Mindset: Reversing Negative Thoughts...

Posted By: Randy GageJune 13, 2018

So let’s go back to the real million-dollar question that started this whole series.  What do you do, when you realize that your default setting is thoughts that are negative or based in poverty consciousness?

First, you work on starting to catch them.  Meaning that you notice when you have a lack-centered or fear-based thought.  This is often much harder than it sounds.  Because you’ve been conditioned to think you are your thoughts – as opposed to the thinker of your thoughts.  Understand this vital distinction.

When something happens and you catch a bad thought, you have to stop and reposition it.  Example: You’re notice someone you’re attracted to at a party.  You consider approaching them and immediately think about being rejected.  Notice that and speak to yourself mentally. “Isn’t that interesting? I was thinking about approaching that person, and my first thought was rejection! Where did that come from?  Aren’t I just making that up?  Why am I not thinking that they would be delighted to meet me?”

And you know what, they still could reject you.  But that’s really not likely.  But even if they did, you still would have started the change in your thought process.  And every time you make an incremental change, it takes you closer to the breakthrough point – which is what we will discuss in tomorrow’s post.

  1. yeah.... i find that when i 'default' to those negative thoughts + feelings... my practice is to realize that, most of the time, if not all is that those 'defaults' aren't even my own - but those i took on as a child that were either my mother's or father's negs... and that will help me to shift... x (((o)))

  2. The Power of Connection course is excellent for bringing the negative thoughts you harbor to the surface and the reason (usually from experiences that were traumatic in our upbringing) for those negative thoughts. More importantly, how to recognize them and the tools to deal with them properly.

  3. My reactions to anything or anyone tell me more about myself and the paradigm I am working within. Catch yourself as you react and ask, 'What am I assuming here", hopefully you will cnnect with the feeling that goes with it and realise this is what you are trying to avoid,or run away from. I can distance from the feeling and say to myself, thats an interesting thought, but it will never take you to the core of an unconscious belief you have about yourself, and unfortunately runs your life as it acts as a seemingly guidance system which you believe is true, but is actually a kind of lie we tell ourselves to keep us feeling OK - but it is a pseudo OK.

  4. There is so much power in reframing each situation you find yourself in. Being able to step outside yourself and having that awareness is so powerful.
