Living the Triumphant Life

Posted By: Randy GageDecember 29, 2010

In the last post we began a look at the role of right thinking for prosperity. There is no random.  Your life is the harvest of your thoughts.  No prayers or religious ceremonies, not even watching “The Secret” 59 times, can save you from the effects of wrong thinking.  Only right thinking can rectify a life off track.

If you haven’t already, read the comments on the last post for ways to guide yourself to right thinking.  A life on track produces health, happiness and prosperity.  A life off track is one of mediocrity. You either hate change enough to stay mediocre, or you hate being mediocre enough to change.

Like most things in life, the magic comes from balancing two opposite elements.   Passion unchecked leads to destruction.  Reason too, has its own vices.  You want to live your life by reason, but have the faith to override it when it’s called for.

That is why purpose is so important to your life.  Once you have a purpose, the path appears.  Or more specifically, your thoughts become logical, sequential, and harmonious.  You choose the thoughts that produce the habits, which manifest the outcome you desire.

You have to find the place where both your head and heart are centered on virtue.  Living your life by unyielding principles with a sense of purpose.  You find a balance that keeps life fresh and exciting, yet still moving forward toward your purpose.

It’s certainly not easy and I don’t know if any of us ever get it perfect.  But it’s like piloting a jet.  You’re off course most of the time, but all the tiny corrections along the way ultimately get you to the right destinations.

The best advice I can give you on this is to be the thinker of the thought.  In other words, you have to think about what you think about.

Your dominant thoughts are what determine your destiny. But your thoughts don't organize and direct themselves.  You must choose to be a critical thinker and supervise the process.

Life is ever changing, dynamic and full of possibilities.  And your results come from the thoughts you give precedence to.  True happiness – the triumphant life – comes when you stop trying to find yourself and make a decision to create yourself.

So how you doing on that?

P. S. Get ready for some fun tomorrow.  It will be my annual look at the year that was!

  1. Randy,
Two great posts yesterday and today. Like most people this was the hardest thing for me to understand was purpose. Was I sure this was the one. Was I supposed to all of a sudden become an quantum physicist at 54. I realized that my passion was to study acting. I knew this when in class 4 hours seemed like 20 minutes. Now is my purpose to be an actor. I don't know but I keep going back. I also visualize me on stage either making people laugh or in a commercial.
There are some things that I can't visualize me doing and that is because I don't want to do it. Run a company, be a politician. I always ask when I am affirming my life "For this or something better."
    Thanks,
    JIm

  2. Terrific post, Randy! The headline alone, "Living the Triumphant Life", is a keeper. Why should I settle for living "the good life" when I can live a TRIUMPHANT life? Love it!

And you're right --- purpose is the key. What a great thing to ponder as we go into the new year. Thanks!

  3. We must understand that every behavior we have is preceded by our thoughts. It cannot happen any other way. Our thoughts are the seedlings that will produce our feelings that will translate into our actions. Do this consistently and you will create new habits that will be formed in our subconscious mind. Do what Randy suggests and have a purpose. Once a purpose is defined, your thoughts should be prioritized around that purpose so everything you do will align with the necessary resources to make your dream come into reality.

  4. One of the reasons I enjoy reading this blog is because the messages are always on target, it is something that resonates within me as truths.

No doubt that becoming cognizant of our thoughts is the first step to rewiring the brain you cant change something your not aware of and many go through life unaware.

Even if the thoughts they are playing in their head 60,000 times a day continue, many are unaware of how their thoughts are creating their circumstances.

I made a commitment to myself to be consciously aware of my thoughts and how they affect my emotions, and behaviors I think it's the greatest gift I can give to myself.

    With Gratitude.
    All the best

  5. Hi Randy

First time responder but a long time reader, Iv'e always thought to myself 'wow these posts r unbelievable they make me have to think', I really want to comment on a lot of blogs and every time I say allright this one I can't just let by, but you know how tend to be (not the way it supposed to) I'll do it some other time but never get around to do it, anyway I said enough is enough I have to, I must, and all of sudden here comes this post, 'wow' I must tell this one got me ticking, Randy I must thank you for all these gr8 posts you put out for us to help us succeed in life, may god bless u and you're family for all u do for us,and a happy healthy and wealthy new year!

  6. I think I am doing really well with knowing what my purpose is...since I was very little I have always been in touch with my dreams and visions.

What I have to work on is how to dilute the influence of those professional victims and religious fanatics that I love, in a way that feels respectful of myself as well as them.

I do not want to make drastic changes...but I do want to make space and fill it with more uplifting influences from other people...so that I am not the only one creating the ideal currents in my chosen path.

  7. "Not thinking" is also an excellent way to foster a good spirit.
Try drawing, painting, dancing, playing the guitar, whatever form of art that puts your reasoning to sleep!
I think we are not only made of thoughts, but of emotions as well, and not-thinking puts you in a good mood and a sense of well-being.

    1. Great post, Rodrigo. Coloring books are for adults, too. 😉 GREAT 'not thinking' exercise and makes the 'child' within you really happy.

    2. And "Not thinking" makes way for "Right thinking".... Is being Good Spirited a purpose in itself.

  9. I think you are a huge hypocrite. You profess to want everyone on your blog and all your readers to think critically, except where it applies to you and your teachings.

When one critically examines or criticizes your work or belief systems you support, they are met with your patronizing comments and defensive behavior. How should one follow you mighty sage? By your words or your behavior?

      1. I don't want Randy to be perfect. I want him to be responsible for his actions. He still plays the victim, and I am not sure how often he is thinking critically. Most of all as a subversive voice on this blog, it would be nice if just once he would actually engage me in a real conversation about at least some of my criticisms. Besides, being critical and being angry with someone doesn't mean one doesn't like them. I happen to like him just fine.

        1. I'm always happy to discuss and encourage contrary points of view. But I choose not to respond to off topic rants, personal attacks against me or the other participants, people just looking for attention, repeatedly beating the same dead horse over and over, or all of the above.

          -RG

          1. Okay Randy, call me what you will. I think yes all of those accusations are true. At least partly, anyways. I have been off topic a few times. But, sometimes I wasn't. There were also times when I believe I did a good job of tying the themes together.

I have to say, I was surprised by the way you handled my comments. It was not at all what I expected from the man who wrote the DS&B book I read. You talked about being a critical thinker and enjoying philosophical debate.

Instead of an intelligent debate, you made off the wall statements. Like "Does your belief that only white men can be wealthy serve you?" Which was a complete misrepresentation of what I said. Quite frankly, I must assume you are either incredibly stupid or just trying to dismiss my comments. I chose to believe the latter, as you don't appear all that stupid to me.

I did not react well to that, I aggree. I was terribly dissapointed. I assumed you would have something at least interesting to say to my comments. I have trully been wrong.

My conclusion, is that you have no sense of humor, as many times I was just trying to make you laugh, yes you. Sorry about that. It maybe wasn't the right way but it was my of flirting. Yes, I said flirting, because I did want your attention, in hopes one day we could actually have a real discussion of some topics I find fascinating and disturbing about your belief system. Luckily, I think you are still a fairly obscure writer, and I don't have to worry about your memes affecting large masses of people.

The second conclusion, I have reached is that you are to arrogant and ignorant to truly discuss that which I wished to discuss anyways. I am so sorry this seems to be true.

I care about the way people who live with economic disadvantages are portrayed. Just because you were poor once does not mean you have any inkling about the complexity of their issues. I however, do. I will take you on at anytime anyplace if you do not believe this.

To all others, yes I to have been a hyprocite and occasionally still am. No, Libertarianism is not my only concern. Yes, I understand it is not coming to america anytime soon, because the people of this nation are to smart to think such a thing could possibly work at this juncture in our history.

Edward, the answer to my riddle is this. I live in Liberty, the city of Liberty. So, quite ironically, I am a Libertarian and am surrounded by them all day long!

        2. A main theme that seems to be recurring with you is your complete objection and emotional reaction to Libertarianism. Libertarianism is not a threat to you in any practical sense because it is not likely to ever happen in North America anytime soon, as governments become more autonomous and larger organization which have a self-appointed dominion over all of us.

          1. Perhaps she would be better off spending time looking at why she is so needy regarding Randy replying to her. Why does your ego need a constant Randy 1-2-1 dialogue fix?

    1. Hi Annie-

With all due respect, you may want to ask yourself, what's going on inside of me that has me reacting to Randy this way? One can't see in another what doesn't exist in oneself. I know that when I am upset or irritated about anything or anyone, it's about me, not the circumstance or the person.
      Peace & blessings- Joe

    2. Dear Randy Followers,

I truly think Randy has proven my point with his reaction to my comment. Yes, you heard me right, he proved my point. Ask yourselves this: Why would someone who wrote a successful book about prosperity and abundance need to attack a commenter in such a way?

I aggree, I have been a pest and down right insulting to the man and many of you. But why is he attacking me? Is there not perhaps a more professional way to have handled me without saying I was attention seeking, insulting and off topic?

Might a true professional just felt sorry for the likes of someone like me? And said, oh I don't know: "Sorry you find me to be hypocritical, this is why I feel I am not."

I honestly don't know how he conducts business so well with such a bad temper. I think if you think about his response to me you will find it was patronizing and patriarchial. Should I have said "Gee Dad, I'm sorry I don't aggree with you, next time I will be a good girl and look up to you with innocent adoration."

I think his remarks were rude, he is the one conducting this blog. Even if he doesn't like what I say or how I say it, he could have been way more professional. I mean don't you think?

      1. Anne,
I am often quite, but frankly... Randy didn't attack you, rather you have been attacking him. I read this blog almost everyday and when I get to your postings, there about 85% negative. We don't visit this particular blog to challenge our spirit in such a way. We are visiting this blog because it makes us feel good and it exercises our right of power as human beings to make the best choices for our own lives. We are in control, this is a vehicle we use to steer our own ship. Either you commensurate with those who share your views, start your own blog or possibly take up a debate class at a local college... just a thought.

        1. Seems to me anon, that a blog site that tries to promote critical thinking, would want opinions of all sorts. Therein lies the hypocrisy.

  10. I love your last comment about stop trying to find yourself and make a decision to create yourself.
I have been hearing a lot lately about do what you love serve others etc. This am during my meditation it came to me! I ran an art studio for 9 yrs. I love teaching. Now I will serve others through instruction and inspiration via video. Can't wait to get started, should be lots of fun! 🙂

  11. Learning ... and ... spinning 🙂

"Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly."

Changing my thinking ... changing my life.

  12. Thank you Randy, you wrote very good thought-provoking things. You are my ideal I am a bar on his front with my business building very much yet, but my perseverance and my aim is, is not so from what to fear.

  13. great thoughts on thoughts - this is golden words for the mind, my mind, a new year is coming up and its about time to prepare for some personel achievements .. thanks

  14. Yes, watching "The Secret" is not enough but it brings my thinking back on track.

I like to see motivational videos for my special industry much more, for example the DVD "Check Out the Biz".

I can´t see it too often.

Whenever I am excited about what to say at my next conversation with a prospect or I am afraid what could happen - I watch it and with a smile in my face I know exactly what to say without learning any phrases or techniques.

Just because my thinking is back on track. I focus on what I want.

  15. Hey Randy, how did you know I was listening to The Secret when reading your post? 😉

It's OK to reintroduce an idea to your consciousness over and over but until you learn to choose your thoughts it's difficult to change your life considerably.

Expand your awareness through meditation. Take time to be quiet each day. Learn to become an observer of your thoughts. It becomes much easier to choose your thoughts when you realize that you aren't your thoughts.

    Thanks for sharing your insight.

  16. Randy.. Am very happy that you made the statement about thinking about the thoughts we think. I find it's incredibly important to monitor EVERY thought and when the thoughts surface that are 'old thinking' we eliminate them at once. While watching "The Secret" repeatedly will not change anything, the essence of "What you think about, you bring about" is true.

So we have to constantly ask ourselves, "What thoughts am I holding and are they in alignment with my purpose?". I LOVE how you emphasize purpose in Life, since living without purpose is empty. We ALL have a purpose and it's just a matter of being in touch with it. I get very inspired when I think about the people's lives I will change as I begin to introduce a new way of education to the world. But I also embrace the opportunity to simply listen and be there for those in need, too.

As Wattles says in "The Science of Getting Rich", the key is to hold the thought, The Truth, in SPITE of all appearances. Let's all think the thoughts that serve us and let go of the past!

  17. Purpose, first and foremost, is about who you're being, how you show up to do what you do. Unfortunately, the masses are "being" fearful, scared and coming from lack and scarcity so when they "do," the results mirror who they are being, regardless of what they do. When making decisions and taking action, ask, Am I doing this from a place of love and abundance or fear and scarcity? Results are your indicator of who you are "being." Move from a place of self-improvement to self-discovery. You are joy. You are abundance. You are love. You are perfect health. You're just pretending that you're not. You don't have to create yourself, as Randy suggests. Just discover the Truth of who you really are. It's all about un-learning, not learning.

  18. Great post! Most of us have been so programmed by negativity from our families, churches, and government, that it takes a rapid transformation for people to have more positive thoughts and feeling on a daily basis than negative ones.

  19. The best one I've read. I've copied and pasted every word so I can read, read, and read again. Perfect in preparation for goal setting, reflection, and increasing awareness as we head into 2011.

  20. And for one of those times when one gets off track, go back to this thought:

"You have to find the place where both your head and heart are centered on virtue."

Simply said, but so very profound. And a great focus to take with us into a New Year.

    K

  21. Awesome post! I was recently listening to Bob Proctor say "2% of all people think, 3% think they think and the rest 95% would rather die than think!".
I've recently started to think about what I think about 🙂

As for Annie's comments and I don't know who is right or wrong: In Think & Grow Rich, Napoleon writes: 'Men who accumulate great fortunes are generally known as cold-blooded, and sometimes ruthless. Often they are misunderstood.'

  22. Randy,

Thanks for such a great post and especially for these words "True happiness – the triumphant life – comes when you stop trying to find yourself and make a decision to create yourself".

I've have spent so much time trying to find myself untill I realized through trainings and reading that that way was wrong. The right way was to imagine the life I wanna live and the person I wanna be, and then to realize this dream. So I wrote down my dreams and now feel very excited and inspired to follow this.

The only thing I didnt quite get from your message, may be cauze English is not native for me, is the phrase "to live your life by reason". What do you mean saying this?

    1. That's a very complex question, and probably the deepest chapter in my book, "Why You're DUMB, SICK, & BROKE...and How to Get SMART, HEALTHY & RICH!" Definitely worth a read for you. But you'll definitely see me writing more on that subject in future posts.

      -RG

  23. I enjoyed this post and it made me think.

I've written some fairly detailed goals for this year, and revamped my mission statement. If I can keep them in the forefront of my mind it will be like light driving out darkness and keeping those negative thoughts at bay.

The following words come to mind that I would like to improve on: focus, perseverance, discipline, mindfulness, direction.

Regarding the link between mediocrity and change. I feel that too much change can lead to mediocrity. I know what you're getting at - that things need to change to move from mediocrity to triumphulness (triumphancy?...no that's when you're just starting out at being triumphant). But for me my biggest thing is sticking with something I've started and not being diverted too easily (ie. discipline, perseverance).

Thank you to those of you who gave excellent ideas/reminders the other day for practical strategies for improving the overall qualities of thoughts.

  24. I have developed the habit of concious thought for years. It's like working out. You get better each time you take the initiative to do it. It also gets easier and comes more naturally as you progress, for those who may be struggling with it initially. I would add, from my own personal experience, that prayer does play a huge role in transformation. It allows the infinite universe to support you in your positive transformation. Prayer has been key to my transformation, but prayer also needs to be done in a positive expectant manner and this is key, with complete faith. "Ask and it will be given to you". One thing I have also learned is prayer will only manifest what is for our good for us, even if we don't see how at the time.

  25. "That is why purpose is so important to your life. Once you have a purpose, the path appears."

"You have to find the place where both your head and heart are centered on virtue."

Both these statements clicked with me. Growing up I was discouraged to 'dream'. I do not remember have the childhood passion of 'wanting to be when I grow up', my Mom criticized the 'dreamer'. When we had nothing to do but sit and think, she found something for us to do, chores or go outside and play. Playing didn't allow for dreaming either.

In my early 20's I met Bob Proctor, his statement to me was, "Someone has been lying to you all your life". This startled me and I started thinking of all the people who had influence on me and who I trusted with my heart and soul. That list came up very very short. I had no trust in anyone in my life.

I read so much and try to find that connection. My knowledge is vast however feeling it in my heart has been challenging.

Thank you Randy for these statements, I'm printing them out on BIG pieces of paper and putting them where I see them everyday.

        2. Annie,
