Feeding Your Genius

Posted By: Randy GageDecember 3, 2009

We’ve been talking a lot in the last few posts about genius – and how you bring out the inherent genius in you.  But we haven’t talked about the most important part...

Associating with other genius.

Nothing is so inspiring than watching genius in action!  It just fires you up and makes you hungry to see and become more.  It brings out the genius you have inside.

So how much time do you spend around amazing people, versus the time you are forced to interact with the herd?  It’s worth some serious thought.

Another important element to genius is nurturing it.  Always feeding it, so it grows stronger.

Rafael Nadal nourishes his genius with hours of practice on the court.  Lang Lang grows his by practicing on the keyboard.  Writers write.  Painters paint.  Sculptors sculpt.

So what are you doing?

  1. Excellent advice that can't be repeated enough.

If you want to succeed, study those who have already succeeded and do what they do. That's why I make a point to study the world's top athletes and coaches. Seeing how they handle pressure and overcome adversity in such a competitive environment has served me very well.

  2. Thanks Randy. This is the track that I am on. As stated before, I have started once again from zero. Thankfully, this time I am living in the energetic City of Chattanooga, TN. I am surrounded by those that believe in genius. I have several groups that I meet with on a weekly basis to grow my genius as well as their's. Not only do we support each other, we also put our genius into action. Randy since becoming a part of your community, I have started two web sites with the latest being an on-line Business Journal for Chattanooga. Thanks for your ideas, they have caused me to catch fire again and begin my journey back to wealth and prosperity.

  3. Randy, I'm not sure what my genius is... how do you find your genius? I know i have one. I've always felt I was going to be something special, but I've not found what I'm feeling truly passionate about.

  4. I'm consistently pumping out valuable content, reading blogs & sites that pertain to my key interests, and engaging and interacting with other like minded people. Side note: It amazes me all the people who stop learning. Life IS learning. When you stop learning, you die...

  5. I watch a lot of Bond flicks! Ok, seriously. Read, Run, Write. I dont just 'blast through' books. I try to really take the time to calm my mind and absorb one amazing book per week. I study my mentors (like yourself) and try to live from true choice and maintain a prosperity consciousness. I keep a journal (thanks to JB) which I believe is critical. I would say the most critical part of my growth in the last 2 years was to make some serious choices about the people I associated with, identify toxic relationships and remove them and learn to remove people who did not SUPPORT my genius.

They say 'everyone wants you to be successful, just as long as you are not more successful than they are' - And this is only Partially true. The former can be said of some of my past relationships and friendships. The funny thing is, when I learned to identify this...and remove those people, I quickly manifested friends like yourself who are more successful than myself and want me to achieve at the highest levels in all aspects in life.

And you know what...it's funny. Because I have found very happy and successful people, who are into Exotic cars and poker and fitness but also share my burning desire for success and prosperity. So I maintained all of the aspects of genuine friendships and dumped all of the toxic idiots from my circle.

So I would say the key to unleashing my genius was surrounding myself with other Genius. I am forever grateful for you Randy -TS

  6. I have worked with someone that is considered a genius. That person can be summarized by :self discipline, hard work, focus ,no compromise on quality and paying the price

  7. I twitter & post on this blog! Seriously: I also read, workout, eat healthy, journal and spend some time with family & friends.
I recently moved and I am meeting new people by getting out & doing things I enjoy. I have also met people on twitter and facebook that are amazing people.
Reading books and listening or watching to self development are also ways to be around amazing people.

  8. My genius, my talent was having those around me get what they wanted. I didn't do anything personally but have a knack for identifying in others what and where they were sabotaging themselves and how and what they had to do to stop it.

I quit 'practicing' and learned how to have what I wanted show up which is the 'acceptable' method for jobs and many relationships...

It is much more fun for me to see others getting what they want. It also gives me more of what I really want. Network marketing IS the place to again practice my genius. Expand it and share what and how to see in others theirs. Associating with those who have the same dream of a future that works for all of us is an absolute must. Prospecting for dreams to come true is more fun than anyone should be allowed.

Thank you Randy for being the space for greatness to appear.

  9. It's funny when your working that your co-workers are the herd- it's so hard to remember to stay out of that thinking and rise above to remember your genius.
I need constant reminders around me.

    Thanks, Randy

  10. I saw several people talking about the herd mentality as if they were different and maybe they are. What I see so often is people who think they are intelligent and smarter than others making really dumb mistakes and just putting themselves up by calling others dumb. They are so infatuated with themselves and their own ideas they can not learn new things. Yes they read but only what feeds their own preconceived ideas. Or to disprove what someone else says. True genius and wisdom does not work that way. Every body seems to think they are the smart one and someone else is stupid. Remember the story about the guy driving by the nut farm that lost a tire. There is a guy by the fence watching the guy who does not seem to know what to do. The guy inside the fence says why don't you take one nut off the other tires and put them on that tire and you can then drive to the garage. The driver of the car says hey that's pretty smart why are you in there. The other guy says I'm just crazy not stupid.

  11. I sing everyday, write notes to myself about album ideas, talented people to tap into and dream about entertainment ideas to use in future concerts.
