Facing Change

Posted By: Randy GageJanuary 15, 2013

Last post I gave you my predictions of the Top 7 Most Disruptive Trends to Get in front of in 2013.  Fortunes will be made by the people and entrepreneurs that do this.  But most won’t…

Why?

Because it involves change.  And man do we hate change!  So many people have a hard time embracing it and many more are petrified by change.  Cause it takes them out of their safe routines and comfortable comfort zones.

But think about this:

When is the last time you had a breakthrough by keeping things the way they were?

  1. This is exactly the thematic element of the project we're developing entitled "Changing Keys".. Far too many people are almost robotic to the point where they believe that all there is to life is a paycheck, mortgage, kids and the annual vacation. And I'm willing to bet that all of them have 'wondered' about living a different life doing what they love.. Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone. Thanks Randy.. great stuff!

  3. I personally welcome changes. Stress, failure or even pain are great teachers. With changes we're getting out of our comfort zone and are pushed to act, do things differently. If we don't... Acting  today the same way we did it yesterday and expect different results, is irrational. If we want to create a different life, change our career,or relationship or... we have to act differently. But first start with setting up new goals, then plan, then action should follow. Changes are challenges, stress, redirection, revolution that create (if welcome and not fled from) critical way of thinking, push us to explore new ways, resources to achieve new goals, higher results, personal growth, and in the end-success.

  5. I just had a major breakthrough recently. I'd been petrified of quitting my job to do contracting. I finally did it, with some help from the universe that had decided that I was 'overqualified' for having a job. Two weeks in I'm turning down work. I'm making more money, I have more control over my time and the people that I choose to work with. It turns out that I had absolutely nothing to fear. The changes feels AWESOME!

  7. Gandhi once said:
“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. … We need not wait to see what others do.”
This almost makes it a shame that we a humans are creatures of habit that seek a routine in life that makes us feel comfortable or in cases safe and secure. Unfortunately the majority of the times its nothing more than a FALSE sense of security. Its like living in gated community with no high walls surrounding it.
I have a friend that lives in such a community. With a beautiful entry gate guarded by an UNARMED security guard during the day and a special code for entry at night. However, when you pull up to his townhouse the only thing separating his place from a majors street is a roughly 50 yard wide strip of grass and a 3 foot tall hedge... but its the comfort of it being inexpensive and not wanting to deal with the hassle of moving and all the change that goes with it that he prefers to stay put.
I have come to realize as I follow your (Randy's) blogs, videos, chats, books, Ect... that if prosperity and success were so simple than every one would do it. Mainly because in the beginning success is inconvenient. Inconvenient because of the changes we are required to make in our lives. Changes that the common person is just not willing to make. Even if it does mean prosperity and success...
