Wow, I so love to hear stories like this, when people studiously apply my work and create such results. I'm humbled and honored. And salute you for your efforts. bravo! -RG
See ... Here’s my confusion. You suggest, convincingly - at least initially, that we all need to “take credit” for what we’e accomplished. And, yes, I agree we’ve all accomplished some great things, even the most despicable of us!
But this post includes things others have accomplished that YOU would find worthy. I’m sure when you’re with others and these ‘rhings’ come up in the conversation, your body language if not your words convey your beliefs.
I get that we should have self-worth as well - even if others don’t notice, or convey it if they do. But what if it’s our egos overvaluing what we’ve accomplished and that’s why no one else had noticed - nothing worth noticing ... It sure would be motivation for believing in our worthiness if others noticed.
I just read today’s blog post from Seth Godin about his new book out today on marketing. Does it come down to our having to market our ‘things’ that WE believe worthy to see if they are indeed worthy???
Still Considering all of this ... BUT here’s one notion that I believe strongly: that we can AND SHOULD acknowledge the actions of others when we notice and appreciate them! It will help with their self esteem and encourage their continuation, their improving as they do so. It plants the seeds of what we might accomplish in similar and even totally different situations. AND hopefully our acknowledgement will be noticed by others who will engage more / have higher self esteem as well.
BOTTOM LINE: We’re all in a more positive place and everyone’s lives are improved!!!
Totally agree with your thoughts, "we can AND SHOULD acknowledge the actions of others when we notice and appreciate them!" A;l I'm suggesting is you give yourself the same benefit. -RG
What about having the courage to 'KNOW THYSELF' which is a message inscribed in the forecourt of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi, but is a path most people do not want to follow.
Awesome article! I get addicted on this blog and to Power Prosperity Channel. Xoxo
Yes, I will give myself more credit but will you please tell my bank to do the same thing.
Just curious, you live in high rises, do you avoid the balcony, my fav spot in a lot of apartments.. cheers David
I have an ongoing "Curriculum Vitae" (resume) file on my computer, even though year 2001 was the last time I was an employee. I expanded the CV concept to listing accomplishments from all areas of my life: 5K walking races I completed, webinars I hosted, seminars & courses I attended, adventures I experienced (such as counterweighted high wire bicycles/unicycles and glass floors). And each year I keep a separate digital file of compliments I received during that year. Sometimes other people's observations (compliments) remind me of the things I do that I take for granted. Both files help me remember the awesome things I have accomplished and experienced.
