Forget the Tombstone

Posted By: Randy GageApril 2, 2013

As you get older, you begin to care more about your legacy.  If you’re on the path to enlightenment, your focus probably evolves from pursuing success to significance.

People want to be remembered for something, knowing that the world was a better place, because they lived in it.  But why wait for the tombstone?

You can change the world today, simply by changing yourself today.  Simply decide to be amazing now.

  1. Do you think it's possible to be too ambitious RG? Sincerely, I have set so many "high intentions and goals". Way, way more than an average individual. For me though, it's "divine order".. it's "evolving"!  I love it!

  2. Randy_Gage Yeah, I'd rather go for "greatness and succeed, or even fail, than never even visualize ambitions for greatness and wallow in comfortable mediocrity". Exactly!

  3. Hi RG,
The most comforting idea I embrace - at least for a few moments each day - is that time is an illusion. So I stop thinking about the tombstone, focusing all of my creative energies on the Now. This is why I comment how I comment. I intend to make an unforgettable impact wherever I show up, because only Now exists, and if you make some serious impacts Now, I am finding more each day that the Universe opens some pretty neat doors for you.
On a side note, once we realize our true Power, by surrendering, the idea of ambition almost fades away entirely. It becomes more about being God in disguise while performing the function you were assigned when the Universe decided to rent out your body for a bit.
Thanks for sharing your insight RG.

  5. I'm only 31 and I already think about this.
We're not sure how much time we've got.
We must Move the World while we are here.

  6. I will always remember what Randy Pausch once said, "The brick walls are not there to keep us out; the brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something."  The dictionary would define Legacy as a gift, that is handed down or conveyed from one person to another. It is something descendible one comes into possession of that is transmitted or received from a predecessor. It is to cause or allow something originating from an ancestral source to spread between people or provide something freely and naturally.  People can be hero's in life and in death as I wrote http://www.canadianlegacybuilder.ca/kovach_hero_life_death

  7. LeneJytteHansen Randy, that is THE most amazing compliment I've ever seen written about any great person! WOW, good for you man.  I celebrate your abundance and your virtue! You're a KING!

  8. That is some wonderful advice. There really isn't a point in waiting to leave a legacy. If you can build it now when you are alive, you will be able to put whatever you want on your tombstone. And if you live your life well enough, you may be able to afford a pretty large tombstone. http://www.genesisgranite.com
