What do the following three statements above have in common?
“At my age…”
“If you’ve been around as long as I have…”
“When you get older, you’ll understand that…”
They’re all uttered by people who have been beaten down, given up, become jaded, or are frightened by the future. They desperately want things to go back to the way they were. (Not really, because the way things were was bad. They want things to go back to their idolized, delusional memory of the way things were.)
To live a prosperous life, you need an insatiable curiosity, living your life with anticipation and wonder. You don’t need to return to being a child. But you do need to return to living like a child.
How you doing on that?
I do love the sentiment and singing of Patsy Cline's Eyes of a Child, and I am totally with you on things were better in my day crap, no they weren't... I love going to Whistler and Napa and laugh at the old timers who say it was so much better 30 years ago.. no, it wasn't, they were backwaters back then, bring on the progress...
I remember thinking "I've got some really big challenges here in my thoughts", as a kid.. never thought or new about prosperity then..
