Getting High on the Rapture

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 9, 2011

You ever have one of those days that started out magical, and only got better from there?  Today was that day for me…

It’s my last day in Maui, and while it’s been amazing, I realized I was deficient in two things this week…

It’s been fun masterminding and hanging with dear friends.  Did some brainstorming sessions and those are always cool.  Spent time sitting by the pool, watched the whales go by, and did the Luau thing.

But the two things I was missing were earth energy and alone time.

So today was a day just for me.  Had a two-hour hot stone massage and a 90-minute reflexology session.  Took a barefoot walk along the beach, and sat in the grass.  Then I went in the ocean and just let the Pacific wash over me.  Then things got better…

I’ve been staying in a football field sized ocean front suite at the Grand Wailea, one of the most spectacular resorts in the world.  Had dinner at their signature restaurant, named after the Hawaii state fish.  If you’re a scrabble payer, this is the word for you:  Humuhumunukunukuapua’a!

It has to be the best restaurant in the islands.  It’s a thatched roof structure, floating on an oceanfront saltwater lagoon, teeming with tropical fish.  The food is simply sublime.  My table was getting prepared, so I stood in front of the aquarium.  Now it’s the same aquarium that was there the other night, but tonight I really saw it.

There was an amazing yellow clown fish, about a dozen luminescent silver ones you can almost see through, a bunch with three shades of blue, and another tiger striped gray and blue.  Just watching them dart back and forth was a spiritual experience.

When I sat down, Bob Marley, No Woman, No Cry was wafting through the speakers.  (Click here for the same soundtrack http://blip.fm/~10j2yq while you read the rest of this.)

The sun had set, but it wasn’t yet night.  There was a mauve glow behind some dark clouds over the water, and a cosmic light show being provided by lightning in the distance.   I felt a peace like I haven’t experienced in years, getting high on the natural rapture.  It felt like I was communing with God, which of course I really was.

Not sure why I’m telling you all this.  There are no questions to ask you, no challenge to give you.

I could ask if you’re taking alone time, or stopping to appreciate the prosperity all around you, but that almost seems sacrilegious to the experience.  So I guess I just wanted to share it with you.  I’m heading to the airport in a few, so mahalo and aloha…

  1. Randy, your day sounds amazing. This is a beautiful post. Thanks for sharing it. I love spiritual experiences alone in nature where I'm communing with God, feeling the wonder of it all and knowing the interconnectedness of everything. And I think it's so important to know what we need and to take the time to meet those needs - - it's fantastic that you knew that you needed earth energy and alone time and that you took a day for that.

  2. I know the feeling. It is this wonderful vibrant energy that flows within connecting me to the Source and to his divine abundance (the ocean, the trees, the birds, and life itself) of unlimited beauty.

It feels like a natural state of being; expressing true fulfillment and peacefulness.

    Randy, thanks for sharing.

  3. Awesome!! Not to throw a grenade in there.. but you never mention a lady on these trips you take... and I'm sorry if I was bopping around the world like you do... I'd find some female companionship to share it with... platonically, pay for it, whatever... I don't make judgments... don't get me wrong... I'm totally cool with some alone time, but I've found it's a lot more fun to share an experience like that with a person that turns you on...

    1. I think it's humorous that you should comment about Randy 'sharing' his experience with a partner. As I read his post I found myself 'envious' (in a good way, of course).

While living in Greece, my greatest pleasures were similar to that which Randy described. There is nothing more fulfilling than the deep indigo tint of the ocean ... dolphins flirting with passengers on passing ships ... catching a glimpse of Zeus from atop of Mount Olympus peeking from inside the billowing clouds. Believe me ... you are NOT alone during these experiences ... it is an amazing connection with your higher self, God and his angels.

      1. Heavenly picture you painted, Venetta.

        And oh, so true. 🙂

    2. I'm sure RG shared the experience with everyone else in the restaurant plus others along the waterfront...as well as his spiritual connections.
What about the 'transmutation' of the social/physical experience into the energy that serves higher purposes?
What a magical day RG. Thank God there are people who have these experiences and willingly share them with others so we know its possible for us too.
      Thank you.

  4. It sure did sound like a wonderful day. The world is a beautiful place when you take the time to look and enjoy it. Thanks for sharing.

I had a great day cooking two new recipes - I got totally absorbed in the process. I don't normally enjoy cooking so it was a great experience. My belly is full and my kitchen is clean so I'm feeling very content.

  5. Spending alone time to one's self is a high form of service. Get our opportunity tomorrow as, we in the Southland, are expected to get snowed and iced in. Went to the grocery store a 6am to pick up coffee (the essential food for me!!!) and amazed, how much the store had already been emptied out. I trust people are not living in fear, but they are taking the time for another celebration. I know we are. Slumber party, big breakfast, fireplace and movies all day!! Big Kids (40 +) playing like little kids!! I LOVE L*I*F*E!!! And so it is!!!

  6. Sounds like an amazing day, for sure! But I am wondering about the football field-sized suite, what's up with that? I really DO hope you are with some other people. At least one, anyway. Or a pet of some kind. Seems like you'd be kind of lonely in such a big space. 😉

I really do get the prosperity thing. You are really blessed and better than that, you appreciate it.
    Thanks for sharing.

  7. I read a study yesterday that related to awareness. The study interviewed and observed people in every day life. What they concluded was that 50% of the people did not see a clown dressed up in an orange outfit, that was set up as part of the experiment. Most people were totally focused on their hand held devices, totally oblivious to what was going on around them. Amazing. I thought of this the moment I read Randy's blog. I think we have become so disconnected that we are missing the true juice of life. I am glad Randy shared his experience to remind us of how energizing reconnecting with the earth can be. I never met a video or email that could ever compete with a tropical sunset, or the awe of lightning. We have the greatest high all around us, whether it be a brief connection from a strangers smile or a warm wind that entices our senses. Thanks for sharing this Randy. I'm inspired to go for a walk on the beach at Watch Hill today after church and just take in the view. If you are ever in Rhode Island, be sure to visit the Ocean House. Amazing place with panoramic views of the ocean at watch hill. Have a great day everyone.

  8. These are my favorite kind of posts - talking about the *feeling* of prosperity. I miss your rants that used to be in the same vein.

It's interesting that it seems like a higher proportion of women are commenting on this post than usual.

  9. Thank you for sharing Randy. It sounded like the perfect day! It's a beautiful thing when you take time to enjoy the abundance we've been blessed with by our Creator.
    Love & Light,

  10. When you like, understand and enjoy being here, no matter what happens around you, then you can release physical reality in balanced awareness.

You can even bleep back anytime you want. You just manifest some kind of body. You can do everything.

Not only is there so much more to physical reality than what we have yet allowed ourselves to experience outside the control system, but even beyond that it appears like a dot in existence.

It is not all peace, love and light here. God is everything and people need their experiences. Just know that you create everything yourself, because like God you are also everything, positive and negative. So create something you like better, all the time!

    Expand yourself.

The baseline victim mentality of humankind is being released.

When enough people wake up from their sleep to realize they are here to feel their own strength and power in conjunction with Oversoul and God-Mind, there is a new world coming.

  11. (Smile)...

Almost felt there with you for a moment. Could breathe it in because of the joy in your writing.

You know, I’ve taken trips with partners and trips alone. Both to beautiful, magical places. And what I’ve found is that the emotional and spiritual gifts I get to take away from the experience have less to do with my company and so much more to do with the openness of not only my eyes, but my heart.

I have spent 10 days without a travel companion on a tiny, lush tropical Caribbean island where I was in pure bliss and communion with everything and everybody (after slowing down long enough to let myself relax). That trip transformed me internally.

Conversely, I’ve also spent a week with a partner on a warm, friendly island (ironically Maui, which I know is every bit as beautiful as Randy described it to be) and met with only countless challenges, struggles and disappointments that left me wanting to return home before the trip was over.

The message in all that for me? Wherever you go, there you are. The state of your ‘being’ in any moment determines your capacity to recognize and drink in the gifts of God.

It is pure magic that happens when you are able to just settle into such a state of awe and appreciation that the joy you feel in your heart seems to be reflected back to you in every animal, plant, person and creation of God and nature that you turn your attention toward. It causes you to all at once, have a deep understanding of your place in the Universe – to embrace not only your own significance, but the significance of All.

Your own moments of ‘Heaven’. Best souvenir you could take home. 🙂

Thanks for sharing with us a little taste.

  12. I love the thought of you looking at clown fish.

Sean did have a good point yesterday. People do come here for positivity, and this post was positively beautiful.

  13. It is what it is.

Looking at all the comments about why you were alone, stirred up something in me. I love my alone time, I love the quietness, I love the peace both within and with out.

Why do we feel the need that we have to have someone or something around us all the time? It's only when we are uncomfortable with our own silence is when we surround ourselves with distractions, people or pets.

  14. Very important to catch these moments when there
are no future , no past , no needs , no results , in fact - nothing at all.

The apperance of emptiness and no meaning .

    That´s freedom. That´s free-from ...

    Thanx ...

  15. For a few moments I felt Iwas there...in Maui, in a full freedom and relaxation ... Thank you for these "a few moments", Randy.

  16. Randy,

Thank you for sharing, brother. This totally put me in peace and gave a gentle reminder where we need to be from time to time.

  17. Randy,

Thanks for sharing that experience. You reminded me of my time in St. Lucia. I felt at peace just hearing you describe it, must of been so amazing. I'm so happy for you, wishing you many more days like that.

  18. That sounds divine! I wonder Randy, have you ever tried Watsu? It's a treatment where you are stretched and massaged as you float in water? I haven't, but I"ve heard it's one of the most deeply relaxing experiences you could ever have.
