9 Insights for a Life Worth Living

Posted By: Randy GageOctober 23, 2015

I have survived the dark night of my soul.

Three weeks ago I had spinal surgeries number three and four. Having already done two, you’d think I’d have been prepared for what to expect. At least I thought so. But life sometimes likes to throw you a curve ball…

Because one surgery was a re-do with scar tissue, and the other had a herniated disc with a bone spur, both operations required actually moving the nerve during the surgery. This lit up those nerves like electricity, even ten days later. Also, the first two times they gave me a steroid shot during the surgery to reduce inflammation. Recently the FDA forbid this. And because I refuse to take narcotics, I went through a week of the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced. Worse even than when I was shot.

But all that’s behind me now…

I’m on the mend, stronger, wiser and grateful. I’m savoring the simple pleasures of watching the sunrise, taking introspective walks, and deep study in some of the timeless classics of spirituality, personal growth and self-development.  I'm watching the baseball playoffs and catching up with friends and family.

I’m appreciative of the work the medical staff did on me, eager to heal faster, and profoundly grateful for all the love, prayers and support I received along the way. I also have a large dose of gratitude, for the millions of people around the world who believe in my work. It inspires me even more to keep earning your trust.

So I wanted to post this journal, to share with you some of what I’m thinking and feeling right now, on what it takes to live a life of prosperity, joy, and significance.

9 Insights for a Life Worth Living...

1) Challenge Yourself More.

No one ever had a momentous breakthrough in their comfort zone and you won’t be the first. Face the things that terrify you and your courage will grow each time. Fear is okay. Simply channel it toward what it is you want to accomplish.

It’s time to take back your power. Mastery comes from going to, and sometimes past, the breaking point. Usually it is the failures, not the successes, which make you stronger.

2) Take Care of the Packaging.

If you want to be amazing, world-class, or extraordinary at anything, you need a body that can keep up with your mind. So take care of it, strengthen it and feed it. Eat for energy. Get adequate rest. Exercise every day. Get proper medical, dental, and chiropractic care. Schedule a weekly massage.

3) Pay the Price for Prosperity.

Don’t look for shortcuts or think you’re entitled to anything. All you’re entitled to is the wondrous, joyous opportunity to provide value for others, with complete assurance that the principles that govern prosperity ensure you will create it. The only free cheese is in the mousetrap. Success never goes on sale; be willing to pay the market price.

4) Grow Your Mind and Your Mindset.

Do math games, Sudoku, crossword, Letterpress or other fun ways to hone your mental acuity. Develop friendships with people smarter than you are. Read for at least 30 minutes every single day. This will stimulate your critical thinking abilities, help you excel at pretty much everything, and make you a better human being.

The way to manifest prosperity is solving problems and adding value. And the way you do that is to keep growing, nurturing your genius, developing new skills, and gaining more wisdom. If you work on growing yourself every day, your prosperity will follow suit.

5) Become Your Biggest Fan.

Your income, responsibilities, rank, or titles will never exceed your self-identity – how you see yourself.  If necessary, borrow my belief in you until you have it for yourself. See yourself as successful and expect success. That is your natural destiny. There are enough people who will criticize, doubt or ridicule you; you don’t need to be one of them!

6) Live with Gratitude.

Do more things that bring joy to your life. Be kind to strangers. Be kind to your family. Be kind to yourself!

Begin every day with a reflection on the many things you have to be grateful for. This sets your mindset to have a harmonious day and attracts more things to be thankful for. And always make the time to thank those who believed in you and offered encouragement along the way.

Listen for the birds singing, schedule a sunrise, smell the fragrance of the foliage, and notice the little things like the scenery, the playful puppy, or the laughing baby. Stop looking for the flaws in people and search for the beauty.

7) Give Yourself Credit.

Stop comparing yourself to others with different circumstances and stop beating yourself up with how far you have to go. Focus on how far you’ve come already and resolve to enjoy the rest of the journey.

8) Surround Yourself with Beauty and Harmony.

Look at less news and more art. Keep fresh flowers in your home. Set up your workspace to inspire creativity. Skip a night with television and replace it with an evening at the opera, symphony or ballet. Schedule time to sit and think.

9) Take Responsibility for It All.

Your wealth is not determined by your boss, the government, or the economy. And your success and happiness are not restricted by your ex-spouse, age, sexuality, race, or nationality. Your environment influences your results. You however, create them.

Blaming others is usually a cop-out from accepting personal responsibility. Take responsibility for the bad things, and recognize the part you played. Learn from the past, but don’t live there. And give yourself credit for the good things. And know ultimately – they’re all good things.

These nine insights are my wish for you, so you will accept the abundance that is your birthright. Go out and be amazing!

Peace,

- RG

  1. Randy_Gage this journal is amazing, 9 insights, you should include this into your new book if it's not already included!

  2. Oh Randy, I hope the pain is better now! And thank you for lending me your belief all those years ago. I still have it as my support.

  3. Love that you're studying the classic spiritual texts. I'm reading the two volumes of Ektnar Easwaran's "The Bahgvad Gita for Daily Living" which I received in my youth while visiting the ashram in Berkeley here years ago.. VERY illuminating and real world interpretation. Also stumbled across an amazing book about Einstein and for the first time ever I finally understand his concepts which are mind blowing! Gratitude is the one thing we must ALL focus upon as you say. Living here in the beautiful Bay area I truly have much to be grateful for.. Thanks Randy and glad you're healing and surrendering.

  4. Thanks Randy. As always, you continue to inspire. Good luck and prayers to you in a speedy recovery 😉

  5. I've been watching your you tube videos, and following you for a while now. You have been an inspiration to me. This was after I read your book, and read that you also had been shot. Among other things, it helped me put the past where it belongs, in the rear view mirror, gone. I had trouble moving forward, no longer is that the case .I had  Fear of success, not failure. Congrats on getting through this without the pain meds

  6. Outstanding insights my friend -- great stuff -- thank you!! Very glad to hear you're feeling better. Pennie and I are sending you lots of love and light for a speedy and full recovery -- better than ever!! I look forward to seeing you next month at Mastermind. Warmest regards, Bob Quintana

  7. Excellent! I love the way in which it's broken down into simple, uncomplicated steps anybody can take. We have been programmed to believe that living in our fulness is a difficult task that can only be achieved by the lucky few. Thank you so much for the reminder that we can all make it, and make it big.

  8. Many people including myself, post great insights, quotes, truisms on twitter. Most are helpful, most are repeated endlessly. It's a good thing too! Repeated exposure to wisdom insights are potent to effect change.

These insights, however, backed by your audascious "Prosperity Demonstration", RG, have so much more clout!
#grateful to be inspired by your inspiration!

Prayers and healing thoughts for you my friend!

  9. Thanks Randy,  inspiration when I needed it,
strengthened by your belief in your beliefs.
Sending you positive thoughts through the unseen universe in gratitude of who you are.
I've been inspired by your inspiration. Take  care and be well

  10. Simply excellent. When Your adoptive son was 7 years old I teach him what You teach me: I create my own life.

    Paz,
    - RG
