Happy Freakin’ Friday!
Here’s your tasty new edition of Friday Filosophy – the weekly postcard where all the cool kids hang out because I challenge you with a question, idea, or topic you may want to think about. Today let’s look at the concept of self-mastery.
The simple definition of this is self-control, but I believe there is a lot more to the concept because self-mastery is the ultimate superpower. You don’t just control yourself; you challenge yourself, meet that challenge, and become a better person because of it. We could say that self-mastery is the result of proper self-work. To continue this hyphenation festival, the self-work you do toward self-mastery cultivates the necessary self-awareness to override your base instincts and hyper-emotional reactions. Self-mastery allows you to be calm, rational, and in harmony with your environment – even in the face of danger or chaos. You allow new evidence to change your mind about beliefs, you’re able to separate emotion from reality, and you no longer need to create an identity to defend. This state of mind empowers you to live your life according to principles such as purpose, reason, and self-esteem.
I’m starting something intriguing on the Power Prosperity Podcast. Beginning this week, we’ll be counting down the top five deadliest causes for why people fail. Check it out and let me know what you think!
The 5th Deadliest Cause of Failure
Have a great weekend. You look amazing btw.
