How Batman, Cinderella, James Bond, and Lara Croft Keep You Broke…

Posted By: Randy GageDecember 26, 2019

In the previous posts, we talked about the negative mind viruses you receive from the education system, government, and organized religion.  These three sources of mind viruses lead us to the fourth, most treacherous one – the datasphere.  We’ll define the datasphere to include TV, radio, blogs, movies, books, magazines, podcasts, newsletters and now of course, social media. These are powerful, pervasive mediums.  And the more you are exposed to them (basically 24/7 for most people) - the more potential mind viruses get programed to your subconscious mind.

The datasphere provides an omnipotent multiplier effect to all of the limiting mind viruses perpetuated by the education system, governments, and organized religion.

Because of the scope, swiftness, and power of the datasphere, a meme that might have taken six years to traverse around the world in 1955 can now reach several billion people in a matter of days.   The most insidious quality of mind viruses is how they infect then parasitize the host to replicate the viruses into those around us.  The datasphere creates an endless loop of replication, creating “memeplexes” that are continuing reinforcing and propagating the viruses at the speed of the Internet.

The negative thought patterns created by the education system have been going on for at least a century or two.  The helpless, needy, and entitlement mindsets that governments and organized religion require to control their followers have been practiced for literally thousands of years.  Now with the advent of our modern datasphere, you are being assaulted with a digital tsunami of negative, toxic, and destructive mind viruses virtually 24 hours a day.  And here are the most widespread memes being disseminated in the world today:

  • You are not worthy
  • Money is bad
  • Rich people are evil
  • You have to sell your soul for money
  • You don’t deserve to be healthy, happy and rich
  • If you sacrifice now, you’ll be rewarded in an afterlife
  • It’s noble or spiritual to be poor
  • Companies have to be exploitative to be successful
  • You are not meant to be happy in this lifetime
  • To become successful, you have to be bad parent

You are receiving literally hundreds of these mind viruses every day.  They’re coming at you on a conscious level, and through a subliminal, subconscious pathway as well.  And this is where the datasphere unleashes its astounding power...

All of those negative, limiting, and destructive mind viruses that you received from the education system, government, and organized religion get focused, amplified, and supercharged to program you for self-harm.

Like most folklore, superstitions and delusions, memes or mind viruses are most effectively spread by storytelling.  So these mind viruses are inadvertently embedded in the stories we tell ourselves: opera, literature, television, plays, movies, blogs, newscasts, editorials and op-eds, and virtually all mass communication. Let’s break down how this plays out…

If you’re old enough to have been around when the superhero movie trend took off, you probably bought some popcorn and a ticket to the original Spiderman movie.  There’s a part when Peter Parker/Spiderman’s uncle says, “We may not be rich, but at least we’re honest.”

So what really happened as you watched that scene?

You thought you were simply gorging on some Milk Duds, enjoying a flick.  But what really happened is you were exposed to several negative mind viruses, and they became implanted yet deeper into your subconscious mind.  Because have you ever thought through what an expression like that really means?

“We may not be rich, but at least we’re honest” really means “Money is bad and rich people are evil.  Be very glad that we are not rich, because that means we are actually good, noble, salt-of-the-earth people.”

And in today’s datasphere you are receiving subliminal messages like these on a non-stop basis.  But before we get into that, you should know something else about mind viruses...

The more emotional they are, the faster they spread and the stronger their effect on you.  So any meme involving children or defenseless victims has mega power.

Think about the Spiderman scene: Why is Peter’s uncle raising him?  Because poor Peter lost his parents; he is an orphan.  And it would appear being an orphan is a worldwide pandemic in the stories we tell each other.  Take a quick look at the following list of orphans in fiction (particularly children’s stories):

Tarzan

Snow White

Huckleberry Finn

Tom Sawyer

James Bond

Captain America

Heide

The Boxcar Children

Mowgli

Dorothy Gale (Wizard of Oz)

Pied Piper

Little Orphan Annie

Hawkeye (Marvel)

David Copperfield

Po (Kung Fu Panda)

Poison Ivy

Batman

Robin

Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)

Finn (Star Wars)

Han Solo

Anakin Skywalker

Luke and Leia Skywalker

Rey Skywalker

Cinderella

Martin Brundle (The Fly)

Frodo Baggins

Worf (Star Trek)

Michael Burnham (Star Trek Discovery)

Superman

Supergirl

Firefly (DC Comics)

Harry Potter

Black Manta

Daredevil

Green Hornet

Oliver Twist

Professor X

Wolverine

Magneto

Cyclops

John Wick

Jon Snow

Daenerys Targaryen

Pretty much anyone with the surname of Stark.

Does that list just blow your mind?  There are certain archetypal characters seem to appear over and over throughout storytelling history, and the character of a child without one or especially both parents is at the top of the list.  As you can see above, not having parents seems to be the rule for superheroes.  Lots of other protagonists appear to have lost their parents and been taken in by others.  If the new family is cruel (Harry Potter and Cinderella) the power of the meme is boosted yet more.  Likewise, if our poor lonely orphans are left to fend for themselves. (Mowgli, Oliver Twist, and the boxcar children.)

You might be worried that there is a worldwide pandemic of some mysterious disease that is killing off the parents of all of these characters.  Or perhaps you think it’s a sinister plot by Hollywood writers.  The real cause of this situation is actually quite simple:  If you’re a screenwriter, you want to write a screenplay like the movies that impacted you the most.  If you’re an author, you want to write a book like that ones that spoke to you.

Simply put, the writers subconsciously followed the formula: They were exposed to mind viruses, got infected and parasitized by them, and then continued to spread them.

And that boys and girls, is how memes take over the world.  Now if the predominant memes circulating were simply heroic stories of orphans overcoming the loss of their parents, perhaps we’d simply be inspired.  Or if the majority of memes were ones suggesting that you are worthy, and meant to be healthy, happy, and prosperous.  But those are not the kind of memes gaining mass circulation.  Check back on the list at the beginning of this post.    You are being fed these memes in a conscious, subconscious, or unconscious way, literally hundreds of times, every single day of your life.  And they are causing you to self-sabotage your health, happiness, and prosperity.  Which is what we will explore on the next post.  Until then, please share some of your mind viruses, I mean thoughts, below.

Peace,

- RG

  1. Wow! The number of orphaned or single parented kids had never seemed obvioys until now. Thanks for sharing your mind virus', i mean thoughts...i mean observations

    Another great post RG.

Looking forward to you book in the new year!

  2. Good thing I don't like sci-fi... ha ha.. seriously though, being a journalist, I used to get so into all the doom and gloom in newspapers and broadcasts.. now I just ignore it and am tons more happy.. like to read or watch the human interest or happy story, love the stuff the positive guy, Steve Hartman, does on Sunday morning on CBS.. as for neg memes.. glad you pointed them out, really all around, aren't they?? Said to a gal at work on Christmas eve, I always love to watch Scrooge be so happy when he realizes the error of his miserly ways.. and if the premise of a Christmas Carol is a neg meme so be it... I really sincerely believe the world is getting better and better... funny I remember seeing this pitch on either on Dragon's Den or Shark Tank about outfitting your employees with sleep stuff so they can have a cat nap... and Herjavic and O'Leary were so old school, like, are you fucking kidding me? you want me to pay you to sleep on my dime? But if you look at the most successful companies in the last 20 years, Google, Apple, Facebook, etc.. they shower their employees with perks and don't care how many naps you take as long you deliver results.. and I really think that's the way things are going.. and love it.. cheers..

  3. Hello Randy, you must have skipped a tiny part in the sentence "These are powerful, pervasive mediums and the more you are exposed to them (basically 24/7 for most people), the more potential mind viruses {I think here "you get" is skipped} that can program your subconscious mind."
And coming Happy New Year for everyone!

  4. Here is my list. I keep jotting them down whenever I notice one. This of course means that most of the movies I can't watch longer than 10 minutes.

Titanic: the poor dude saving the rich woman from being among boring rich people. The best party is at the third class. For sure… among rats. Later we can observe how the rich people are climbing over poor people to be saved, while the saint poor Dicaprio sinking into the oblivion.

    Amazing.

Elysium: the rich people leaved the planet to live in the cold space, withholding their “resources” from the poor people, who just inherited a whole planet, but they can’t turn this into their advantage. Sadly, many people have no idea that the riches are rich because other people paid for their goods and services voluntarily. So how did they get rich while they offering nothing in exchange, including the “cure anything” machine? Also how do they can control the whole world with robots? Also don’t they need a society at all?

Similar thing exploited in the movie Alita: Battle Angel.

Ready Player One: the evil rich dude wants to kill everybody just to be able to put advertisements into the game, but the saint and oppressed poor people save the world from that. Also, what is wrong with advertisements at all? Aren’t they offering you stuff?

The Dark Knight Rises: at the end, orphan Batman gave his castle to the orphans, instead of keep running his company and support the poor by that. Great gift, thank you!

Spiderman (dunno which one): the poor and orphan Parker watching how his love of life are seduced by an asshole rich people, and also how his rich friends turning into evil. Later May says the classic sentence: maybe we are not rich, but at least we are honest.

Thank you May, you just categorized everybody who have money for being dishonest, and pushed endless amount of people into poverty who accepted your propaganda!

New Jurassic Parks: the evil rich dudes stealing and selling dinosaurs by killing as much poor people as they can, but a cloned orphan, a lower-class dude (who building his own house alone in the middle of nowhere), and a middle-class / rich woman (who are an asshole anyway) prevent them to do that.

Leave No Trace: a mentally disordered homeless risking his daughter’s life constantly. At the end, the girl choose to be simply poor instead of a homeless, while her father degraded himself back to the tribal level, so the girl became orphan.

Alien movies: the evil company sacrificing any ordinary citizen or soldier to study the Xenomorph and make a weapon from them, but the soldiers and - in one sequel - a newly orphan prevent them to do this.

Avatar: an other evil company try to exploit a whole planet by oppressing saint tribal dudes. We also have a doomsday overpopulation / depleting resources propaganda in this movie, just to make the things better.

Shameless series: the saint poor people surviving day by day with extreme cooperation, while the rich dudes looking down on them.

Star Wars movies: the resistance in lots of cases are living in extreme poverty. Skywalker(s) risen in desert while they trading garbage. Yoda chose to die in a swamp. Villains are always extremely rich and they have everything, while the good folks are always struggle (surely have some exceptions).

Tomb Raider (2018): the mentally retarded (boy)girl refuse to take her inheritance, instead, she go after her father broke, with an other broke dude who has a hardly functioning “boat”, instead of hiring some guns and go to the island with Apache choppers. Her decisions costed lots of lives, including her father’s. At the end, turns out that we have an other evil company which wants to destroy the world and killing and exploiting poor people, and the girl became orphan.

Fight Club: consumerism and capitalism are bad. “Only after we lost everything that we’re free to do anything” said the useful idiot who owned and controlled the laborers of the whole city, for free. He explained while looked perfectly that nobody have to be perfect and Calvin Klein is an idiot. He also wanted to produce nomads, while forced Raymond to be a doctor. At the end, they produced endless amount of dead bodies by destroying the monetary system which kept the people alive, saying that they are freeing people and not killing them.

Terminator movies: the poor orphan John Connor saves the world because he is the only dude who have military skills, even if he doesn’t have them yet. The evil, rich company invent the Skynet trough a rich, black dude, who has been killed at the end.

Bud Spencer and Terence Hill movies: they are always broke, the evils are always rich, and they end up broke, no matter what.

The Magnificent Seven (2016): the evil capitalist exploit, killing and chasing away people, but a group of dudes kill all of them. One might wonder why the “capitalist” didn’t give jobs to the people instead, and build a whole city over his fortune, producing endless goods and services to keep himself rich forever, instead of killing the workers.

Ready or Not (2019) - The low-middle class girl enters a family which got rich by the help of the devil. The main theme of the movie is that you have to sell your soul to the devil for money, rich people therefore bad ("a completely different class", as one of them described), dishonest and misled. Some of them look extremely weird and everyone of them can kill for money.

Love At Second Sight (2019) - The guy get rich and famous while the girl remains relatively poor. The guy becomes an egoistic asshole, while the girl who doesn't rich and famous remains "normal". Later they solve their relationship by understanding that money and success worth nothing. The girl's clothes are that artificially want to scream "poor / middle class" that that is completely ridiculous.

The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) - An alarmist, doomsday propaganda movie about how the people mess up with everything on Earth, and how the military is completely stupid. It is a remake of a 1951 movie, which is scary that they started this idiocy that long ago. There are many idiocies in the movie, for example, a disguised alien states to an other alien (Keanu Reeves) that the humanity is deserves to die but he will remain with them because he loves them.

  5. Amazing post, just like so many you post. Had never seen the side of the orphan, yet always aware of the way that Hollywood can always sell the "we always are missing something we shall find to be complete or happy".
