusively a white privilege/black suppression dynamic.  It varies all over the globe and is best dissected as a privileged majority/oppressed minority dynamic. (Or believe it or not, sometimes a privileged minority/oppressed majority one.)  Often the determining factor in the discrimination and oppression isn’t race, but gender, religion, caste, or other distinctions.  For those reasons, I felt that if I brought the systemic racism element into the post, it would actually distract from the meaning and message I desired to convey.

Hopefully all rational people would agree that depending on your environment, timing and the circumstances of your birth - you may have to overcome a systemic infrastructure created to restrict or oppress you.  This isn’t fair or just, but it is what it is.  And it leads us back to an existential choice you ultimately get down to:

Are you going to be a victim or a victor?

Yes, the system is probably rigged against you.   It’s rigged against literally millions of people.  So what are you going to do?  I covered this topic on my Prosperity TV channel a while back.  Take a look at what I said then.  I think it applies to our discussion here.

So you can see why I fervently believe poverty is a sin.  And like James Allen, I believe the slave and oppressor are co-creators in lack.  On the next post, we get back to why I believe there is nothing spiritual about being poor.  Until then, would love to see your thoughts below.

  1. SJW, feminists and other socialists suck, for there is no such a thing as white privilege and gender pay gap in a global way at least at 1st and 2nd world countries - yeah, it happens, but it's very rare. I would even say that so-called positive discrimination hurts USA and many other places around the world much more than usual one (and it's a great topic to discuss) and that in this or that way sistem is rigged against literally everyone with types of challenge and difficulty of its overcoming varying

  2. Great conversation Randy. I know you have been sharing this exact message for decades now. Although I disagree with the previous comment from Dmitry, I do indeed believe there is "White Privilege " and old boy networks that make it much more difficult for certain groups of people to see clearly their path to success. BUT as you say at the end of the day we all have a choice Victor or Victim. Yes someone's journey is very likely to be more difficult than mine, so as an individual you must decide do you kick down the door or do you curl up in a ball and hope and dream that it will someday change.

Randy I have learned so much from you over the years, Thank you sir!

  3. Poverty is sadly a program that is transmitted from generation to generation. There is a great biologist named Bruce Lipton who explains it very well. These are programs that parents unconsciously teach their children with their impossibilities to create paths to abundance. Freud also came to say that the human being lives in permanent hypnosis. That is why I have been applying certain laws that I have been learning for a long time. And a few weeks ago I bought this product which I put into action and is really giving me incredible results of manifestation! I recommend it! I'm starting to see literally miracles in my life! and it is precisely for that reason, I abandoned old family programming and magic began to enter my life!
I highly recommend this product to buy. Good luck to all! http://bit.ly/magicinyourlife

  4. Being POOR is an option, mine was a brown privilege, always have a house, food toys and college.....starting from 0 in this country was hard but poor was not on my mind. Discipline & hard work.

  5. "He went on to say that racism and colonization are what’s sinful, and are at the root of poverty."

How the hell you can keep your blood-pressure low, while you dealing with this kind of people (notice, I said "this kind of", so I am utterly racist). He just making excuses about keep killing the people, explaining that poverty is natural.
