Make Bethlehem Great Again!

Posted By: Randy GageDecember 24, 2018

Every year around Christmas, I hear people imploring others to remember, “the reason for the season.”  (It’s almost as if they’re suggesting there is an alternate purpose than getting a new HD TV from Best Buy.)  So let’s use a little imagination and speculate how things might have turned out differently.   Imagine it’s about 2,019 years ago.  We’re at a political rally, where a candidate is running for mayor of Bethlehem and makes the following speech…

When do we beat Nazareth at the border?  They’re laughing at us, at our stupidity.  And now they are beating us economically.  They are not our friend, believe me.  But they’re killing us economically.

Bethlehem has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems.

Thank you.  It’s true, and these are the best and the finest.  When Nazareth sends its people, they’re not sending their best.  They’re not sending you.  They’re not sending you.  They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us.  They’re bringing drugs.  They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.  And some, I assume, are good people.

But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting.  And it only makes common sense.  It only makes common sense.  They’re sending us not the right people.

It’s coming from more than Nazareth.  It’s coming from all over the Middle East.  But we don’t know.  Because we have no protection and we have no competence, we don’t know what’s happening.  And it’s got to stop and it’s got to stop fast.

I would build a great wall – and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me – and I’ll build them very inexpensively.  I will build a great, great wall on our border and I’ll have Nazareth pay for that wall.

We will make Bethlehem strong again.  We will make Bethlehem proud again.  We will make Bethlehem safe again.  And we will make Bethlehem great again. #MBGA

Imagine that scenario.  Then imagine how different the world might be today.

Merry Christmas!

  1. For you in US, the pilgrim fathers would have never been and you would be citizens of some kingdoms in Europe.
For we in Africa, colonization might have never been or might have been very bloody and who knows.
It was love then, it has taken us this far.

    Merry Christmas, Randy!

  2. Reading this post and trying to understand how rock band of late 60s Nazareth can be beating Bethlehem economically LOL. Have a nice day! 🙂

  3. Love conquers ALL. It always has, it always will. It's a spiritual law and it cannot be broken. Walls will break, we will break, but Love cannot be broken. It can only mend, and mend it will as our souls prosper and remember the reason for the season.

  4. I just happened upon your website after reading about you in Jane Atkinson's book and the first thing I read is your Bethlehem blog (MBGA). I like you! LOL. I'm going to subscribe to your blog and get to know your work. 😉

  5. And to top it off, the only reason Joseph brought Mary to Bethlehem was because Ceasar had levied a tax and Joseph was compelled to go to his home region to register! The story of Christmas begins with immigrants, one of them pregnant, forced to be on the run (shortly after the birth all children under the age of two were to be slain) from country to country...and yet so called evangelicals reject those like Joseph and Mary...
