Living with Gratitude

Posted By: Randy GageMarch 23, 2011

It was fifteen minutes after midnight, and I was driving home after two ballgames, and having a bite to eat with a teammate.  Exhausted, and ready to go to sleep.  Then I remembered something…

There were books and prosperity maps waiting for me to sign at my office.  We had sold out of everything at the last event.  So I had agreed to sign all the backorders when the publisher shipped them over.  It was Thursday night, and sleep was beckoning...

But if I didn’t sign them that night, it would be the weekend before I had time.  So they wouldn’t get to the publisher till the middle of the next week, and then still longer till they got to the people who ordered them.  So I headed over to the office…

When I walked in, my heart skipped.  The desk was barely visible from all the books piled high on it.  And there was a huge stack of prosperity maps.  For a second there, I was about to head into victim mode.

And then it struck me…

I had signed books like crazy at the event.  Yet here were dozens more, waiting to be signed.  And then I remembered that I was the former minimum wage dishwasher and high school dropout.  AND the guy that people wanted an autograph from.  I remembered what an honor it is that people hold me in such high regard.

So I spent the next 90 minutes signing everything waiting for me.  And did it with joy, grateful for the tremendous opportunity I have – to do the work I do.

Ford Saeks once told me.   “Remember, our worst day is most people’s dream come true.”   Yo.

What are you grateful for today?  And who?  Have you let them know it?  And while we're on the subject, please know how grateful I am for each one of you that make up this powerful community.

  1. Hi Randy, I'm absolutely grateful for the tons of work I have today; a year and half ago I was struggling without work and even money, and I'm near all of my deared ones.
I have full of blessings today, and I´m reading your blog with interest, instead of desperation,

    Kind regards

  2. I am grateful for you, Randy.

For my clients, family and friends.
    For my fuzzy britches cat.
For me, for being willing to do that which not only makes the best of this moment but also that which makes the best of my future moments.

For all the uplifting influences that shine around us, including our creator.
For love, mystery, life and death.

And all of you that make up this world we share!

  3. I am grateful for rapidly increasing clarity. Today's A-Ha! moment came when I recognized that I was just about to spend money I don't have yet, in short, just about to financially sabotoge myself aaaagain! I'm not going down that path this time! Wonderful clarity! Thank you dear ones for this insight.

  4. I'm so in tune with your posts Randy. This morning when I got up I was thinking that I need to be more grateful as I felt that I was becoming a little cranky about things not being perfect in my life. I went through some things that I'm really grateful for right now, like the new job that I interviewed for this week with my parent company (my job is becoming obsolete). I felt grateful that they were willing to have me and that they offered a very interesting position.

  5. Thanks for the great post about my favorite subject, Randy. I ask the question every day, "What are you Grateful for RIGHT NOW?" to get people (including myself) to stop and focus on their many, many blessings. I too, will go to gratitude if I find myself starting to belabor what needs to be done. Focusing on gratitude truly will change your life.

I'm grateful to have met you in person at The Big Event and for the privilege of following you through social media. Thanks for ALL that you do for SO many!

May this year bring you even more love, laughter, peace, and prosperity!

    With Gratitude ~

  16. Hi Randy

I am grateful to have you as my mentor. I am grateful  for that I am opened to a spirituality that weren't there in my upbringing. I am grateful for the day by day seing more of what the the universe offers. I am grateful for your stand for what's real. I am grateful that I've allowed myself to be a grown up not just on the level of me as an individual but participating as a grown up in society at large.

  17. What a joyful post, Randy. 🙂

I am grateful for so many things in my life - and among them I count also your success because it was your voice, out of a group of amazing mentors, that finally woke me up again after I had temporarily forgotten what who I was and what this life was all about.

I am so thankful for your passion to share with others what you have lived and learned. I know firsthand the value of what you bring to the world ... and I love watching others 'get' your message and blossom.

    So very cool!

Thanks for who you choose to be and the work you are committed to. 🙂

  18. I am so grateful for all the teachers and mentors along the road of my life that have brought me to a place of awareness and healing the inner child.

    Thank You Randy.

  19. I am grateful for my life and everything in it.

I am grateful for my unique circle of friends who are optimistic, wise and courageous.

I am grateful for this site, where Randy Gage gives everyone an opportunity to learn, grow and become a better person. Thank you Randy!

  20. Randy! I'm grateful today that you are my fabulous mentor and coach and that you teach from the heart and from experience. Keep changing lives my friend. With love & gratitude!

  21. Learn to cultivate an attitude of gratitude daily. We all have so much to be grateful for, we just have to remember to stop and notice it.

  22. I'm grateful for my wife, family, and for the friends in my life who are willing to tell me truth, even if it hurts. My wife knows today, need to express this more to my close friends. I'm grateful for all you guys, the network marketing profession and this amazing community dreamers. I'm gratefu for the feedback you guys give and the wisdom shared.

  23. There's so much to be grateful for, so I'll do my best to narrow it down to the more important ones as follows:

The inspiration I receive from you and the daily reading I do

Living in a paradise that's filled with possibility and beauty (SF Bay Area)

Having good health and a Life I love

The love I share with friends, family and the soul mate I will meet soon

Having purpose which drives my vision and mission in Life

Having the knowledge that everything and anything is possible in life

And of course, I'm grateful for your posts which are inspiring, enlightening and motivating.

And yes Randy, you SHOULD be grateful even when you have stacks upon stacks of books to sign. There might not be any otherwise, LOL

  24. Hi Randy,

I'm grateful for my growing network of friends and on a side note, quadrupling my opt-ins the other day.

I've found a connection strategy that works, and works very well. So deeply grateful for this.

Gratitude is a conduit to good. See the good in any situation, you feel better and attract more good things.

    Thank YOU for sharing!

    RB

  25. Today I am grateful for serenity.

I like this post today too Randy, it's like Thanksgiving. Which reminds me that I am thankful for pumpkin pies with lots of whip cream. While I am on the subject of food, I am also thankful for Twinkies. Twinkies remind me of childhood, and they are so good too!!

Mr. Randy this is YOUR blog and I have written so many things about how wrong I think you are. 🙂 So, Thank you for the discourse, and for appreciating me. You said you were grateful for everyone in this community, so I was assuming you mean Annie the partial pariah as well.

I am grateful today that I have learned so much here. I have learned that among other things, I don't have to be right, I just have to be me. Also, I don't have to save the world anymore by changing all your minds. It isn't my burden, and it doesn't have to be anyone's burden.

So, I am also grateful that we can all learn from each other. We are all pieces of a whole, no right and wrong anymore, just harmony in a world of difference. (Remember those commercials?) 🙂

I am also grateful for my family, crazy as they may be, they are mine!

PS This does not mean I will stop disagreeing with you either. (Just thought I should make that clear.) Peace, Big Guy.

  26. Great post Randy. When I'm having a challenging day I do the same.... I remember where I was 10 years ago! And I know that 10 years from now I'll do the same.
    Aint life great?!

  27. I am grateful for EVERYTHING in my life, even what I preceive to be "bad" or "challenging" because I know it is all for the best, regardless of my opinion about it. It all serves me in some way.

  28. I am grateful for: my friends who aren't afraid to "tell it to me straight" and have no problem "setting me straight" when I need it; for wonderful acquaintances like you, Randy; for my good health; for my financial security; for my house; for....Oh, hell. I have to stop now. I could go on for quite some time on this one. 🙂

  29. Have been maintaining a gratitude journal since the last 2 years about everything I have been grateful for, for the last 16 years - needless to say, life has been improving magically with every day.
Grateful to know that this soul has learned about the powers of subconscious whose desires will manifest if not in this birth, surely the next!

  30. Well said, Randy. For me, it all starts with gratitude. Goals are great and (I feel) necessary for fulfilling my potential, but I always start each day thanking God for all of my current blessings - lest I forget where I came from.

    Best,
    Scott

  31. John and I have this game we play. It's called "millionaire problem of the day". We have such fun coming up with problems that we can't wait to experience once we've reached our goal. Things like: "Dammit John, the housekeeper let the dogs run in the rose garden again...RRrr." It makes us laugh.

Randy, your problem with having to sign autographs when you'd rather sleep is most certainly a millionaire problem. What a blessing! And I can picture that playful smirk on your face as you lap it all up.

Bravo Randy! And while we're being grateful... let's be thankful for all of the "pain" experiences we have to endure as we grow ourselves into the person we dream to be. For without those, there would be no victory : )

  32. wonderful reminder of who we really are. I am for one the product of my family and friends. Then I am also the product of a long line of ancestors. My role is to continue the task, and as you discovered once again that evening, I have this morning with our clock change in Europe: at 5:30 am time to get up, my inner clock said, no screamed ! it's too early!!!
still I did what has to be done and I am grateful for the work which is coming my way today.
    Have a wonderful week Randy.

  33. Somehow I missed this post and have just seen it - indeed gratitude is the tool to turn your life upside down for the better. Whatever we focus on expands and appreciation breeds feelings of joy and connection with our true being. Complaints and critism breed more of the same. It is obvious from the commments above how joyful gratitude makes people. Allow me to share the link to http://www.GratitudeLog.com - pretty self explanatory and definitely worth checking out.

  34. PS It is interesting how in your story in todays post you confirm how our thoughts create our feelings. Victim feelings - no energy then feelings of gratitude and you get a desire to sign all those books even when you were exhausted. Change your mind change your life!
