Move Fast and Break Things

Posted By: Randy GageMay 14, 2012

That title above was the daily mantra for Mark Zuckerberg and the Facebook clan, as they grew their site from a modest networking site for college kids to the largest social media juggernaut in the world.

Breaking things may be risky, but in today’s economy, not taking risks pretty much guarantees you will fail…

Today down is up, and up is down.  The advances in technology, the accelerating speed of change, and other factors have redefined both what success is, and how you get there today.  If you watched my Safe is the New Risky video, then you know all the rules have changed.

So how are you about taking risks?  And what risk will you take today?

  1. Hello Randy,
Safe is the New Risky video is the most inspiring video of you. I can't help to remember how in Thailand people can use monkeys to replace humans. The technology world has removed certainty out of life. It's really fun to be alive in this era. If I have to take a risk today, it would be to use all possible  technology to become a billionaire.
    Thanks for the topic.

  3. I have to agree with you Randy that safe is the new risky. It's as if we are being pushed by a Universal Force to expand our own boundaries in life. I do something outside of my comfort zone as often as I can just to remind myself that Life begins outside my comfort zone.

  9. My grandfather Paul used to say: "no risk, no win".
It was his permanent mantra I guess.
People say that I risk way too much and yes, I try and do a lot more than others who safe their risks in some boxes and later look inside to count what´s inside, while my box which is permanent open got pretty empty again.... but: No Risk, No Win!!!
I won a lot more in life than the others who play safe with their no-risk-boxes.....

What was your biggest risk in life, Randy? In case you recall.... by so many tries! 😉

  17. Well we're in development of an amazing documentary project, but rather than produce another 'formula' approach like most, we're raising the bar by discussing interactive documentary technology, along with other media. The risk is telling a story that most will expect to be done in the traditional manner, but instead, doing it in an advanced, 'out of the box' manner which will no doubt raise some eyebrows.

Today, I don't have any specific risks I plan on taking, but my entire life has been about taking risks, LOL.
