Divergent Views

Posted By: Randy GageDecember 1, 2011

Last week I told you about my former advocate who now felt she couldn’t endorse any of my training or materials because she thought I was anti-Christian.  This came after she read my book, Accept Your Abundance.  Not 15 minutes after I replied to her, I went out to the mall nearby my hotel in San Diego.

A young lady approached me in Nordstrom’s and asked if my name was Randy.  When I confirmed that, she got very excited, telling me she recognized me from my books.  She got very emotional and told me she had just finished one of them and it had changed her life.  She was almost crying as she shook my hand.  I asked her which one she had read.

Exactly.

Now how can the same book evoke two such divergent experiences?  In both cases, the book presented a viewpoint of prosperity that was completely different than the reader expected.  In each case, it challenged their beliefs, and expressed a different opinion than they had of the subject before they read the book.

Why is that, and what does it have to do with your success and happiness?

  1. Randy,
As you know often people find what they are looking for or attracting.

If they are looking for evidence to prove the existence of abundance they find it.

If they are looking for proof but deep in their minds they don't want to accept the proof no matter what they read they find mental conflict and they don't accept what they read.

    Makes sense?

    Just my two centimes.

    David

  2. Randy, people filter messages in different ways.I value your views and opinions. You are a Teacher and as such you should be respected.

  3. If everyone liked the same things there would be very few choices in Life. Similarly, the way people respond, or in this case, re-act to what they read, is also different.

I also am of the belief that there is no single, cut and dry method towards transformation. Each one of us will resonate with something a bit differently.

    Ain't it great! (LOL)

  4. What an interesting experience !! ...amazing what the universe will bring sometimes, all in the same day! This sounds like a case of filters and (subconscious) beliefs. With the first lady, you challenged her beliefs. With the second lady, you affirmed them. I think the neat thing is that both help people move forward!
Not everybody's going to agree with what we have to say,
but we speak our Truth anyway!
    Gracias, Randy.

  5. It's all projection. They both read your book and projected their belief systems to what you wrote. There is great quote in "A Course in Miracles" that says don't try to make things right, see them right!
There is a great title of a book that I never read which is "What You Think of me is None of my Business"
Keep doing what your doing Randy! You make a difference.

  6. Feodor Tyutchev has ingenious lines: "To us it is not allowed to foresee, as our word will respond, and sympathy is given to us, as the Good fortune is given to us."

  7. Different values and programing of the subconsious mind. To allow yourself to take in what you write in this book also means you can admit yourself to be wrong, maybe about most of the values you have lived your life by. I actually think you have to be pretty hightoned and consiously in need of change to see the incredible value in that book - I love it, but I must admit it was tough reading sometimes, because it hit a nerve, and reactivated bad things and experiances from my subconsious mind, and for a short timeperiod drag me down. I knew though what was happening, and could drag myself out of it by stating positive statements, sometimes a couple of days in a row.
So I understand both reactions, not meaning agreeing, but see how this can be so. I think you have to be at a point, where you are ready to recieve "the message" and confront. It takes courage. The reactions on your book tells more about these persons, than about your BRILLIANT book.
These 5 book in this serie I have at my bedside and my workplace, they are GOLD to me. A valueable book you can read over and over and every time get something new out of it, because you change and are able to take new viewpoints on the text written. Your books are like that, and very well written. Thank's Randy :))))))))))))))))

  8. Guess it means we are meant to express ourselves authentically knowing that some will benefit from it and others will be turned off and as long as we believe in it we shouldn't worry about it but trust that when we are in touch with our truth, life will guide us to where we need to be for our journey and for those that are meant to benefit/share in it.

  9. Oh Randy, I am not sure what it has to do with my success and happiness. But, this is what I get out of it...

First, I am sorry that lady is not advocating your work anymore. I am sure that was very surprising to you.

Second, I am happy that the other young lady liked your work so much. Especially nice she got to tell you in person.

Third, I got a free massage today from a chiropractor's assistant and I really liked it. That's what I love about the library, you just never know what is going to happen.

Oh, that's not really it, I also tried cinnamon M&M's and I liked those too.

    Just kiddin'.

I interpret the story this way: I think this story says something about critical thinking. I am not sure if either one of them was using their best judgement.

The first lady, I see why she didn't want to support something that was against her values, because maybe she didn't want to look and feel like a hypocrite. Although, if she really thought it through, I think some more moderate action may have made more sense. Like supporting your work,(you Randy) but stating which philosophies of yours she didn't agree with. I mean I don't know. There are other solutions that could have also worked that maybe didn't require her to just stop supporting you.

As for the other lady, she sounds too emotional to have really intellectually considered everything. That does not invalidate her experience at all. It just means that after awhile she will probably realize that you were a catalyst, but she is the one who really made the difficult choices and changed her own life.

So, I guess the lesson for me is think and use temperance in crucial decisions.

  10. "In each case, it challenged their beliefs, and expressed a different opinion than they had of the subject before they read the book.

Why is that, and what does it have to do with your success & happiness?

WHY IS THAT: I'd say: One person is comfy with her beliefs, & doesn't want to change them, dammit; the other person is not comfy, and was DELIGHTED to change her beliefs.

WHAT does that have to do with my S&H? I'd say: I need to be careful about being too comfortable, it can lead to resistance, a closed mind (and thence a closed life. And how boring is that?)
As well: if I'm not-comfy in any area of my life, I probably need to shake up my beliefs in that area - even though I may well be resistant to new and bizarre-o ideas.
    What is that saying:
Be open-minded enough to let new ideas in, but not so open-minded that your brains fall out. LOL!
I think that a closed mind leads to mental suffocation. Yetch!

    lovingly submitted, Mrs. H&P

  11. My dear Randy:

One of the problems with human beings is that for some of them their beliefs are more important than their reality, even if it doesn't work for them. People prefer to stay in line and be accepted than being authentic, risk takers and stand to be autonomous in their choices.

The problem with beliefs is that they create a false sense of comfort and people go into automatic and then defend their existence and that's when scarcity arises. As Charles Fillmore once said: "Being poor is a sin"!

Blessings and thank you for the wisdom Randy

    Jorge

    1. "One of the problems with human beings is that for some of them their beliefs are more important than their reality, even if it doesn’t work for them." Very sad, but very true in many cases. That's what motivates me to do the work I do.

  12. Hm, can I say something about religious and other beliefs/attitude here? If it's a problem just delete this comment, since it's not really an answer to your question (or is it?).

I come from a family with different religious views, so to say. And I know one thing for sure: If you can't accept that someone has different religious beliefs or is not religious at all, then YOU do not accept GOD (no matter what name you chose to call Him). It's that easy. All religions come to one God. He himself gave people options to choose the way towards Him. The problems do not arise from religions. They come from the WAY the religion is often used, and this is called free will. You are free to choose the religion (if you wish). And you choose whether to use it in a peaceful and respectful or in a hateful way. When someone blames and disrespects other people just because they are not christians/muslims/etc, he or she just blames and disrespect the Creator. Try to see the difference between the will of Him, who gave people dfferent ways (religions in this case) to be connected to Him and the will of people who make bad choices within each religion (each way).

    1. And just becuase someone's books are "non-Christian" it doesn't mean they are not full of spirit and love. "Non-Christian" is NOT equal to "bad"? it's just "different".

  13. I wish you had a like/ love button for the comments. Some of them are really awesome! :)))

Lesson for me on prosperity & success from your story:

Be the master of your thoughts, not be mastered by them.

Beliefs and truth are not the same thing - and when you are unwilling to put your own beliefs to the test, growth will elude you and so will true prosperity, joy & happiness.

  14. It doesn't mean you're anti if you don't agree. Religions serve their purpose, for good and bad.

But take a look at the abundance and prosperity of your church and decide if they really think they should be living in poverty.

  15. In the Christian woman's experience, your material didn't fit into her view of the world and she decided to keep her existing view. In the Nordstrom woman's experience, your material busted her viewpoint on her view of the world and she replaced it with a new one. Whether we take on a new viewpoint has to do with how open we are to other ideas, how well our life is working now and whether the person offering the viewpoint has credibility on the subject at hand.

  16. well!!! i have to say, Randy you are a genius! im learning the Power Prosperity Program an so far, I have been challenged by my own beliefs, and I really understand this religion thing, because I was raised by a Christian family, and to understand the level at which I mean, my dad is the preacher!!!! ok! for real, and when I hear you talk about religion and such thats things comes to my head the word DEVIL! hahaha and actually I recognize these things, which makes me to laugh at the stupidity of the association that I have certain things! and I really have started to apply critical thinking in all things I believe. ALL THINGS!!!!

and you know what, I've always known that I have something special in me, and I looked in books, people, the Bible, and I've tried everything but without any result. I think I find what I was looking for!!!.

Randy Please, keep doing what you're doing, and make a few find their way to the light!!!!!

    THANKS A LOT!!!! MAESTRO RANDY!!!!

PS: I have 21, and I live with my dad(the preacher), so, when He sees my dream board, just tell they are very nice pictures! hahaha = D

  17. Randy:
Sometimes it happens when people fall under the influence of a quite controlling pastor, they get very defensive about their newfound narrow definition and when anything "intrudes" it is "UnChristian" - recently I mentioned yoga to such a person, and he just about flipped out with the silver cross for werewolves mechanism - "Oh no! None of that for me! Never mention that.!" That otherwise seemingly intelligent people who fall under such spells (LOL) is well-night unbelievable. But there you have it... It's a wonderful world. It is our happy duty to prosper.
Thanks for being your responsive self. I am impressed.
