Building Happiness & Prosperity with Your Thoughts

Posted By: Randy GageMay 18, 2009

Ralph Waldo Emerson said that life consists of what a man is thinking all day.  A pretty simple yet pretty profound thought wouldn’t you agree?   Of course James Allen tells us that we are made by the thoughts we give precedence to.

So that stands to reason that good thoughts create a good life.  What a concept.

Now we all have unwanted thoughts pop into our head from time to time.  But we also have the continuous opportunity to determine what our next thoughts will be.  And the more attention we give this process, the stronger effect we have on the outcome of our life.  Aint it great!

  1. -RG,
To build on what you wrote Emerson also said,

"Nothing at last is sacred but the integrity of your own mind." - Ralph Waldo Emerson, from Self-Reliance

Therefore we must stay vigilant as to our daily thoughts.

  2. And Napolean Hill said: "What the mind can conceive and believe he can achieve." It is amazing to think that alot of the things we use on a daily basis, and take for granted, haven't been around all that long. Great strides have been made in alot of areas within the past 10, 5 or even just last year and it keeps getting better and better. Look at computer technology. I have am Ipod
shuffle, the size of a postage stamp with 2 gigs of storage which is 1000 times more capacity then my first PC. And don't get me started on the IPhone. I have great expectations for the 3.0
software due out this summer. And all this "stuff" started out as just an idea.

    Create A Great Day

  3. I agree, We are our thoughts, the ones we immerse ourselves. "Any life, no matter how long and complex it may be, is made up of a single moment - the moment in which a man finds out, once and for all, who he is." -Jorge Luis Borges Until then you are your excuses.

  4. If you deliberately nourish your mind with healthy material; listen, see, read positive things, your mind will be, to a good measure, be filled with good thoughts all day.
Be a fan of breaking news and lead a miserable life.

  5. What do with pain you feel about current and past events and circumstances? How express them in a healthy way and nevertheless go on a way to prosperity and give precedence to positive thoughts? And then, how cope with feelings like isolation, unworthiness etc that are subjective but deep convictions on a subconscious level? - from Germany

  6. From Mexico, Malinaclo: Yes.. an it is related with fears, may be fears are only bad thoughts,.. what about sadness? whta about the relationships among emotions, and spirit state? mind body sprit are issues that are related, awearness is necesary..silence, ande reflexion...may be the we can hace a thosght and a feeling of hapiness and postive state

  7. Yes, the power of choice and awareness is great indeed! However, just as positive thoughts can build upon each other and result in a great mood, negative thoughts can spiral in similar fashion and leave us depressed. The latter is unfortunately the more likely outcome which is why it's so important for us to be aware of our thoughts and have a positive perspective.

  8. When you learn to drive, ( or for that matter run or ride a bike )- where do they tell you to look ? To the HORIZON and in the direction you are going. You always want to look at that direction, not down on the ground, ( you will eventually fall over) to the side of the road or where you have been - because you will automatically turn in the direction you are looking and, at best go out of your way - at worse... fall or crash into something!! The body works like that - it follows where you are LOOKING. It works in the physical world as well as in your thoughts.

  9. The issue is, what determines a "good" thought?

I lately think that a "good" thought is one that I feel WORKS FOR ME, depending on who I want to be at the moment. I now prefer to look to MYSELF for that judgment, as opposed to spiritual leaders or religious teachings, which are traditionally the source for judgment.

I believe that "Love" is good, but for some people, that means only love between a Man and a Woman is good. They might think that "Love" between the same sexes is "bad". That definition of love doesn't work for who I want to be, because I believe in freedom too.

So, based on what I think works for MY life, I prefer to choose thoughts that aren't necessarily "good" or "bad", just thoughts that "work" for who I'm trying to be.

    Anyone?

  10. I think it is a limiting belief that only love between man and women is good. Spiritual "leaders" who want to cut your freedom of choice of what is good for you haven't understood much. So if it does you well to live another form of love, I think that's good for you and thoughts which support that are positive ones.

  11. Thanks for pointing out the power of Thoughts Randy.
I recently came across this quote -

"Focus on what you can control, not on what you cannot."

It sounds simple enough but works for me to reorient my thoughts, whenever I start feeling down. Have put together some more ideas in my website http://www.confidencesimplified.com

  12. My life has changed from reading self development, network marketing, get rich, and prosperity books. This was a start for changing what I thought about. I never put it all together until I read Randy's prosperity series. Looking back, I asked for almost everything I have because of what I thought about. From things I did not want(which is not cool) to things that I really do and did want.

An example, I use to drive a Ford Exploder, I mean Explorer. I put a small Hummer 2 toy on the dash in that vehicle and I would always think about the H2. Well, today I am driving that H2. I also spent a lot of time thinking about living in another city, well, I am actually living there now. After reading Randy's books the past month and a half I have noticed a lot of things changing. Most of my recent goals are big, and doing what I do now as a personal trainer are not going to support those big dreams, but through reading Randy's books on prosperity, I have new ideas on things that I can do to make those big dreams reality by seeing them in my mind and starting to become what I need to be. I will keep you all posted and I thank Randy for the value his books have brought and will continue to bring int my life! Think about what you want, be what you want to be, and make a goal/dream board. This will keep more positive thoughts running through your head.

  13. This is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I get upset/amgry and it stays with me all day, sometimes two. I tell myself let it go then it's right back. So, how do I control my thoughts?

  14. Being human allows us to reason and control our thought processes, to act, react, or let it be -- it is what separates us from the beast. On a deep inner level it reminds me of a quote by Stephen Cove, "We are limited but we can push back the borders of our limitations”. How true it is.

  15. I came across these lines recently-"Focus on what you can control, rather than what you cant".
To be happy, one has to let go of Worry. Worry has the ability to turn up all possible outcomes. This makes people think that Worry is smarter than them. However you can replace worry with thoughts about how everything's going to be okay.

  16. As a "spriritual leader" I must take a stance here... you are so quick to tell us - never judge... yet, you are judging us for our own beliefs.

If you believe homosexuality is OK or even good, then you expect me to accept that... yet, when I state that is not OK, then I am wrong??? Wow. And you call us close minded?

Do I have freinds and/or fmaily that are homosexual? Yes and Yes. I can hold a belief that they are wrong in a spiritual sense, and still hol dgood thoughts about them... looking for the positive within.

    Just a thought.

  17. I was once told that 98% of what we worry about never happens.. so spend about 2 minutes each day worrying intently and then forget about what you just worried about go out and have a great day...It works but it takes work to forget...

  18. Everyone's life is under someone's control - it might as well be under your own so that you can direct your destiny. - Harry Tucker

We can only do that with the way we think and controlling what we think about.

  19. it sounds like you would benefit from some one-to-one work with a coach, and I am not one !
I have these kind of encounters everyday in my medical practice in London UK. There is HOPE.
there are solutions, it's something you need to learn, ...and perhaps unlearn some of your "old" ways of thinking in the process.
maybe you could start by reading some of Randy's recommended readings, then start implementing the advices in them, and if needed get the help of a professional to make those new habits work for you.
Keep up and continue following Randy.
I am also on twitter, as domdock.
