Encouragement

Posted By: Randy GageJune 12, 2012

Isn’t it nice when you get some encouragement, and people tell you that you’re doing a great job and on the right track?  It helps to keep you motivated.  And that’s why I post this blog.  To give you some encouragement to stay on the path of personal growth.

But what happens when no one is offering you any encouragement?

That’s when you have to suck it up and encourage yourself!  Sometimes you're going to get it from external sources.  But sometimes you have to manufacture it yourself.

Remember that you’re amazing.  Remember that you are capable of epic things.  Remember that you are just beginning to tap into your incredible potential...

Then just get going again!

  1. ' Your greatest gift to others is your joy and appreciation'--- I surely feel great when appreciated. I would prefer having joyful people around me. So do others I guess.!

  3. Being in an unencouraging environment is almost as challenging as being in a toxic one. You're right, Randy --- whatever else happens, there's nothing stopping me from encouraging myself. A great reminder! Thanks!!

  5. When the courage wears off I wittingly seeking help from the outside. And more often I find out how  I can  do it myself.  And not only keep my inner fire, but also make it bigger and stronger.  Just keep doing it.

  7. I am thinking it is good to be connected to a positive environment with people who are where you want to be... in health, relationships or wealth.
For example for raw foods: .www.thebestdayever.com
    or for relationships: http://love.tonyrobbins.com/
    to get debt free: http://www.daveramsey.com
    to change your self-talk/beliefs: http://www.shadhelmstetter.com/
    or here for prosperity

Tony Robbins teaches that love & connection is one of the 6 human needs... we all have this need... and we all fill it in either a positive or negative way... if you are in pain then you are filling it in a negative way.
Most settle for connection because they fear intimacy/vulnerability in love.
You can change your relationships by focusing on filling your partners needs in a positive ways... instead of just focusing on meeting your needs (often in negative ways... complaining, blaming, arguing, stone-walling, etc... )
I think you can also change your relationship with health or money the same way... focusing on positive ways instead of negative ways to meet your needs... and be connected to people who are on the same path and/or are where you want to be (successful)... because you can go off course (back to your old ways) when you aren't connected. So I think you do need to be connected to positive people and communities. Find your communities & stay connected 🙂

    1. I also heard Tony say that we can get into a "learned helplessness" state... that we don't think we or anyone can change... we are all stuck... we aren't growing...

Get unstuck... learn... change... grow... live.

      1. my first comment was deleted... so here is a different one... this one is about being in communities also:

It is a quote from the book by Brene Brown "I Thought It Was Just Me (but it isn't)"

"Many people mistake contextualizing for a means to shirk our personal responsibilities and "Blame the System" For example,
        * It's not my fault I can't find a job,-- it's because I'm a woman
        * It's not mu fault I can't lose weight-- it's the diet industry
*It's not my fault that I'm in debt-- it's those evil credit card companies."

"I think contextualizing is the opposite of blaming and shirking. When the women I interviewed talked about the importance of getting the big picture, they didn't talk about making excuses. They talked about finding the power to make changes by understanding the big picture and knowing they weren't the only ones struggling:"

        one example:
"During my senior year, my mom made me join a group with other girls wit "trich." At first I was really pissed. I didn't even believe that other girls had it. In this group I found out that several million people have it. It didn't make it go away, but at least I know other people; I'm not a total freak. There was even a girl 3 years younger than me and I was able to help her by telling her how I explained it to my friends"

"note: TRICH is short for trichotillomania- an impulse control disorder that causes people to pull out body hair (skin, head, eyebrows, eyelashes,etc.). It seems to occur most frequently in pre- or early adolescent years."

  14. Encouragement from others is great! But if one rely on that, he/she is going to face some challenge. Some of my clients are lookinf for encouragement outside. This get them tired. More importantly is we can encourage ourselves without relying on the external.
