Action for Success

Posted By: Randy GageFebruary 25, 2013

There is a place for mission statements.  I think.  Certainly everyone needs a vision.  But if you believe the thing holding your organization back is that you haven’t brought in the right consultant to clarify your mission statement – you’re in big trouble.

Truth is, most companies only look at stuff like that because they’re stuck.  They’ve lost their innovative, action-centered mindset.  They’ve stopped taking risks and are looking for the safe way to proceed.  They’re stuck in a rut and looking for a mission, vision or values that will pull them forward.  But those things don’t pull you forward.

Action pulls you forward.

But action isn’t safe.  And it’s usually messy.  Doesn’t follow the preconceived plan.

In every great achievement there is one commonality: Someone made a bold decision to act.

  1. What I see a LOT - is that people are taking action - SO MUCH ACTION - that there is almost NO TIME left (or energy) to take even more action in the direction of their dreams. E.g. normal work is SO great a load timewice  to make time for Network Marketing, and even though they are enthusiastic about it - it prevents an actual start! It's NOT because they are lazy. How do you turn that around, before they go into despair over failing to actually get started?

  3. if we want different results, then maybe we need to change our thoughts first, so we take the right actions & get the right results.

I agree 100% with what you say here. I see people Taking Action, Taking Action....and getting bogged down or derailed by the subsequent messiness. We gotta' change our mindsets & emotionsets first, then take Action.

  5. Those are really good questions raised in the comments today.  I read once in (OH Darn, I forgot the title),it was a Depression workbook, that action preceded motivation.  So, you have to take action before you do more action.  That seems like a catch-22, it isn't though, you just have to have courage and determination I think.

As for Actions that get you nowhere fast,  those are really not the actions I think Randy is talking about.  Those are distractions from our real goals. (I do this a lot myself)  These are just ways to keep us in our comfort zones.  The "Actions" that pull you forward are the ones that are scary and unknown usually.

Yes, I also think you should think before you act.  (I bet Randy is sighing about right now)  (Yeah, I have acted and thought later, not a good Idea.)

This is a lot of information that I preach and haven't always done, but after all today is a new Day! @BerniceTempleman1 @LeneJytteHansen @MrsHealthandProsperity

I do not think of who sighs at who and why! Tells more about the one being judgemental than it does about the person, wanting to get an answer to a problem, that is relevant for a lot of people - AND I do not think Randy is sighing, he has been there himself and know how it is to be in this situation. SO I think he is very capable to answer what any way solved this problem for him and what he did to get past this point. But thank's for giving your oppinion Annie.

      1. @LeneJytteHansen Maybe, I misunderstand, but I wasn't writing that Randy was sighing at any of you, or the people writing here today, just me.  I tease Randy Gage, I have written lots of crazy things on his blog, by acting and thinking later, that is all I meant.

      2. @LeneJytteHansen  I erased my comment, I am thinking I didn't read the comments well enough, or the post.  I can be a little ditzy sometimes. 🙂

  7. Having the OVERALL Outcomes is One Thing... Thinking Your Mission statement is Strictly Your Path is another... Being OPEN to going with the Flow of the times we are in is Vital... Which could mean your Mission Statement is every evolving...

  9. Love your last line..

Action defeats fear but most of all action will ensure you fail and the more you fail, you more you will learn..

Action is the B and End all. There are so many gifted people who should be so rich but they never simply acted and on the other hand, you have average people who are comfortable with failing and they end up earning millions..

  12. Its like when you are working in MLM and you get stuck at a certain level and you think redesigning a brochure and a new system will get you more results ... only consistent AND UNCOMFORTABLE action of doing the same thing you have always done (in our case talking to new people) WILL GET THE RESULTS. Thanks Randy!
