Dream Big and Dare to Be Different

A lot of you resonated with the affirmation I spoke about in the last post.  Let me share another one with you.

Dream Big and Dare to Be Different

So many people today are doing the opposite.  They’re trying to fit in, act normal, and be accepted by society.  That’s actually a pretty horrific strategy if you want to be healthy, happy and prosperous.

Look around.  Do you think most people are healthy?  What percentage of people do you think are actually happy?  And you know the numbers already on how many are prosperous.  So wanting to fit in and act normal is crazy.  Bat shit crazy.

Recently went to see Bohemian Rhapsody, the Queen biopic.  It’s a sensational movie.  But you know what was my favorite part?  When they were showing all the reviews when the Bohemian Rhapsody record was released.  The music critics trashed the song.  Why?

It was different.

Rolling Stone said it was, “brazen hodgepodge.” Today the song is on the magazine’s list of the greatest songs of all time.  TIME said, “Lyrically, Queen’s songs manage to be pretentious and irrelevant. Musically, for all the virtuosity—though it was cheating a bit to turn over the complex middle portion of their ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ to a taped version, with empty stage and flashing lights—the songs still sound mostly pretty empty, all flash and calculation.” Now it’s on TIME’s own list of the greatest songs since 1923.  We could have tons of fun and go down a rabbit hole, looking back in time at the initial public reaction to everything from Elvis to the Wright Brothers, The Beatles to vaccinations.  But let’s get back to the relation between becoming the highest possible version of yourself versus acting normal or average.

We like to use the word average a lot.  But a more appropriate one is usually mediocre.  For every person seeking greatness, there are hundreds more whose full time job is safeguarding mediocrity.

Please.  Stop trying to fit in.

Be a dreamer.

Be a bold dreamer.

Be a dreamer so bold, that if you ever get charged for the crime of being a dreamer – there’s enough evidence for the jury to convict you.

  1. Damn Randy. This quote really hit home. Thank you. Guess I was ready for this one. I actually felt a surge while reading it. Yeah, I know. Now go do something with it. (-:

  2. My father told me that life begins the moment you stop worrying what other people think about you. He was a very wise soul and I am proof his words are true, at least for me. It's not that I don't care about people. I do. I just don't care what their opinion of me is. I'm not trying to prove anything to them. I just want my life to be authentic. What else is there , really.... Not every one is going to like you and Dad also said that " if everyone likes you then you are not doing very much with your life. Wish he was still here but he's doing much higher work in a much higher place
