I Have a Dream

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 16, 2012

Today is the day we commemorate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. here in the United States.  There will be lots of parades and platitudes, and many leaders will say kind and respectful things about Dr. King.

The years have placed a gauzy veil over the human rights leader.  People today forget just how extreme and problematic he was to the establishment.  He was a rabble-rousing Negro and it finally got him killed.

So how far have we come since then?

It will be fascinating to watch the Republican debate tonight.  Most likely one or all of the candidates will pay tribute to Dr. King.  But if he were still alive today, you have to figure a lot of these same candidates would be trying to jail him, denigrate him, and defeat his goals.

They’ll likely be mouthing platitudes about equality tonight.  But they’ll also be touting their plans to gut all labor unions.  Which is kind of ironic, in that King was gunned down in Memphis, while leading a campaign to organize the municipal garbage workers.

Dr. King fought for repeal of Jim Crow laws designed to suppress minority voting.  If he were still alive today, he would be livid, fighting the new voting registration changes taking place in 14 states right now.  The standard line is these new laws are to protect against voter fraud.  But of course the people they’re really going to affect are poor and minorities.

Dr. King realized that the real issue was poverty.  That is what keeps people suppressed as much as anything.  Tonight the candidates will argue about Bain Capital, and suggest their tinkle down economic policies will enrich all.  But their system is so skewed to corruption and exploitation, driven by lobbyists and loopholes, that millions don’t stand a chance.

Tonight the Republicans will be talking about their humane approach to “Gay rights” as though this is some kind of preferential treatment of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual or Transgender people – just like earlier politicians in the 60’s framed “Colored rights.”

Of course there is no such thing as Gay or minority rights – only human rights.  Your great grandchildren will look back on historic footage of these debates with shame, incredulous that there was a time when people could be marginalized and discriminated against in this way.

So expect some pandering from the candidates tonight.  But know that if Dr. King were alive today, they would be fighting against everything he stood for.

The guy who has demonstrated the most balanced, kind, and equitable approach for all is Jon Huntsman.  (He could actually have a rational conversation about things like evolution, climate change and the environment and refused to pander to the Tea Party extremists.)  But I expect him to drop out of the race today and not even be in the debate tonight.  With him gone, pretty much everyone else left advocates rounding up all the immigrants and throwing them back over the 30-foot-high electric fence they want to build.

The one guy left who advocates policies that would actually protect the poor and downtrodden in Dr. Ron Paul. That’s because he’s the only candidate in the race who supports the Constitution and Bill of Rights.  He’s also against the war on drugs, which is really just a convenient way to prosecute and imprison more minorities.  But 20 years ago Paul was publishing a newsletter containing anti-Semitic and racist comments.  All he can say is he wasn’t aware of it – in a newsletter with his name on it?

A lot of parades will take place today along streets named after Dr. King. Yet I wonder how many are named the way they are here in South Florida?

In Miami and Hallandale Beach, each have a street named after the civil rights leader in the black zip codes – but they conveniently revert back to the old name in the white zip codes.  About as symbolic segregation as you could imagine.

Yes we have a president of color in the White House, and that certainly is a momentous step forward.  But we have so far to go.  And we need a successor to Dr. King, now more than ever.

I have a dream.  A dream to see Dr. King’s legacy enacted – not just pandered to by politicians with platitudes and parades.  That’s what real prosperity is about.

  1. Hmmm, Randy, I have read this, with dictionary... and I have the same feeling, though I am living in different country. But I think our situation here is the same! When I see people on the street, talking about economy situation, people in politics etc... I ask myself. How can be situation better? There is no brave person who speak brave and don´t scare about the results. I don´t like these I do not like the crap in parliament, where at each other, poured ashes. And every new government refers to the previous wrong steps ... People are beating so that I do not even perceive what is happening around. Everyone crawled into his little house and doing my own way. I feel sadness when I read it now. It reminded me of what I live and how I also no longer pay attention to what there "above" talking. Thank you for the reminder. Well, it's time to stand up to what we like and begin to manifest. Now I just infects exactly how to do that. Thank you, I also have a dream, a dream where we all live in peace and love. Where we are all aware of our equality and knowledge that come from the same source, so we treat each other well. Knowing that we all deserve what we want and that there is no someone more or less...

  3. There is only one Man in the race for President who supports the constitution. He has 100% record in voting to uphold the constitution. The only man who supports liberty and freedom. The only man who has fought for the principles of the Founders and supports the bill of rights. Ron Paul is the last chance to make America Free again. If he doesn't win it will be Obama, the warmonger, big spender, Keynesian, NDAA supporter, can assassinate american citizens who are deemed to be a threat without trial or can be detained forever without a lawyer or a trial. This is crazy.

There is only one man who can reduce the size of the Monster and restore freedom. Obama got $1m from Goldman Sacs and gave them $2.9B in bailout money. Romney's biggest contributor is Goldman Sacs. He will be more of the same. Big government, regulating personal behaviour.

To bring up some comments from over 20 years ago which Ron didn't even write as the reason to not support him is ludicrous. Everything you have posted in your blogs is exactly the same as what Ron Paul has been saying for over 30 years. He is totally aligned with the principles of Martin Luther and others who want peace. He is the only one who stood up against the war in Iraq and the only one who will stand up against the war on Iran. To dismiss him for a few silly comments which he does not support is madness. Come on, you know he is the right choice! Anyone who falls for the media programming that he cannot win needs to take a real good look at themselves.

Lets not vote for who we think can win. Lets vote for who is the right choice. Who would Jefferson or Washington vote for? It is a no brainer. Randy if you do the right thing and endorse him then that is another big step towards making this happen. Or I hope you will be satisfied with Obama bin Killin, Flip Flop Mitt, Freddie Mac beneficiary Hypocrite Newt, anti gay anti muslim Santorum. If you vote any way other than Ron then you are welcome to those others. But don't complain when you are a slave to the state.

    1. @WDavidC You have some good points regarding Dr. Paul and his unwavering support for the Constitution and Bill of Rights. As a newsletter author myself, I can't believe anyone would publish a newsletter with their name on it, and not even read it. So I haven't decided on Paul. I am very intrigued with Gary Johnson. Stay tuned...

      -RG

      1. @Randy_Gage Gary Johnson is cool, if Ron wasn't in the race then Gary would definitely be my choice, but he doesn't seem to be doing anything. He isn't even on the debates.

On the Ron Paul subject, if some remarks published in his name by someone else over 20 years ago is the only thing anyone has against him then what an admirable character he is.

What if people went into all of our pasts and judged us on that. I have huge lists of things I have done and you said yourself that you have done many many things that would be so far from who you are today. Imagine we judged you on that rather than the person you are now who inspires the message of prosperity and freedom to people all over the world.

A man who has been consistent in defending the constitution 100% of the time. Fought against every war but still had the courage to go when he was drafted. Warned about the dangers of going against the founders foreign policy and the consequence of blowback, warning every year up to the 9/11 attack. Still fights against every war. Called the Stock market bubble in 2000, called the housing bubble in 2001 and explained in detail the problems, has been the only one calling out the corruption in the FED and now it is a national movement, is the only one warning that Obama and the FED is collapsing the Dollar. The only one who will cut anything and he will do $1Trillion in the first year (may only get half of that but still massive progress). No one else is addressing the fact that minorities are being locked up for life in the millions for intoxicating themselves.

Never been flip flopping, never caught in lies or changing his message for the audience. Always spoke out for truth when everyone hated him for it. It is a massive list of pros with one minor negative which was written by another person.

I read all your books, listened to all your audios, got every piece of material from authors you recommended and this is the consequence. Obsessed with Freedom. lol. It all worked anyway so I am very pleased.

I was broke and getting off drug addictions when I got your first material but with persistence made a 180 degree shift if you want a picture testimonial then click on my link and take a look at the results that came from your message of freedom and personal responsibility

        1. @WDavidC@Randy_Gage

WDavidC, I love your passion. I'm in Ron Paul's corner too.

RG brings the 20 yrs old newsletter comments to my attention. I was not aware of them a moment ago and it is interesting but honestly even if he was aware they were in his newsletter, which I'm with Randy I'd have to assume he was, I don't know if that would be a deal killer for me.

Face it, first off it just doesn't seem likely we'll ever find "the perfect man" for the job, someone any of us will agree with on everything. Secondly a quote comes to mind that feels appropriate here:

"No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man." --Heraclitus

Plus I happen to be a guy who prides himself on his critical thinking abilities and the more I think about it (in the few minutes here just now) I am less interested in Paul's personal views than I am on the likelihood of him imposing his personal views on our nation.I believe Ron Paul will promote freedom in every sense our great nation has ever known and what made us so great in the first place.

He's not a bought politician. I believe he's only in this game for love of country.

All and all, yes, I'm disappointed to hear there were comments out there that could be considered anti-Semitic and racist (I have to say it that way b/c I don't know what the actual comments were, nor do I really care) but I still like Ron Paul for a return to a more American America.

Anyway that's my 2 cents on all that.

        2. @Matt Shorty Wells@WDavidC Matt that is the point I am considering most before I decide. If someone truly can subjugate their personal views to the Constitution is the determining factor. -RG

        3. @Randy_Gage @Matt Shorty Wells @WDavidC What about the sixteenth amendmendment? I am not sure about this, but I think that is the one that makes taxation legal? If I am wrong, please excuse my ignorance. I didn't have time to look it up.

        4. @Randy_Gage@WDavidC

Randy, so it sounds like the question you're considering in your mind is "is it 'possible' for a person to put the greater good of country before personal ideals?" Said another way, "is it possible for an individual to place greater value on the bigger picture?"

It may be valuable to consider again the founding fathers. Given the commonly accepted ways of the time, it would probably be naive to believe there wasn't at least some level of racism or prejudice in at least some of their consciousness'. And yet the country was set up to establish freedom for all.

I understand slavery was still legal for some time afterwards and all that, but let's not get sidetracked. Freedom had to be "sold" in stages or it probably (most likely) wouldn't have been sold at all.

The only point I'm driving at is if the question is "can someone truly can subjugate their personal views to the Constitution" then I'd have to answer yes, I believe it's possible.

    2. @WDavidC Ideals and reality are two very different things. A leader is faced with a nation and world at crisis, and must do whatever he or she can to help solve these problems. I believe it is difficult to unilaterally impose ones opinions on the country and the world without having to do what needs to be done wisely about the reality at hand.

That is why I believ Obama became a killing machine. I don't like it, like Paul I don't support war or violence. But if I had to face HItler or Milosivic you bet I would have used force to stop mass murders.

I am not excusing Obama, I just don't think there were any easy answers or quick save to what had already been started in the middle east. What would Ron Paul have done in 2008 if he had become president do you think? Not what he would have wanted to do, but what could he have really done.

I am not saying anyone should give up their ideals, but a president really only has so much power. The congress has a say to you know?

I don't know if Ron Paul is a racist, but what I don't like about the comments in the newsletter, is that they were sterotypes and half truths. If Ron Paul is not interested in truth about the minorities conditions, he won't be good for the country. NO matter what one believes they have to be aware of the facts and not turn a blind eye on discrimination and it's causes.

      1. Randy also wrote about the voting registration regulations. These are a true offense against civil rights, and must not be allowed. It is not fair to prevent certain members of the population from voting. Would Ron Paul be the man to rid us of these offenses? Only if he is willing to codemn the messages in his newsletters, and admit to knowing of their existence, would I believe that he is.

  4. There is only one Man in the race for President who supports the constitution. He has 100% record in voting to uphold the constitution. The only man who supports liberty and freedom. The only man who has fought for the principles of the Founders and supports the bill of rights. Ron Paul is the last chance to make America Free again. 5. I would like to hear more solutions expressed. It is so easy to say or put the blame on the others, I don't feel we need one leader to change the course of the world, I feel we need many coming together for the betterment of the whole. What could each person who is not satisfied with the government do to make a change?

    1. @Jacki M SeiWell We can all vote for someone who will get government out of our lives. The difference between Ron Paul and Obama is that Obama was coming in to be our saviour and fix all of our problems. Ron Paul wants to repeal all the rules, regulations, taxes, military oppression and restore the freedom so we can all take care of ourselves and fix our own problems. We need to elect someone who can keep government out of our lives as much as possible so we can innovate, produce and create our own moral code to live by.

The founders new that the American people are much better when free. 300m people are much much better than a few hundred bureaucrats telling us what to do, distorting the markets, running up a debt that will collapse the currency and starting wars that will make us a terrorist target.

Ron Paul for Peace, Freedom and sound money!! All of us for everything else!!

  8. My favourite quotation from Dr. King - which I am paraphrasing, 'cause I haven't got this one memorized (I love memorizing):

"You don't have to see the whole staircase in order to take the first steps."

He was talking about developing faith. It applies, however, to just about everything. Wisdom indeed.

  17. On Martin Luther King Jr. Day let's remember that he was about hope. Although, it is an ugly struggle sometimes for people to be free, it is well worth the undertaking. He went out everyday knowing he may have to die for this ideal, but he was ready to do it. No, he did not believe in violence and he was never violent. He did not believe that people were different from one another in their humanity. In the end the problem is humanity. We are not as a world community as evolved as Martin Luther King JR. Let's keep our ideals and keep working towards them as Martin would have wanted, but all the while noticing our sombering realities. Know as Martin knew, and Ayn Rand knew that our individual love is the only thing that can save humanity.

There was more, but I wanted to say, but couldn't get it to post.

  19. Randy, I love this post. I don't know if Ron Paul is a racist. I think like you he surely knew about those newsletters. I was hasty in my anger earlier about it.

There may have been some truth in those newsletters, but you don't say those kinds of remarks, because it leaves so much of the truth unaccounted for. I feel sad that those newsletters were written. I agreed with Paul on lots of things. Of course I will vote for Obama. Even he did things I didn't like, but I know he is dealing with the realities before him.

I am reading "Atlas Shrugged", I like it. Are you like those characters? Do you have a meyers-briggs type code. Would you share it with us if you do? It made me curious to know what type you were while reading this book. Ayn Rand is an Intuitive thinker for sure, are you too? Anyway, I do like your post today. It was enlightening I am sure for many.

    1. @Annieb If you look at Ron Pauls record then it is obvious what he believes. He was treating hundreds of minorites for free while he was a doctor in the 70's and 80's while they were being turned away by other people. The drug laws are the most racist thing in America and he is the only one standing up against them even when he get hated for it. Ron has never said anything racist or acted in any way that would demonstrate racism. To discredit him for something that someone else wrote in his newsletter which was published while he was working 80hours a week as a doctor. Who is the only candidate which doesn't want to bomb everyone around the world? Check him out and see for yourself.

      1. Personally, I want to one create a media conglomerate that gives a damn about the about the people who are customers and employees rather than tossing people aside the way they do sometimes. This is something which Sir Richard Branson and Oprah have both done, and probably Martha Stewart as well.

      2. @ThomasMrak Yes, Thomas ENFJ's are great! They usually are very inspiring leaders. I am an INFP. But, NF is our temperment, so we share that in common.

  20. Randy, I love this post. I don't know if Ron Paul is a racist. I think like you he surely knew about those newsletters. I was hasty in my anger earlier about it.

  21. @Randy_Gage @Matt Shorty Wells @WDavidC What about the sixteenth amendmendment? I am not sure about this, but I think that is the one that makes taxation legal? If I am wrong, please excuse my ignorance. I didn't have time to look it up.

  22. He might have said something like this today:"I heard Citi Corporation actually openly tell their investors the US is a Plutonomy, where wealthy run the government and the government run the country for the wealthy. Now, wealth is a good thing, if you're not attached to it, and it shouldn't be used as a control mechanism.Libya is now part of the Rothschild banking system. Iran is next. I think I can see a theme here."Just my 50 billion dollars. lol

    1. @Per Lindvall Did you mean Plutocracy? (rule by wealth) Although Plutonomy is an interesting way of describing it: rule by wealth with "Democracy" for the people. This was what Rome became near the fall of the Empire. We're headed that way if people continue to do nothing. That's one of the reasons that people are afraid of wealth. They see people who worship power and control doing horrible things and they assume money made them that way.

A lot of people will cower in fear and not even try, and will tell other people the same.Money doesn't make people that way. They become that way or possibly were all along.

      1. @ThomasMrak I meant Plutonomy, a type of fascism. Everything Pluto is all about total control. Wealth and total control are different things, but not for certain people and not in the current system. Why the need for total control in the first place? People who need to control everything are stuck in a prison of its own, and it has nothing to do with wealth. I wonder why Richard Branson/Virgin "bought" Pluto, but I trust the best to happen, as always! 🙂

  23. He might have said something like this today:"I heard Citi Corporation actually openly tell their investors the US is a Plutonomy, where wealthy run the government and the government run the country for the wealthy. I think I can see a theme here."Just my 50 billion dollars. lol

  24. Great post, Randy! Accurate and humbling. But in our focus on how far we've got to go, let's not overlook how far we've come. The US is very different than it was 50 years ago, and I think Dr. King would be pleased with the progress, albeit uneven and unfinished, that we've made.

But I am worried. Like you, I despair that we seem to have no dreamers leading us anymore. We do need a successor to Dr. King. And Kennedy. And Einstein. Instead, we have realists and pragmatists. While the realists may get things done in the short term, it's the dreamers who make a long-term difference. I fear that 50 years from now that we won't have made the same progress that we've made in the past 50, because our leaders today are not dreaming of possibilities.

    jim

    1. @jimbarber And I am always being called negative. The dreamers are still around dreaming of possibilities. Have faith. Martin Luther King Jr. was a realist and a dreamer. It takes both. I think the grand thing is there are now so many dreamers of fantastic possibilites that not just one stands out.:)

    2. @jimbarber There is one person who has the same foreign policy as MLK and the founders. Maybe we don't need a new vision we just need to restore the true American Vision of Freedom, Individual responsibility, Sound money, friends and trade with the world. Ron Paul is completely aligned with the founders and has a history to back it.

  28. @jimbarber And I am always being called negative. The dreamers are still around dreaming of possibilities. Have faith. Martin Luther King Jr. was a realist and a dreamer. It takes both. 30.

  31. Was that really a fair Debate? Fox back at their old tricks of ignoring Ron Paul. He is in Clear second place and gets about 5 minutes in total. The establishment is really scared of him. That is a sure sign that he is the man for the job. Don't listen to any media rubbish about him. Check him out for yourself on youtube

  33. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L--vJg_gLew&sns=fb(Dr. King's speech on poverty.)Hard core Democrats are also bad too Randy. Some of the people who claim to care about the "little" guy are just as corrupt if not more so than the "how dare someone compete with me!" anti-success oriented Conservatives.A lot of people benefit a great deal from the vast majority being poor or middle class. I think the middle class mentality is the worst! Comfortable enough to deal with life, buy a few things to distract yourself, but easily one or two paychecks from the poor house! No matter how hard you work or how much dedication you put in, unfortunately some business people aren't interested in long-term customer and employee relationships. It's sad, because business people created the middle class in the first place by coming to an understanding that people were far more productive if they were comfortable.Unfortunately, the response of a lot of people at all levels of society, is to try to do what worked in the past. There are millions of college graduates who are unemployed or won't make enough to pay off their loans. While some of them were irresponsible, a lot of them were not.And since there is still a great deal of elitism in our society, unless you got into a top school or know people, it is very unlikely that the vast majority of grads will stand a chance at doing a traditional career path the way their parents and grandparents did.The sad fact is, the jobs that people would have been taken by people who did not attend University are being taking by college graduates, thus further impoverishing those who were not fortunate enough to have been raised in an environment where their success was a top priority.People can either suffer and "work hard" for diminishing returns, or they can take risks, be creative, connect, and innovate.

    1. The Federal Tax code is thousands of pages long, and since the average person isn't going to be able to afford an army of accountants and lawyers to help they comply with it all, that leave a lot of people who strive for more at the mercy of a legal system which punishes innovation and success.

      1. The last time we even came close to a Free Market was the mid-19th century. It all started to go downhill when corporations were given the the same rights as a living person.

        1. It's one of the reasons I need to find a way to be rich and influential. Only rich and powerful people will be able to convince other rich and powerful people to stop. This country needs to be a beacon of Light in the Darkness, not a place where you have to be born in the top 1% to even stand a chance.

        2. @ThomasMrak Agree that a lot is rigged. That is all the government. America was the greatest place in the world for poor people to go and get rich. Still about 75% or more of the Rich are first time money so the opportunities are still there in abundance. 50% of the people who were in the top 1% 10 years ago are no longer in that 1%. There is huge mobility between income classes.

But the more the government gets involved the harder it is for the poor to get up in the world. Starting at the minimum wage law, which is one of the most racist laws in the country. Include all the employee regulations and legal liabilities it is almost impossible for a low skilled minority to get their first job where they can learn skills and save some capital. In america you cannot get a job until your skills justify about $18 per hour. This has priced the poorest out of the market and the simple low skill jobs are ceasing to exist. Many shops and cinemas have huge lines, no one shows you to your seat, you pack your own bags in supermarkets and all the other jobs for low skilled people are just eliminated because it is not worth the price.

Then the FED prints away the savings of the middle class at about 10% per year and taxes about 50% of what is left away (federal, state, local, sales etc) If the government would stop messing with the market, get rid of the central bank, return constitutional money then the cost of employment would fall dramatically and wages would rise. America is now more Socialised that Sweden. 35% corporate tax in USA 25% in Sweden.

Most of the poor people on welfare are great entrepreneurs, they can easily buy and sell products. But they cannot understand the taxes and regulations so they don't start. If they do it without telling the government they get their money taken away and are forced back onto welfare with a criminal record. It can take up to 3 years to open a business in USA. Hong Kong is a few hours. China is 3 weeks.

America is headed the way the Soviet Union went and will crumble because of the government. If the government would just focus on protecting our rights and let us do the rest poverty would be 95% eliminated in a decade. But the more the government fails the bigger it gets, then the next failure is bigger and it expands even more.

          Prosperity comes from freedom.

        3. @WDavidC I sadly agree with you. Fascism for the looters and Communism for "The People" is where we are headed.Really upsetting when China of all places is more pro-business than the US. It's rare for people to even become Middle class without planning and encouragement these days. I totally agree and know for a fact most rich people made their money within their lifetime, and have had the good fortune of knowing that some wealthy people do like other people.Yes, unskilled/low-skilled labor jobs are going away, but so are many jobs which require vast amounts of education/experience. It's not only the government regulations making things harder, but people believing they have vast senses of entitlement. It isn't just poor people. Some middle income people have poverty oriented mindsets, and really don't think it is is their responsibility to help their children succeed. For example, one of my parents didn't really value education, creativity, or entrepreneurship, and valued a "good" Union or government job. Naturally, I did not fare well within our school system, and the days of playing catch up, or working your way up the ladder from janitor to CEO have long since ended.People can do a lot working for themselves, but you miss out on a lot of tax breaks and have no protection against liability as you would with filing the paperwork for a corporation. Since certain industries are SO tightly regulated, you have to already have money or insanely great credit just to comply with it all before the first day of business. This is probably one of the reasons that very few small stores and factories still exist besides the obvious: (not standing out from the competition.) They have to comply with the rules and regulations written for the benefit of large multi-nationals, who probably wrote them in the first place knowing that all but the biggest companies could comply with them. There is nothing wrong with a big business, but when businesses or trade organizations are the ones writing the laws, we're in big trouble! New wealth can't be easily created.Depending on what you are buying and selling and your jurisdiction, I agree with you on the rules and regs. Some cities even require Freelancers to pay for a business permit! Including bloggers!

        4. @WDavidC I lived in Philadelphia, and 3of the most common businesses for lower income people are small mom and pop convenience stores, small restaurants, and car sales/repair. All of these are EXTREMELY regulated, capital intensive, and highly risky.

Restaurants and stores have TONs of health laws and building codes to contend with. East Coast states all have inspection laws, and the auto sales/service sectors also has its own trade organizations running the show on top of that!No wonder people who are poor get into selling drugs.

        5. @WDavidC A lot of artists and other creative types support themselves by selling their work/teaching other people some of their craft. With the way we're heading, an individual artist is going to need the same permits/legal entities as a business or even a teaching degree just to profit from their labor.I bet the government would love to regulate every MP3 that's sold on iTunes and every piece of art on Etsy or eBay.

        6. @ThomasMrak They love to destroy businesses with regulations and taxes. The poor people in America used to do odd jobs to get income. They would do some labour jobs, help neighbours fix their homes, cut grass, do some painting, ironing, mend clothes, look after peoples children, furniture removal, buy and sell small products and a mix of different things this gave low skilled people enough money to take care of themselves. They could be flexible and do whatever job was needed.

Now that is illegal. You have to get permits and licences for everything and fill in huge amounts of form and get insurance for everything. People are forced into one industry working for someone else or setting up an established business which can be difficult for most people.

No wonder so many people are stuck on welfare. The do gooders have destroyed america. Smart, prosperous people will do very well in any situation but for the large amount of people the simple process of providing service is much to difficult and seems hopeless. If you don't understand taxes and laws then you are stuck at the low levels for generations. All this is supposed to help the poor but as usual government does a bad job with everything.

        7. @WDavidC Yeah, you can't even mow lawns for someone else without a permit. No matter how diligent you are though, you're going to run into problems. Being able to negotiate and right yourself is more important. Probably a good idea to keep track of things, and learn as you go.There is NO way to comply with it all, especially since all the time the rules are being rewritten. The laws are open to interpretation as well, it's not like they are written in a rational way. It's all about procedure procedure procedure, not about justice or fairness, which was the original purpose of rules and regulations.Creative types are pretty bad with this sort of thing too! Especially since making money is "selling out".A city in Florida even went after a couple of kids for selling Lemonade on a summer day because they didn't have a very expensive vendor's permit.Way to teach children "how dare you try to earn money yourself!". I suppose a couple of kids were putting bad chemicals in their lemonade. I don't think whichever government official enforced that was ever a child.

        8. @WDavidC Yeah, you basically have to be somewhat of a business person in today's world to succeed at anything. The days of the "good job" are over, so is "work hard" and succeed. Our conservation proves that way is next to impossible. It's why rather than just being a musician, it's better to be a musician with entrepreneurial tendencies.

        9. @WDavidC One side of the family is professional and some own businesses, and the other is "work for a living".I'd rather live to work than just maybe barely get by.

  34. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L--vJg_gLew&sns=fb(Dr. King's speech on poverty.)Hard core Democrats are also bad too Randy. 35.

  36. Personally, I want to one create a media conglomerate that gives a damn about the about the people who are customers and employees rather than tossing people aside the way they do sometimes. This is something which Sir Richard Branson and Oprah have both done, and probably Martha Stewart as well.

  37. The Federal Tax code is thousands of pages long, and since the average person isn't going to be able to afford an army of accountants and lawyers to help they comply with it all, that leave a lot of people who strive for more at the mercy of a legal system which punishes innovation and success.

  48. @ThomasMrak Yes, Thomas ENFJ's are great! They usually are very inspiring leaders. I am an INFP. But, NF is our temperment, so we share that in common.

Who is the only candidate which doesn't want to bomb everyone around the world? Check him out and see for yourself.
