Are You Working to Be Broke?

Posted By: Randy GageNovember 3, 2009

When I was in Russia last week, someone commented on how fortunate I am to live in the United States, with all of the economic opportunities there.  I agreed and told her that you really had to work hard to stay broke in the U.S.

Think about that a minute...

Do you realize just HOW HARD you have to work to stay poor in the U.S., United Kingdom, Australia, Spain, and so many other countries?  I mean to stay broke, you have to walk by at least three or four great opportunities a week!  And of course the really interesting thing is that in places like Russia, there are even better opportunities to create wealth!

The amount of money in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and the other emerging republics there and elsewhere in the world is almost mind-boggling.  Wherever there is financial hardship, there is a corresponding opportunity for prosperity.  To stay poor in today’s world takes a lot of effort.

Now if you’re still poor, how does that make you feel?

Do you think I’m being insensitive, uncaring, and forgot where I came from?  Do you believe I’m not taking into account your special circumstances that have prevented you from becoming wealthy?

See what I mean?  Look at how hard you just stretched to justify staying broke!  Give that some serious thought.  And next post I’ll share some of the specific ways people work to stay broke.

  1. It's amazing what we can talk and second-guess ourselves out of! And then we start listening to the naysay of other (well-intentioned) people, and...we've gotten absolutely nowhere!

Pure silliness. Great opportunities are everywhere, but they remain opportunities until YOU make them Real.

    Have a great day, everyone!

  2. Randy! How shocking and how true! Last week in Russia, I had a chance to attend those 2 days event and listen and watch you from the stage and even had a chance to talk to you 🙂 We've made 5 000 km from Almaty and do you know that few hours listening and watching you WORTH IT! It's worth to hear one day your ideas like in this post and it can be a turning point for many people...Thanks, I'm reading your posts daily and translate it into russian on our weekly team meetings and HEARTLY THANKFUL to you for sharing with us "uncovered truth".

  3. Absolutely Randy. People mistake their current situation for the future. They are too busy worrying and focusing on the wrong thing.

We all have different kinds of problems. The key is to focus on your goals and stop using excuses to justify why you are not where you want to be in life.

Most people just keep thinking in their minds over and over. I don't have money, i am in debt, etc... So the key is to control those thoughts, and direct them towards what you want to accomplish.

We just left the industrial age, where man power was everything. I believe in the information age, mind power is everything. Control your thoughts, and you will win.

  4. Ha! That is true! We have even better opportunities in our countries because there are a lot of unraised fields, which are only started to grow! You only have to be smart and choose the right way. There are a lot of people with a low amount of money, which will with pleasure support you and your business, and with pleasure will have their own, because, they much stronger desire all that goods, that you have in U.S, but almost people hadn't there. So, if you have a great idea, you only have to believe that it would be successful, and you will find that people who you are looking for!

    Thank you, for the topic!

  5. Hi Randy

I understand there are opportunities everywhere, and I know I`m missing them but how do I get to a position where I can see them and take advantage?

  6. I get you - conceptually. Now, please hurry with the next part so I can identify with what may actually be blocking me.

Love these posts, Randy. Thank you.

  7. SUCH an important thought. For years I blamed my circumstances for my financial realities. Still do sometimes. It's so vital to take charge of your mind.

    Great post.

  8. Sometimes (like this time) I chuckle like a complete nutter when I read your posts. Very true.. but then it's all relevant isn't it?

My daughter's idea of not having what she wants is not having the latest ipod.. We are very fortunate even if we are not yet quite as RICH as you! Am working on it... 🙂

  9. Ok, I can accept that there are ways I keep myself from being a billionaire. I even SEE it sometimes, which makes it frustrating as hell.

I've heard that for some of us, it's all around us, yet we can't see it- like being fish and asking "What water?"

But whenever Randy writes these types of messages, they piss me off. Since I know you are struggling with finding a partner, how do you feel about this:

I think a lot of us don't see the opportunities to begin with.

I think a lot of us see the opportunities, but don't necessarily take advantage of them for a myriad of reasons.

Another group of us see them, take action, but then somehow ruin them along the way.

The final group sees them, takes action, and rides them out.

How can the last group be effective in showing the way to the previous ones?
(This applies to EVERYTHING by the way, I'm not just talking money and relationships)

Here's to us all finding what we want!

  10. Hi, Randy!
Our society - next generation very small lot of richmen and
big lot of loosers. I'm not victim (rather slave, joke).
    I'm passionless observer.

  11. Randy,
I am the ONLY reason that I struggle with money! It is staring me in the face and now I have to make a decision and move on it. Procrastination, fear of making a mistake, frustrated perfectionism have kept me in the "one step forward, three steps back" mode all my life. I fell into that hole, again, yesterday, big time! But this time (thanks to you) I could identify how I got there and what I could do to keep that from happening again.
I am saying it here and now... I am responsible for my own lack or wealth and the choices I make!
    Lead on!

  12. Wow, Randy I just stared reading your blogs a week ago and things are starting to sink in and of course this was right after a tremendous meeting with my network marketing group about how our attitude and our mental thoughts affect our future. I'm having a change in attitude. I deserve wealth and I don't deserve to sit and work in this 9-6 cubicle with a moron for a boss who thinks he is holier than thou and his sh** doesn't stink. I'm done. It's time to take care of ME. 🙂

  13. LOL! Maybe I should... in FACT- Here's one of those opportunities!

YES- I am starting a matchmaker service for HIGH-END MLM rockstars- $5,000,000 non-refundable consultation,

When I find you a partner, you pay 20% of your bonus checks for as long as you're together.

If I can't find a compatible partner for you, then you pay nothing!

  14. Ari,

You already "see" them because you said that you are "missing them".

If you see an opportunity that interests you check it out.

Connect with the people in that "group" ask questions to the people that are successful and the new people. Gather information.

If you are referring to money when you said "get to a position where I can see them and take advantage".
Ask yourself what you can live without for 3 months, cable, recreation activities, Starbucks? Look at you checkbook or CC statement and you'll find where your intentions and heart is now. if you don't like what you see, you have the power to change it.

    To your success!
    Douglas

  15. "Now if you’re still poor, how does that make you feel?"

    It pisses me off.

And EVERY damned time I end up saying, 'ya, but...' WTF is up with that?

So I'm mulling over this, and the fact that Bones is suggesting that you are trolling for a partner. Ha!

    Namaste'

    Jhanna

  16. -RG,

I’m tired of people telling me they need or want a change that they need to make more money or find a job.

They walk around like blank faced automatons just trudging through life waiting for it to be over.

I present my business plan to them and they are either intrigued at first or they just don’t see the potential.

I know it works, I have plenty of people around me that are very successful at what I do.

Are people just so beaten down that they can’t get up?

What can I do to help them?
    -djm

  17. Now Bones... I'm gonna just put myself out here.

I'm guessing you're trying to find an area of fault in Randy...

It kinda raises your significance and makes you feel better that you have one area that's better than his.

And it's rather hard to find an area- cos he's sexy, gorgeous, dresses gorgeously, humous, loving, kind, fun, sporty, actice, healthy, wealthy, great leader, etc etc... Can you tell that i just LOVE Randy! EVen th he pissed me off too!!!!

Tho the only one thing that he doesn't have is a relationship (or kids - would you ever like kids - that would be an area I could gloat about then?!!!!).... AND he could be like me and be choosing not to have one.

So Randy - is it true - are you struggling? Is that something you're find hard? And wondering how your abandonment gene or single parent syndrome still affects you?

    Fun Bones!

  18. So, the last few days I have kind of let it all hang out...which is not the "norm" for me - I usually talk in generalizations and what if's- but I realize that this whole discussion really boils down to beliefs. The bottom line is I am the sum total result of what I believe about my life and the world around me.

So, the question Randy, is how do we change core beliefs? Let's just say, I have read a bunch of books, went to a bunch of seminars, taken a lot of action and made alot of changes (all true, BTW). BUUUTTT, not much has changed really, just my circumstance. Let me explain. As I said the other day, most people who know me and my wife, would say we are a successful family. When I made $25K per year, I had money trouble, was behind on bills and in debt...but, when I made $250K I had money trouble, was behind on bills and in debt -NOTHING CHANGED REALLY! The difference is in the latter, I am fooling others since I live in a nice home, drive a benz and have nice "stuff".

Now, this did not happen overnight...I did make changes and experienced different results...for instance, there was a time that everyone was paid on time, I had money in the bank, had a small mortgage on my property and was basically debt free beside the mortgage. Now, I am back to the "old guy", but just make more money...it has to be what I believe about myself, which is essentially - I'm Broke...hey wait a minute, didn't I read a book about...oh nevermind.

I guess the answer to your question in your post is, it makes me feel like shit! So, how does one (me) make a lasting change? Change a core belief? Hmmmm.

BTW, do you ever do seminars in the Northeast?

  19. Randy:

I thank you for your insightful questions and answers. People will deal or not deal with their limitations when they are ready. I have enough with dealing with mine to be worry about someone else problems which they are probably not true.
Projecting is another tool of the mind to be stuck where it is.

  20. I luv how you tell it like it is Randy. We're responsible for our life, financial circumstances included. There are only opportunities but many are blind to them. Most prefer to live with the comfort of their blockages instead of removing them and opening their eyes to opportunity.

  21. Love that one. What a different perspective to view how the majority of people in the world live their life daily and teach others to do the same. Really appreciative I have ment mentors and are working with mentors of such a high calibre.

  22. Love that one. What a different perspective to view how the majority of people in the world live their life daily and teach others to do the same. Really appreciative I have met and are working with mentors of such a high calibre.

  23. I do not justify being broke. I understand why I am. And yes it does take a lot of work to stay broke. I work my ass off 40 hours a week for a office supply company. And if you're a good little boy/girl they may or may not give you that 3% raise at the end of the year.. WOO HOO!!! (Bullshit!)

I don't know who said this but it is one of my favorite sayings "Poor is the man whos pleasures depend on the permission of another."

Now that I feel like a new person, released of my my role as a victim. I now feel like I can accomplish the things needed. I have 3 business ventures in the works. Taking all that energy back and using it on myself.

Anyone can do what it takes to 'make it' what ever that may be for you. If you could spew out energy on somebody else's business, and push sales for them. Then you can certainly do that for yourself.

  24. "Are you working to be broke?" Wow that has to be one of the most powerful sentences I have heard in years. Really got me between the eyes. Gonna add this to my quotes file and write it in my journal, to re-read it often. Such a simple sentence that has broken through the fog, shattered illusion and provided fantastic inspiration for us all.

    Randy you are amazing.

(Bones you had me laughing out loud!)

  25. Thanks, Bones, I have a lot of fun reading this, but... I think, there is no way to find the real partner, just finding it. You only could to develop yourself, and only when you will be ready for this - you will meet your real partner. Almost everyday for 5 years I saw my future real partner around myself, but we never talk even over couple of minutes! But after I stoped myself of finding partner, and became ready in my mind and soul for having REAL partner - it was happen, we began to communicate, and through some time we got married. We have a VERY happy family, and can't imagine life without each other, in spite of being for five years in each other noses, and can't see it!

  26. I often feel the same way: "What's wrong with THEM that THEY don't want to get rich- Don't they see they're stopping ME from getting rich"?

But then Randy says "It's YOUR fault that you don't have a growing business"... so, how does that square?

  27. You are totally right- I AM trying to "bring Randy down a peg", because he gets all "Holier than thou" on us sometimes, and I just wanted to bring him back to reality for a second! Yes, it's petty, but I believe I am doing him and us a service by reminding him that we ALL have struggles.

We are ALL broken in some way, and we are here to HEAL each other.

  28. This assumes the "one partner" philosophy, which I totally disagree with- like the "One Opportunity" idea.

There are an inumerable number of GREAT partners for you, and there are an inumerable number of financial opportunities.

I hope Randy sees this; I think he'd agree.

  29. Your ignorance must be blissful! Going around trying to take Randy "down a peg", does that make you feel better about yourself?

I do not feel sorry for you. I feel sorry for the people that have to deal with you on a daily basis. WOW!!! What a handfull you must be.

Keep blaming everything that is wrong with your life on everyone around you.... Lets see how far that gets you.

Trying to take people down, instead of building them up... in turn is only bringing you down.

Randy, I just want to say thank you! for pissing people off. Seems like you touched a nerve. Rock on Rock Star!!!! =)~

  30. Yes I think there are numerous partners for each of us. And to set the record straight, I'm not struggling to find one, so you can all call off the Calvary!

    -RG

  31. Hi! Michèle,
I just began a great opportunity for 99.$ a month.
I work about 12 hours a day since 3 months.
And... I work for aproximatively 0.003$/hr.

    I maked this REAL 🙂

It is not my first GOOD opportunities...eh!eh!

    Good luke to you.
    Fée

  32. (I work my Ass off 40 hours a week...) I laugh every time I hear that. I often work 40 hours in two days...(what some think of is a weeks worth of work).

I am a Yank yet haven't been in my own country almost 8 years, I first saw Randy in Sydney Australia in 2004 and it Changed my life. Yea so I made 100K in 5 months, I also lost it in 6...this is like the 5th time...I know how to make the money- now I need to learn how to be wise. I'm tired of bootstrap land, its time I take the energy and keep it rolling. When I pray I move my feet, and I hustle like a crack head at 7-Eleven at 2am. Now to turn my energy into assets.

  33. Bones,

I don't find him holier than thou. He's deliciously glossy and I want him to stay that way so it rubs off on me... and makes me sparkle. I don't ever want him to come to my level... I want him to be the stepping stone to where I want to go beyond him. And it won't happen by bringng him down to me... only by him bringng me up to him!

Tho if I've called him and something has been up - he's been forward, honest, and real with his concerns and shared what he's doing. He's pretty real, authentic and grounded in goodness and always been very accessible and humourous.

If he had a challenge, would he come here and moan??? No - he goes to health professional to get it dealt with. He's not going to preach one thing and practice another. His teaching isn't "be transparent and authentic" like mine. His teachings are "focus on the good, don't program and repeat the bad.2 S it would be out of alignment of he waxed on about any problems...

When he has a friend die, he shares it as a lesson for all to learn from... and sits in his pain.

When he had jet lag he did tweet something like "this mind over matter stuff isn't working, I am jet lagged." And you look at the photo's and videos of the trip and he's healthy, hapy, gorgeous... and so alive and great. He's truly lapping it up and living his dream.

I laugh at "bring him down to reality a bit" - you want to bring him to YOUR reality - that's not working as well as the gorgeous you would like....

Randy's reality isn't like that... he's on fire, working like a machine... I just wish I lived a little closer so I could see how he does it. I sit and get blown away at how much he can produce on so many fronts in one day.

And that said - there are things that piss me off about him... like that he doesn't get enrolled by my shit, or take personally any of the crap I hurl at him, or get offended by my insults.... And he doesn't engage in my drama. And it's highly irritating. AND I want him to stay up and yank me to be with him... sharing with me how he was each similar step - which he does.... he shares the fears he had, and how he got over them.

He's just broken thru more fears, challenged himself more, and taken one whole loads more of the right action than most folk in the world! It's amazing that he is this accessible. Truly.. We're blessed.

    Love and joy!

  34. BOnes -I love you being a handful..../

AND I recall somewhere someone saying that if you are doing that then it's stopping you from becoming successful.....

For instance if you see someone rich, send them light and love.

If youa re attacking you're pushing your good away....

It may be a big key there for you gorgeous man!

ANd hey - what do I know... I'm the lady!

    xox

  35. Everyone choose which philosophy to assume, but that philosophy is better, which will bring you to better results. The best way to choose is ask yourself. If answer will come from the mind, it most likely be wrong. But if answer will come from the soul, it will be right.

    Sincerely, Krono.

  36. The MLM being great bit is bang on! My kids only understand MLM and product creation though!! I think I've brainwashed them thoroughly so a 'real biz' is not even in the equation... and who knows what they think of jobs after listening to my Jim Rohn and Randy tapes in the car for most of their lives... I am under pressure though as my little one often says in a long suffering kind of way 'when are we going to be rich mum?' ha ha

  37. Well it looks like you are nominated for saint hood by Natalie (wow I thought I was a constant fan but Natalie girl you have taken it to a whole new level!)

As far as the partner thing goes I should think you're beating them off with sticks..

  38. If it would be that easy, guys! It looks as a fairy tale and maybe Randy should first try to live as one of the Russians - a regular one - or a regular other person in Eastern Europe.

I understand the power of motivation and the absolute need to be active and pro-active, however if there are no money and no system in place to support you, it is not that easy.

Not to mention corruption which will stop access to a loyt of those opportunities.

Easy to speak when one does not know the landscape. Come from a land of lakes to Arizona and start preaching, "there is water everywhere, you just have to look". Every 30 minutes you will go by a place where is water under etc, etc....

Let's get real guys. There are opportunities everywhere but in some places and in some context, the access to is not that easy

Therefore one can inffer that the opportunities are there but not abundant as per all this blog.

  39. You will not stay broke if you land one of the many six-figure sales jobs posted at GorillaMed ! Russia may have lots of money, but for thos of us living in America, finding a high-paying job in these tough times in not easy. Visit "The Gorilla" for some answwers.

      Lead on!
