Give Up “Martyr Mode”

Posted By: Randy GageJuly 13, 2018

The martyr position has already been filled.  I did an episode on my Prosperity TV channel about this, but the subject bears repeating.  There can actually be goodness in selfishness.

If your own needs aren’t being met, you’ll be no good to anyone else.  Of course we all will face situations when we choose to prioritize someone over ourselves. Parents do this all the time with their children.   If you have an elderly parent or a family member with special needs, you might be conflicted at how you can handle everything for everyone.  I get that.

A lot of times, there are no easy solutions.  But one thing I know for sure.  When you switch over to “martyr mode” and all your time and efforts are spent meeting the needs of others – you are setting yourself up for a horrific breakdown.

You have to make sure your needs are met, or you won’t be any good to anyone else.  If you really want to save the world, you have to do it from your surplus; your abundance.

Make time for yourself to eat right and exercise.  Make time for relaxing or hobbies.  And carve out the time you need for self-development.  Your job is to become the highest possible version of yourself.  And when you do that, you help the whole world.

  1. I assume you're going to talk to the Catholic Church about martyrdom. While you're at it, try to convince them to drop the bullshit concept of sainthood. It's time for Catholicism to come out of the Dark Ages.

    1. Catholic Church is just a business model and quite a good one, at least for the time being, this is not a compliment by the way, just an observation. Trying to make more out of it is an exercise in futility, it's in one bag with fortune-tellers and other crooks just longer in the business, well established through crusades, pyres and other subjugation practices. Catholicism can't come out of dark ages since it's a business model designed for Dark Ages. It shall devolve and wither away since it can't withstand the information society and power of logic. Empty churches and Rome reaching out for new customers in developing South America (their client base in developed countries is shrinking since they know better) are a sight for sore eyes.

  2. "There can actually be goodness in selfishness." EDIT: There is much goodness in selfishness, the truth is a lion needs his meat first thing, you don't see him sharing with hyenas! Now go and get some meat and don't you dare feel bad about it! 🙂

  3. I totally agree that we have to take care of ourselves. It's important to eat right, get plenty of sleep and most importantly, keep control of our mind and the thoughts we think and the things we focus on. There is a balance and a season for everything and sadly I see so many of us out of balance with this subject. The world is so self consumed with themselves that they think this is what it's all about and natural.Selfies have become a way of life. Letting the world see us youthful, is a new hobby. I see people trying to look younger and going to excessive measures to accomplish it. I see botox a mile away. Who doesn't know when someone has had a facelift. I really wish people would celebrate more of who they naturally are instead of trying to be someone they are not. Great health starts with great esteem. Love yourself a little more. Be kind and grateful. It will show on your face and it will increase your energy. There is nothing more attractive in a person to me, than a naturally gracefully aging human being. We are not supposed to look 20 at 50. If you think you need to capture your youth, ask yourself for who? I think you will be very disappointed by the people who are searching for the fountain of youth in a lab. It will bring you to a place of disparity, not prosperity.

  4. Make time to work if you can. Do the best you can to eat healthy, exercise, personal development, career development, hobbies etc. Prioritize what you need and want to do, and be happy with what you get done.
