Becoming Prosperity

Posted By: Randy GageJuly 14, 2011

Let’s dig a little deeper into the subject of our last two posts on acceptance and living by universal law.  Because as Ian pointed out, we can’t always control external things.  And we can’t shape people to our liking.  We have to accept both people and circumstances as they are.

What we have total control over is the internal things…

We get to choose our desires, passions and thoughts.  We shape our liking to other people.  And we mold the inner world of our mind and reconcile it to the external things.  Or as my friend W Mitchell so eloquently says, It’s not what happens to you, it’s how you choose to respond to it.

Nowhere was this more apparent to me than when I was visiting Japan two weeks ago.  Earthquakes by the dozens, a horrific tsunami, and more than 20,000 perished.  Nuclear reactors melting down, radiation in the air, and contaminating the food supply.  Tens of thousands still displaced and in shelters.   It may be decades before people can return to some of those areas.

Yet the shibumi, tranquility, and dignity they choose to respond to it all was inspiring.  (It actually led me to record the next Prosperity TV from there, on this very subject.)  There are a lot of prosperity lessons for us in all this.

You can’t avoid the turbulence of the world, but you can overcome the riots of mind.   The duties, obligations and challenges of life may claim your attention, however you can rise above the apprehensions and anxieties of them.  You can be surrounded by noise, yet know abiding peace.

That’s the real work of prosperity.  It’s not about earning money, finishing projects, or acquiring things.  It’s about rising above the turmoil and becoming your true nature – becoming prosperity.

You up for that?

  1. Randy, that is an excellent post. It is very true if people would realize they choice how they allow circumstances to affect them the world would be much more peaceful.

  2. Many years ago when I started on the Path to personal growth, a very wise leader said, "How you view your world is how it will show up". And this is connected to what you say here in that the way or thoughts we have in response to the outer world will dictate our feelings and thoughts.

After reading "The Science of Getting Rich" the first time years ago, I immediately stopped reading the newspaper, watching the news, etc. knowing that all the negative programming was impacting 'how I view life'. As a result, I'm now able to stop when something occurs in the outer world and ask myself, "How to I choose to respond" rather than the knee jerk response.

Thanks Randy. As always good tools to work with!

  3. Bob Proctor did a webinar a coupla weeks ago and someone asked, how can I do my biz with economy the way it is, the debt crisis, etc.. and Proctor replied, what does that have to do with your business? Don't even think about that stuff...

  4. Here is some food for thought, another aspect of prosperity that I learned was essential in my personal growth was The After Life.

As I continue to develop in the now, I have been made aware of the importance the role of being a prosperous co creator plays not only in the here and now, but in the there and after.

Prosperity, is but another lesson we under take here as we journey to being fully actualize souls, your mission, Randy, as a teacher has such an impact that perhaps you yourself may under estimate it.

    With Gratitude:)

  5. I think that perhaps the greatest gift of all that comes from shifting into a prosperous mindset is the underlying sense of peace and 'knowing' that no matter what may happen outside of you - YOU will always be alright ... you will have what you need in any moment and ultimately be taken care of by the wise and loving hand of God.

No matter how much material wealth one acquires, it obviously doesn't insure against external challenges and hurdles showing up in our lives - but when they do, it we who get to choose whether we will respond from a place of Faith (Prosperity)or whether we will spiral into a place of Fear (Lack).

Since the Universe is such an amazing teacher, what a great lesson we can all learn from the grace that the Japanese people have exhibited in responding to their recent events. I believe there is always a higher purpose to every situation that appears catastrophic, and as we become more enlightened, we begin to be able to recognize this, even in the very moments we face adversity.

  6. A powerful post, reminder, and challenge - ultimately re-focusing us on who and what we're becoming as we navigate this adventure of life - thanks, Randy!

  7. Hi RG,

The people in Japan inspired me, too. Many of their homes were wiped out entirely, yet they quietly accepted it, and proceeded to rebuild their lives.

Meanwhile, a large part of the world bitches and moans about government, politics and other types of events you see on the toxic news.

Many live ENTIRELY in the outside world. When their outside world is changed - even a little bit - their inside world goes chaotic. Mental turmoil. Forget about a wide scale event; it would make these people pretty much give up.

I read somewhere a wise man's take on how Buddha would have responded to the Boxer Day Tsunami in 2004. The person felt Buddha would have experienced heartfelt compassion for victims and all those affected by the tsunami, in one moment. In the next moment, Buddha would have seen the greater tragedy, the fact that so many people thought that this couldn't, shouldn't or would never happen. Our non-acceptance is a great tragedy, and a root cause of unhappiness.

When you can accept what is, your Universe changes dramatically. Much suffering is causes by resistance of what is, of trying to mold the outside world by mental coercion, which is lunacy.

When something happens - no matter what that something is - and you can accept it without resisting, you are on to something. You are beginning to realize the statement: "As within, so without."

Thanks for sharing your insight RG.

  8. Yes, you´re definitely one of those few people on earth one can add to the quote >bring me men to match my mountains<. Very good posting! I very much like the plan to step onto Japans land and give them and us another mental hand. You´re excellent in what you do!

  9. Hi Randy,

thanks for sharing this. I like especially this sentence:"You can’t avoid the turbulence of the world, but you can overcome the riots of mind."

Most people aren't aware that the outer world and the inner world can be two different things. Of course, our outer world is a reflection of our inner world, but incidents in the outer world don't have to influence our inner world.

    Take care

  10. Who are the Shibumi? I just went through Joplin, MO the other day. The devestation their was enormous. There were so many volunteers and so many here in my city willing to help out in Joplin. I am very proud of Missourians too. I think the aftermath of that tornado was also handled with dignity and courage. Everyday new stories emerge of the bravery of those citizens and not just the adults, but also the children.

Children's Mercy hopital has child victims from that tornado and they are doing so much for those children and their families. Everywhere in the world the human spitit is so courageous in the face of disaster and tragedy.

I believe we are all, all over the world overflowing and prosperous in our humanity. In spite of all the ugliness and natural disasters we face the spirit of oneness always exists in some way.

  11. Randy,
So much power and simplicity packed in this wonderful post. The line "You can't avoid the turbulence of the world, but can overcome the riots of the mind" hit home for me. Thank you for this great post and I look forward to the Prosperity TV

  12. Randy,

I wholeheartedly agree with your points. I love your last two sentences, "That's the real work of prosperity. It's not about earning money, finishing projects, or acquiring things. It's about rising above the turmoil and becoming your true nature " becoming prosperity."
It is absolutely how you react to and rise above any situation. Thank you for sharing your valuable points.
