Define Your Dash

Posted By: Randy GageNovember 6, 2019

One of the chestnuts in the self-development space is your “dash.”  Meaning the dash engraved on your tombstone between the day you were born and the day you die.  The concept speaks to what you do with that dash.  If you were on your deathbed and someone asked you what you remember best about your life, I have a hunch it would not be…

  • The time you totally “owned” the other person in your Hillary vs. Trump debate;
  • Your Instagram post that got more likes than any other one you ever posted, because you had the lighting and filters just right;
  • That snappy clapback you had that went viral on Twitter; or,
  • The Fortnite or Minecraft battles you won.

No matter how long you live, there is one thing you can never be certain of: living another day. Make this one count.

Peace,

- RG

  1. Thanks for the message. Simple but powerful as always.
    P.S. But Grammar Nazi in me is stil crying "It's not Fortnight but Fortnite" 🙂 Wish you all guys a nice day

      1. Forgot to thank you for an article called "The books that molded my life". Thanks to it, I've read "Atlas Shrugged", "The Fountainhead", "On the Road" and "As a Man Thinketh" (reading all of them was magnificent) and now reading "Moby-Dick".
        P.S. Need to correct my own mistakes - it's not "stil" but "still" and it's not "Grammar Nazi" but "grammar Nazi". Peace

  2. This is deja vu, Randy! This morning I listened to Tony Alessandra speaking on "The Optimist Advantage", speaking about this very topic and I thought to myself: "Peter, write about "the dash" for tomorrow's blogpost!

    Great topic Randy!
