How You Use Time

Posted By: Randy GageJuly 10, 2009

Last post we talked about the choices we make.  And almost nothing will impact your quality of life more than the choices you make about how you spend your time.

Most people are pretty unfulfilled.  Which seems ironic, because they usually make instant gratification decisions.  They want the hot fudge sundae, they want to watch TV all night, and they want to spend money they haven’t made yet.   They would rather avoid someone than tell them the truth.  Put off things they should do now.  They veg out on vapid entertainment, rather than do any self-development.

Other people make difficult choices.  Do unpleasant things early to get them out of the way.  Deprive themselves of certain things now, so they can appreciate them later.  They make sacrifices now, and ultimately have a better lifestyle and more fulfillment.

My mantra when I started my journey to success was a simple one, but it served me well:

“I will do today what others will not do, so tomorrow I can do what others can not do.”

So what kind of choices are you making on how you spend your time?

  1. Yes! I also stated on my blog that the road to success can sometimes be a never-ending ride because its the triumph of victory we hunger for again and again!

My time is spent washing and filtering my mind with CD's, books, exercise strategies, researching better foods to eat and if I watch movies, they're historical or helpful to my development.

I know I should never stop learning, never stop wanting to succeed and always having a target to hit because for one, if I stop, I know I start to fail; two, it's easier to turn a deaf ear to the masses around me as I focus and proceed to victory after victory because as I stated, this hunger for success is the most thrilling ride ever! It's not the destination, it's the journey I'm learning to focus on.

  2. Have you visited http://www.mindmovies.com yet?

Nothing in it for me other than - I just want to "pay it forward" & share the love with my fellow followers of Randy Gage!!!

What a concept Ryan Higgens has created - can manifest fantastic health, prosperity, joy & happiness - maybe anything & everything you really want into your life!

    Thank YOU!

  3. Lately my mornings are being spent working out. The reason is simple enough, yes I want to lose weight but I'm tired of always being in pain and too stiff to move.

So every morning when I'm tempted to skip the workout, I think of how painful it will be to climb the stairs in my house or do other activities I do like, like walking and hiking (especially in the mountains).

I am starting to feel the effects of getting through my workout each day. I am feeling better and yes the weight is starting to come off.(Yay!)

So yes, I am doing now what others will not so that later I can do what others cannot.

Thanks Randy as always for your insights and thanks for being my friend.

  4. I have no problem working, hard if needed, I just have to pay attention that I do THE RIGHT things! One couldn't believe how much of my previous effort was a complete waste of time and money. Now I work less, reward myself on the way and I'm doing much better than before, but the process of learning and growth nevers stops until our final breath.
    Yeah, Randy tought me...
    Love to all,

  5. Dear Mr. Gage,

I would like to thank you very much for your superb writings!

Would you allow me to post Russian translations (done by me) of some of your blog entries on my personal page at vkontakte.ru (a Russian social network similar to facebook.com) so that my friends who don't understand English can read them?

It goes without saying that you will be mentioned as the author and a link to a corresponding blog entry will be included in each translation.

I would greatly appreciate your reply here in the comments! Or, alternatively, you could e-mail me at ivanoff1981@gmail.com, which I fear is less convenient.

    Best regards,

  6. Great post Randy.

We make choices everyday that seem unimportant at the time and yet looking back can be seen as major turning points in our journey through life. You made the choice to be conscious of the choices you made and today those choices can be seen as ones which led you to where you are and who people see when they look at you from afar.

The people close to you will still see the same kid who left High School at fifteen as our closest friends always do, and the choices you made will be known to many of these friends but for those who follow you, they will only hear of the choices, sometimes long after they were made and judge you by where they carried you and not by why they were made.

The bottom line is this; make choices today that you will want to live with tomorrow because one day you'll no longer have the priviledge of life to make them.

  7. Dear Mr. Gage,

thank you so much for the prompt reply!

As soon as I translate and post your writings on my page, I will send you links to them so that you can verify that I mentioned you as the author and provided links to your blog entries.

    Have a GREAT day!

    Best regards,

    Thank you Neil

  9. Go to the Pay It Forward Foundation to see what they are doing. was a great movie and am using that as part of the sermon I am doing Sunday as a lay leader while our pastor is on vacation.
The Foundation is doing great work.

  10. Hi Randy,

Thank you so much for your contribution to this incredible industry of Network Marketing!

This is off-topic for this blog, but I have a question for you. After listening to your "Secrets of Network Marketing Success" several times, what is your opinion regarding using a quick "sizzle call" overview as the initial warm or cold market introduction?

Do you carry business cards yourself?

    Thanks!

  11. Great reminder - thanks Randy!

I, as soo many others, used to SPEND my time (on all kind of "No-Brain activities"; TV-series and what have we - even telling myself that my brain deserved the "time off" :-0)

Until I read the wise little book by Roger Hamilton; Wink & Grow Rich - where he teaches us to INVEST our Time instead of just SPENDING time.

You can spend your money on all kinds of "junk" - as you can just make some more money and so on.
But once your time is spent - you can NEVER replace it!

    So INVEST YOUR TIME WISELY

    - and if you do not have enough time yourself, then NETWORK - to be able to benefit from the time of others 😉

    Warm Networking Regards,
    Tina
