How You Manifest Prosperity, Part One

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 2, 2010

So KimbraLee started a great question on the last post, namely what is the difference between knowing you are worthy, versus having a sense of entitlement.   I believe the first is very healthy, and the second keeps you in victim-hood.

As she points out, many people don’t believe they deserve good things, having been told that most of their lives.  So they settle.  That’s why so many people live lives of quiet (or not so quiet) desperation.

You can’t be treated for prosperity; you must be open to receiving it.  And once you develop prosperity consciousness, you expect good things to happen.  You expect abundance.

The distinction comes when people think they are entitled to things because others have more than them or they “need it.”  The fact that you need more money (or anything else) doesn’t qualify you to receive it.  The world is filled with those less fortunate who could make very compelling cases for why they need things.

They could argue that Bill Gates doesn’t need billions of dollars, and they need $100 to pay the electric bill to keep the heat on.  But that is entitlement.  And it overlooks the basis for attracting prosperity: exchanging value.

Billionaires like Gates have attracted so much money because of the tremendous value they have provided for the world.  Think of how many schools, hospitals and governments run on the windows operating system, not to mention the millions of individuals.  (Now if you think that Gates and Microsoft don’t deserve the wealth they create and exploited people to get it, you should really read my book, “Why You are DUMB, SICK & BROKE, and How to Get SMART, HEALTHY & RICH!” I lay out the situation in depth there.)

Entitlement mentality says, let’s redistribute the wealth.  But that doesn’t change the core problem.  If you took all the money from the ten percent of the wealthiest people in the world and gave it to the ten percent of the poorest people, the wealth would be right back where it started from in less than a year.   Why?

Because the wealthy people became wealthy by creating value and to do so had to develop a certain mindset.  (This is why you’ve probably heard Jim Rohn say something to the effect that if you get a million dollars, you better work on becoming a millionaire quickly.)

Prosperity comes when your consciousness develops from “I need this” or “I deserve this” to “I will attract this because I’ll create the value for it.”

So just how do you do that?  Check in with your thoughts below, and I’ll pick up there on the next post.

  1. Great Stuff Randy,

You have hit a nerve within me and my vision to get this information out to the next generation. Let's stop this "entitlement" chain NOW.

Do not have this book. Got it ordered today.

  2. Good morning,

Well, prosperity conciousness is something I have been working on for sometime now. One main thing I have learned the hard way I might add, is that you need to expect prosperity from whatever direction spirit is going to send it. For a long time I was stuck on thinking prosperity was only going to come to me from one direction or course of action. But what I didn't realize at the time was, was that was my ego getting in the way and insisting on having it's own way. Some positive things have begun to happen for me now that I work on keeping my ego at bay and following the direction spirit will have me go.

I am finally starting to get it!

    Thanks Randy,

  3. I think John Lennon of the Beatles had it right when they said "I wanted a new pool, so I wrote me song".

How is that for thinking of attracting prosperity!

  4. It has taken some serious work, loads of reading, tons of re-wiring of my brain and finally, a burning bowl ceremony this past NYE to finally give up the entitlement crown I clung so tightly to.

Now, I know I'm WORTHY. WAY more empowering. WAY more.

  5. Randy, you mentioned in one of your posts that

"Prosperity comes from creating value-for-exchanges. When you do that, you manifest it."

What about folks who make their living trading stocks, commodities, futures or forex intra-day simply for pure speculation. Is this a way to create value? Some might say that profiting by trading minute swings in the market (assuming one can do so successfully) does not create any value.

    Any thoughts on this?

    D

  6. Both Napoleon Hill and Wattles agree on this point. We need to have faith and understanding that there is a thinking substance that permeates the interspaces of the Universe and that by impressing our thoughts and goals upon this substance we create it; AS LONG AS we are providing more USE value than cash value, and we proceed with an efficient action daily and are using the CREATIVE mind rather than the competitive (entitlement), the images of our thoughts become reality. We must also have a plan and adhere closely to it while maintaining DESIRE.

And as you've said repeatedly Randy, it's our BELIEF that we are worthy of receiving and are GRATEFUL for everything in Life, we achieve what the Universe has created, which is infinite. By not experiencing the Infinite Abundance, we fall prey to the limiting beliefs that hold us back from making a difference.

Those who feel they are 'owed' abundance because they're physically appealing or it's 'the way things are', live in a false reality. Unless we provide a higher value than we are compensated, we are not prosperous in any way.

  7. ...just to add my thought...a huge challenge is accepting the value that each of us can add. It's so easy to de-value ourselves. Something I am working to do is simply learn to accept thanks from others and allow myself to receive their gratitude. Am I making any sense? When some one says thank you....I must make a conscious effort to simply say ,You're welcome", instead of "Oh it's nothong...no big deal..whatever". We are our own worst enemies aren't we?
LOL...it's the little revelation that can have a life changing impact i believe.

    Thank you Randy...

  8. One could make the argument that this type of income is created through minute study and understanding of the market's behaviors. The value had been created through purchasing other people's books, seminars, CD sets, and investing money into the market itself. Gotta put money (or knowledge) in before receiving anything in return!

  9. One tool I have created is the yearly list of compliments I've received. In the moment of receiving the compliment, I pause for a moment and simply say thank you. When I get back to my office I type the compliment into this year's list.

This practice requires me to listen carefully, accept graciously, and then remember the compliment. If I brush off the compliment I won't remember what was said and will have nothing to record.

Rarely do I review the list... it's more a tool for the practice of gracefully receiving. It can be a spiritual or religious-style practice, much like meditating.

  10. I have read all your books, and I do agree that you have to develop a certain mindset to be wealthy. I have been working on this for a while and for me anyways, it's a gradual change, a gradual re-programing. But, I do love the journey. I learn and apply new thoughts every day and I like the new me.

    Thanks Randy . .

  12. Okee dokee. So you knew I would probably have to put my two cents worth in here, but I really wanted to hear a few other people’s insights before chiming in with the crowd. Seems like I could really benefit from assistance in reconciling two separate and distinct schools of thought that feed into the whole idea of prosperity consciousness. First one says: Prosperity comes to those who raise their own mental and emotional vibration to that of prosperity consciousness (i.e. – Jim Rohn’s idea of developing the mindset of a millionaire). Second one says: You need to generate some sort of service or product that adds ‘value’ to mankind in order to be worthy of receiving. (i.e. – Randy’s example of Bill Gates working and extending himself in some way to offer Microsoft for other’s benefit.)

To all of you then, I pose this question: What about a wonderful, loving mother and wife who stays at home for years instead of choosing a career or business and cares for her husband, home and raises her children with great values and morals? Does she not deserve prosperity because she is not out in the professional world doing something worthy of abundance? Or what about a rap star who can’t even read or write the English language and sings about rape, drugs and killing cops – but makes millions? I think if we are saying that one must offer ‘value’ in exchange for prosperity, then the real question is: What constitutes ‘value’? And the answer to that is different for each and every one of us – therefore, we can’t possibly conclude that ‘prosperity’ is only determined by how ‘hard you work’ or what ‘type of service’ you offer. There must be a huge internal component in determining the level of prosperity that one can rise to.

And the second question then, is: What constitutes prosperity? Because, again – while none of us will likely argue that financial abundance can certainly be a component of prosperity in one’s life, I believe there are many, myself included, who have felt extremely ‘prosperous’ in lean financial times or less ‘prosperous’ in easier financial times – having no direct relation to the size of their own bank account.

I wholeheartedly agree with what Randy said – that if given millions, most people within a year would no longer have the money or anything to show for it … check the statistics of lottery winners if you don’t believe this to be true. They have the temporary ability to raise their mental and emotional vibration in order to bring the money into their lives, but not the ability to maintain that vibration in order to sustain that level of abundance. And that is a testament to the fact that they have not developed an ‘internal’ consciousness of prosperity. They simply do not understand how to use that wealth in order to generate returns. They are lacking education, and perhaps also a sense of self worth. However, they will be the ‘messenger’ of that money throughout their year of spending and re-circulating, so they will deliver a certain level of ‘prosperity’ to the people and businesses who receive a part of that abundance through their purchases. And in that way … ha, ha – they offer ‘value’! It is an interesting interplay, is it not?

    KimbraLee =)

  14. When you just speculate and short shift, I don't think real value is created. But buying stock in a company which then funds its ability to expand can create a lot of value.

  15. Randy,
First, thank you for the last "Randy's Rants" entry! As laughter rang through the house, I also seriously appreciated the irony/sarcasm. You could have another" career as a comic, Gallagher style.
Common sense, manners and moral values are definitely an endangered species. Your entry above reminds me of your hypothetical "Island" scenario- value vs. entitlement. If creativity and value are not promoted, entitlement will surely destroy this great nation. I fear the worst is already upon us. I, for one, choose to earn, value and teach hard work/creative prosperity.
Thanks for being our partner, mentor and friend.

  16. One way to look at trading: There are an awful lot of jobs in the financial services industry -- and those jobs are held by regular people, not Madoffs or fat-cat crooks. Just people trying to pay their mortgages, like everyone else.

So when you trade, there's a whole economic system of folks in the back office who settle the trades, specialists, folks at the brokerage who are NOT crooks (mailroom guys, regular floor traders, assistants, etc.) So I look at at is an entire "trickle down" effect of a very robust section of the economy.

But the media likes to portray how eeeeevil Wall Street is, and everybody forgets about all the working stiffs in the financial services field. It's more of that media brainwashing that always goes on.

  17. I finally ordered the book: “Why You are DUMB, SICK & BROKE, and How to Get SMART, HEALTHY & RICH!”.

Prosperity comes when your consciousness develops
from “I need this” or “I deserve this”
to “I will attract this because I’ll create the value for it. "

I am always reading or working on something and right now it is to discover my purpose or passion and from there I can create value. I am figuring out what I was meant to do. Everyone is here for a reason.

I have friends who are stay-at-home mothers and I believe that that is their purpose at this point in their lives. They are creating value. And I think that your purpose can change during your life.

"You can’t be treated for prosperity; you must be open to receiving it. And once you develop prosperity consciousness, you expect good things to happen. You expect abundance."

My biggest strength is achieving and I have mainly achieved in my career. I wasn't happy in my career so I am shifting the focus to prosperity consciousness and adding value.

One definition of prosperity: Having success; flourishing:

For me this would mean to prosper in all areas of my life (to my best capabilities), not just to prosper financially.

  18. The only free cheese is in the mouse trap 🙂 You have to pay the price to get it.. it is not easy to change core values but that's the only way..
    Great Randy

  19. “I will attract this because I will create the value for it.”
That is my affirmation for 2010 and is going on my Vision Board and everywhere else I need to see it.
    Brilliant as usual Randy!
    Thanks
BTW - Happy New Abundance to y'all! (Been quiet of late as I've been busy enjoying and sharing the abundance of the season with my loved ones).

  20. I loved what Russian writer Anatoli Nekrassov says about women and money: 'Women are supposed to get money, it's not so important that they make it...' It's not exact translation, but you can get the idea. I absolutely agree with that... there is great value in time put into kids and family. That value will be rewarded, always...
That statement is also in correlation with all what Randy is trying to hammer into our head and beam into our heart - it's still about value... abundance comes if we let it, work for it and feel worthy... etc.

Abundance has many forms and they all are abundant:)

  21. hi Randy;
it's easy to think positive and think that we are worthy when you are free, but when we are in heavy trouble it's so hard to value ourselves. we should train it and make these changes in ourselves especially for the time we are in heavy trouble.
    best regards.

  22. Hi everyone, I haven't really chimed in my thoughts for a while, but I can't let this one pass...

I am in the process of extracting myself from a 12-year marriage from a man who is the King Lord Eminence Incarnate God High of Entitlement (KLEIGH for future reference).

KLEIGH is the owner of a very successful small business that should have been destroyed by the recession but has instead fared well. He has the admiration of the entire state region. He works hard at this enterprise, lots of hours, his whole heart and whole soul...

...and yet, he's never satisfied. It's like he's never quite finished being Entitled. And therefore I think that's the main problem with entitlement...it's addicting. And I imagine that giving it up would be akin to giving up smoking.

Are any of us "entitled" to anything? Maybe in some rare instances, yes. I, for example, will be entitled to alimony. Will I take advantage of this? Hell, yes. But I have a plan to take that alimony and turn it into something Real, like real estate and a Masters degree.

Will I miss KLEIGH's sense on entitlement? Hell, no!

  23. happy new year!!!

that is a clear teaching of the difference of the destructive entitlement mentality vs prosperity mentality which we are working with you randy..

    thank you
    gene

  24. I have a parent and sibling that have the entitlement mentality. I on the other hand have worked my bones off to create value. But those two irk me to no end. I look in the mirror and need to accept the fact that that's my issue. That's me feeling that i "deserve" more than they do. The universe has a way of taking care of itself. I need to keep on focusing inward rather than looking outward while I "compare and despair". Because that is sooooo MY OWN lack and entitlement attitude......

  25. great writing

but i am afraid off reading the title .. and loading my unconciuss mind with the mindset that i am "dump, sick and broke ... " uuhh thats dangerous stuff for my brain ..

    Klaus

  26. Thanks Randy, great subject. I believe that for many people it is simply easier to be a victim. They know that society says give back and help those less fortunate. The problem is that, they do not have to accomplish anything and we as humans are achievers and winners when we go deep inside and take a look at how we were created. Keep up the great work Randy. I need the information as I fight and scratch my way back to prosperity.

  27. I did not know giving tax-loopholes for corporations and subsidies was a way of creating value.
The biggest mistake the conservative mind makes is that it equates the power of one individual with a corporation.
Here in Florida,In the name of Personal Responsability and Free Markets are Republicans legislators have created $25 billions in tax-loopholes for the cronies friends.
During WWII,the top 1% of all income earners paid 80% of their earnings to fund the war. In 2000,The top 1% got most the tax-cuts and they didn't served. I waited for Bush and Cheney to send a family member to Iraq. I am still waiting.
The gap between what a workers makes and a CEO was 38 time in 1950, now is 168 times. The CEO's don't even need to make a profits to get their millions in compensations. We saw it with AIG when Paulson was giving millions in bonuses to people who bankrupted the company.
Maybe, You can explain why Google,E-bay and Oracle are located in California, which has higher taxes, rather than in Florida.
You love the Netherlands because of their open-mindness. You should study their tax-system and re-distribution of wealth.
They value for every Dutch has health insurance,a place to live and a way not to be homeless.
We are not going to agree in this one.
    A social democrat from Sweden.

  28. Please feel free to use it and spread the idea as you feel appropriate... the tool has done wonders for me.
I added my first entries to the 2010 list today! Remember, "what you focus on will multiply".

    Celebrate YOU this year!

  29. Also, typed compliments from TXT, emails, Twitter, etc ALL COUNT!! Be sure to acknowledge the compliments that come from ANY channel.

    21. hi Randy;
it's easy to think positive and think that we are worthy when you are free, but when we are in heavy trouble it's so hard to value ourselves. we should train it and make these changes in ourselves especially for the time we are in heavy trouble.
      best regards.
