I do believe that the choices we make are ours to own. Happiness, however, is something that eludes most of us, not because it is a choice, or because it doesn't exist as an option, but because we look for it in all the wrong places. What is happiness to one, may not be happiness to another, so we lead this endless loop of trying to find it, yet never really experiencing it. I see so many people outwardly making a huge effort to be happy, but happiness or what I prefer to define it as "joy", is not there. We fool ourselves into thinking we are happy for others. WHY? Let's get raw and honest, at least with ourselves. Most every one can see true authenticity. It's rare, that's why we notice it when we see it. Until you stop trying to be the someone you think every one else wants you to be, you will never find joy. Joy is a fruit of the spirit. It is given, not manufactured. We all have a void deep inside us that only God can fill and we can fool ourselves our entire lives trying to think we can manufacture it, but at the end of the day we were created to be a vessel for God to fill, and God is the only one who can fill it.

This is not the place to post Jesus freak shit.
Paul, I appreciate your participation here and love to see robust discussion. Let's please keep the debate on the ideas, and not on the people making the points. - RG
This is a great post. It was one of the first things I learned as I grew up. That I had a choice. That there was always a choice. Not only about careers but about anything and everything. And I could choose what I wanted. If you choose things to please others not only will you be miserable but you won’t grow into the person you are meant to be. I disagree with Mary re happiness. I think we can choose to be happy. And if you’re doing what you love then you are happy. Love and peace Randy ❤️
You are correct. Mary's requirement for happiness is completely contrary to what Randy is trying to dispel here. She needs something other than herself, in this case, a supernatural being with male genitalia, to make her happy. Randy is trying to convey to people that they do not need extraneous factors come happy. They need to make the choice to become happy. Some people will never get it that is why you have so many supporters of Trump.
