Hanging with Multi-Millionaires

Posted By: Randy GageAugust 15, 2010

Last post I told you about my friend Diego, who is the person I am closest to in the world, yet he makes less in five years than I sometimes earn in a weekend.  I questioned what my life would be like if all my close friends were at his socio-economic level.

There were some great responses in the comments.  Rene thought I would earn about what he earns and wouldn’t care a hoot about it.  Carmen and many others felt if everyone in my inner circle earned what he did, I wouldn’t be where I am.  Eric suggested that other areas in my life might go un-inspired.

David correctly noted that Diego has inner peace and that is attractive to me regardless of his income.  But if he was a whiner or exhibited victim mentality the attraction would fade fast.

Here’s my take on the situation…

I certainly know that having Diego in my life is great for both of us.  He is a precious friend, and I know he helps me challenge and strengthen my own beliefs.  However, I’m not sold that it would be good to have all five of my closest friends at that level…

I’m afraid that I would have a much smaller vision, and not attempt the great things I deserve and are capable of.

Now let’s look at the other side…

I have another close friend who I’ll call “Andy.”  Andy came to the States not knowing the language, with $300 in his pocket.  Today he is worth millions.  Lots of them.  He has about eight different companies, one of which is a bank he started.  This bank now manages assets of more than $80 billion.  He has a beautiful, breathtaking home, wears gorgeous $10,000 suits, and lives with style.

While he is tremendously driven and very successful, he hasn’t done so at the expense of what is important to him.  Which in his case, is God, family, and contribution.

Andy and his family love to travel, so he takes 90 days of vacation, every year.  He flies his entire family around the world, First Class, so they can discover it together.  He is also a serious philanthropist, having created several foundations that have raised millions of dollars for those less fortunate.  Every time I am around him, I am grateful for the different perspective he gives me on this world, and how we fit into it.

Now what do you think would happen to my consciousness, my income, and my vision of what was possible, if my four other closest acquaintances were at the same place where Andy is at?

P.S. Did you watch the latest episode of Prosperity TV yet?  It’s on how to use the power of ideas to manifest prosperity in your life.  See it here: http://www.youtube.com/randygage

  1. Randy, I think that if 5 of your closest friends were like Andy they would inspire you to much greater heights. Since Andy seems to have a very balanced life, I would say that 5 friends like him would rocket you into the stratosphere of mega results in most or all areas of your life.

  2. How do you hang out with multi millionaires when your social circles don't have such people around?

I can think of joining a golf club or something, but in the country I am living in, the price is ridiculously high.

    1. The high price is to keep the plebs out! That is why the wealthy go there. To be with those of the same or higher financial levels. 🙂

    2. You can hang out with them by reading their books, watching their video's, listening to their audiotapes, reading the magazines they read etc. And if they haven't written books, made video's or audiotapes you can read and listen to what other people have to say about them. If you do this often enough people of their level of success will come on your path. Unknowingly, you have taken the first step already: You have made Randy enter your circle of friends. Make sure he holds a top 5 slot.

  3. If all of your friends were like Andy, You wouldn't be rich. Who ould pay to come see you and buy your books, etc.

    1. I still would. Because you never know what snippet Randy has picked up that I have missed. But then again, I don't think being "rich" is an endstation.

      1. Hi Anonymous, how do you figure that just because all of his friends are rich, that he wouldn't also be rich? Isn't that a bit of "lack" thinking? And, it's a big world; there would still be plenty of people to see him speak and purchase his resources. Why? First, because it would still leave billions of people in the world who he doesn't hang out with. Secondly, the more successful someone is, the *more* they are going to appreciate learning from someone who is already successful. With all respect, check your premises.

    2. Dear Anonymous,

It would appear that you feel Randy makes money OFF people, and uses them to get rich. And if his friends were rich they wouldn't buy his books. What I find is interesting is that I can bet his really successful friends are the friends ones to buy his books when they come out.

I've been friends with him for a while and I don't think he's ever told me to get his books. I have them - but he's never told me to get them.

As Bob says - to check you premise - what I hear you say he that he uses people. I have to say this is not my experience. He's a very generous hearted man! What Randy DOES do is work with people to create financial freedom. He's helped hundreds of people achieve amazing results...

      1. Yeah, I know that the richer they get, they buy MORE of Randy's work to give away. What better way to contribute to those less fortunate than to give them the knowledge to help themselves?

  4. Randy,

I think you are showing us the wheel of our life. Diego is the Spiritual part. Randy is the financial wealth part, I am sure we will meet Alice and Ralph within the week and they represent family and health. LOL, but serious. We can have different people who fulfill different needs in our life at the same time.

    Thanks,
    Jim

  5. Of course you move towards becoming more like him. But you touch a very important point and that is that he hasn't done so at the expense of what is important to him. Now "expense" is something most people associate with money but the way it works with Andy is that it is not associated with money but with value. And both Diego and Andy hold their values very high. The only difference, as you correctly point out, is that Diego might have a more limited vision than Andy. Might, because I don't know him so I cannot judge this correctly as I would base it on the info you have given me. And second hand info is by nature not of as high a quality as first hand info. Even judging on first hand info is near impossible as even ones own interpretation of info is biased.
So to answer your question who you would be: More like Andy's.
Now a question to you: In which case would you be happier? Can you be ABSOLUTLY sure of that answer. Absolutly being without ANY doubt?

  6. Randy,

I love what you have to say,but one thing I have been learning about, and I am on a quest to figure out is, how can people who are creative become wealthy?

    You know- artists, musicians, writers,etc.

That's the journey I am on now, how can I can put the creativity that springs from music to greater use in the world?

    1. Last time I checked JK Rowling was doing okay. And Elton John, Paul McCartney, Stephen King, U2, Madonna, John Grisham, and James Cameron seem to be getting by as well.

The rules for artists are the same for everyone else. If you create value for the universe, it rewards you with prosperity. Watch the video I mention about the prosperity power of ideas. Harry Potter, Terminator and "The Firm" were all ideas.

      -RG

      1. Thanks for the examples Randy.

The herd looks down upon creativity. The people you mentioned are exceptional people, and they're so eager to point out all the failures, and lost dreams, and how everyone should give up silly dreams and give up their life to something else.

One thing I know is, the people who have succeeded, didn't do it just by chance. JK Rowling is a big one- her book was rejected by a lot of publishers, and she was struggling a lot at the time.

Yeah, sometimes people get lucky, but I think more often than not, they are pulled by the gravity of their dream.

I refuse to give up my creative impulses any more, and I accept that I could be like Howard Roark, and spend my life making things happen.

  7. BTW,

My boyfriend's dad was a business man. Upstanding guy, went to their country club with the family.

It was absolutely wonderful, and everyone was so kind.

I don't understand now why people in the herd think everyone who is rich is so evil. Yeah, there are some bad apples, but there are bad apples at all levels of society.

I mean, look at Donald Trump- when the Wall Street fiasco was in full swing, he was deriding people for that on CNN, and well, he warned about the consequences of socialism....

I am like Ayn Rand, socialists impacted my life adversely. Only through innovation and creativity can we change the world, not by saving everyone from themselves.

  8. One more thing it depends why you "hang" with them...why you are there? One of my millionaire friends tells me things about his personal life that he tells know one else. He does this because with me he just feels he can talk, he’s 20 years older and has always been a solid friend.

I have meet his millionaire friends one of them is worth close to $500 million which he earns about 10% on each a year. It just depends on were you want to come in, I could not do some of the things these guys do but it’s what they do, it’s how they define themselves, you know?

I think Randy made some interesting statements in his last video, about contribution and the size of your idea. I think personally when I think about making money, there are several ways to approach it but the “size” of the idea your working with is a critical component. Some generate more returns then others. For me the idea has to be congruent with who I am, I have to be able to sleep at night.
Also Randy you and I have meet in Australia back in 2000, we drove around in a limo in Sydney you said something interesting while in that car, it’s a bit of a story but it has stayed with me. Personally I never really measured you by your income like others did; I found you to be an authentic version of your self, and that was the greatest example to me.

  9. Just a quick thought: there have been several excellent comments thus far and, while I don't want to leave anyone out, I'd like to congratulate Rene on her very wise response to Dimitri's question as well as some of her other thoughts.

  10. As we know, most people on this planet come from a victim mentality, or they wouldn't be here, simply based on the DNA blueprint, or actually DNA programming, for so called Human Beings on this planet, that invites oppression and tyranny. This is what is being taken advantage of in all kinds of ways, not least in many relationships.

This is also why people actually must deprogram and reprogram to send out a different frequency than they used to come here in the first place.

When you also realize that you yourself are the most fascinating person you will ever know and even learn from, you will also attract the right people to your life, for whatever purpose and regardless of what they do, or currently do.

    1. "...DNA programming...that invites oppression and tyranny." That seems like a rather negative premise. Are you sure that that serves you?

      1. I don't see that as a negative premise but rather a truthful statement. I would also say it is good information that can help people progress by working on themselves, now with information to understand where they come from and need to go.

  11. Randy you said that these last few posts were all about how to get a circle of friends that are wealthy. As yet you have not mentioned a how. You have only mentioned the consequences of each circle.

Hopefully that is where you are heading in the next post before you get to another topic?

Remember, next post about how to get the new circles please 🙂

    Thanks

  12. Randy,

True wealth is having abundance in all areas of your life. You are giving us great examples of close friends that contribute to some of those areas (financial, spitituality) and inspire you. I think that is the key, to have a close circle of friends that inspire you in all areas of your life. Not to say that Diego and Andy are not well rounded, but if either was the only type of person you were close to then that would limit your exposure to the areas they excel in, where they might possibly be lacking in some other area (health and fitness for example).

Great thought provoking post that makes me think about the people I'm around the most and how we contribute to each others lives.

    RJ

  13. If your other friends were multi-millionaires and successful in other spheres of their life like like Andy is, you would find yourself after a while at the same level of consciousness as them. Then you would make new desicions and act another way. That would raise your prosperity to the same level as their was.

  14. I am a new reader of yours, Husband and I plan to be millionaire's with both of our businesses. Can't help and bless others nor create new foundations without the funds to do so. Thank God for the abundance and the willing people to teach others.

  15. Calling wealthy people evil is submitting to your subconscious mind you don’t want to be wealthy. It is that simple. Be happy for them, it means it is ok for you to be wealthy. Even when I know some got to where they are by taking from others, I let them be with my thoughts. They will reap what they sow when the time comes.
