You Be the Editor
Send to Kindleby Randy Gage
Hey guys, I need your help, if you’re willing. My publisher is pushing for me to finalize my next book for them. And naturally I have about 27 floating around in my cerebral cortex that I’d love to write. They’re looking for one.
Which is where YOU come in…
Would you be so kind to give me your honest feedback? Put yourself in this picture: You walk into your local bookstore. You see the five book titles below displayed on a table. Which one would you want to read first?
Since you’re familiar with my work, I value your opinion greatly and would love to learn what book would be the most exciting to you. Since most book decisions are made by title and the dust jacket, I’m not explaining them in depth. Just go by the title and sub-titles.
One more thing. Please.
If you’re surrounded by negative people and this blog is your only connection to positivity, let’s keep this between us! But if your social media circle is filled with others into self-development and personal growth – would you please use the share buttons to circulate this to your world? The more feedback from people on the prosperity path, the better.
Okay ready? Take a breath. You walk into the bookstore. There’s a big table in the front and there are five books, all by me. Which one would you want to read first, second and going on from there?
Would you reply in the comments below, listing your order of preference, with one being your first choice you would want to read first, two being your second choice, etc. If there are some you wouldn’t care to read at all, then leave them off your list.
The choices are:
A) Take Your Power Back! Move from Victim to Victor
B) Walk with the Ashim: Join the Crusade for Peace and Prosperity
C) Safe is the New Risky… Creating Wealth in the New Economy
D) Get Off the Cross – We Need the Wood! Letting Go of Victim-Hood
E) Way of the Jedi: A Manifesto to Restore Peace & Prosperity to the Universe
So, you’re in charge: please list the books in the order of your preference. Then when I see you next, I owe you a hug!

The elephant is a dainty bird, It hops from limb to limb, It builds it's nest in a rhubarb tree and whistles like a cow. (Author: famous poet)..Somehow cows and the pleasure of literature are at odds. Think you not?
Any order for the bookcase. What pleasure it is to meander through a bookcase and find the gems that inspire the mind, bring instant pleasure to the senses, or just enjoy the read. Who says we're just another animal species.
Kudos for using crowd sourcing for input.
Love reading the breadth of responses. Reading the breadth reminds me of why magazines will use different covers for certain issues. Most of us relate to content in the context of our own hopes, dreams, fears, etc. And, we are so bombarded with information that we frequently don't even see info that is not relevant to those hopes, dreams and fears.
Ultimately, I see the optimum title being best decided by what you want for a target market and how you want to be perceived by that market.
Because I want a hug the next time I see you, I will nevertheless vote. C would be my first choice, by miles because I think it would attract the broadest market, and I so want your wisdom to be (even) more widely known.
Your work on victimhood is much needed, but so many of us don't recognize how subliminally this is working on us even as we publicly reject the notion of being a victim. Many more need to read your wisdom on this subject than will likely buy the book. So, I will go with A then D next.
For reasons others have already so clearly stated, I see B and E as problematic.
So, CADBE. With no interest in being what I just proclaimed. :)
Finally, trust that you will be careful with my vote. After I all, I chose "safe," which as you thoughtfully point out, is the new risky.
Love you friend for all the wisdom and nudging you bring to this world. Looking forward to reading this book.
Missed the EAv mission, but as a writer myself ... I'll play!
Clear winner AFAIC is (C) - clear, snappy, talks to a wide audience
Why (C) above others?
(A) won't connect solidly w/a biz audience, you'll wind up w/refugees from the self-esteem movement (don't get me started on self-esteem #fail. It's SELF WORTH, self-esteem is bullshit solipcism)
(B) a title that requires explanation never works
(D) funny, but kind of limited
(E) nah, don't use someone else's brand equity to build your own. Might draw the gimlet eye of Lucasfilm's lawyers ...
1. Safe is the New Risky
2. Take your Power Back
3. Get off the Cross - We Need the Wood (catchy title!!)
4. Take Your Power Back
5. Way of the Jedi
1. Safe is the New Risky… Creating Wealth in the New Economy
2. Take Your Power Back! Move from Victim to Victor
3. Get Off the Cross – We Need the Wood! Letting Go of Victim-Hood
4. Way of the Jedi: A Manifesto to Restore Peace & Prosperity to the Universe
5. Walk with the Ashim: Join the Crusade for Peace and Prosperity
Hi Randy,
Can't wait to see your new book. Best title in MHO would be:
#1 - C#2 - E#3 - A#4 - D#5 - B
~Karen
Dear Randy, we would like A and E and B! And we enjoy it very much! :) Timi, Ági, Eszter
C, I Thing people belive if they have de money in the bank it´s oki, but the economi is geting works so you have to move it... take some risk,
dude seriously "Way Of The Jedi" is excelent because it is fresh, modern, catchy and everybody is in to that jedi mastermind secret formula stuff, the other titles are so old school and boring
Randy,
"A" Definitely! Other ones are great, but this one is the Best Focus for the Fulcrum!
Much Success!
Nichole
Hi Randy, from the given list I'd choose C-A. To be honest, I suppose B is too religious for this rushing world, D preferably seems poetic rebellious, while E is more appealling for Jedi-fans. An alternative title may inspire you: "Take Your Power Back! - Create Prosperity to the Universe" But you know, name it anyhow, it will be great for sure and I'm looking forward to buying it!! :))) Best wishes to You! Zsani
Randy I loved them all. Sorry man I think you just need to sit your butt down and pop them all out. The world needs you! Easily said as I am on my third month of procrastination on mine!
C. Safe is the New Risky… Creating Wealth in the New Economy E) Way of the Jedi: A Manifesto to Restore Peace & Prosperity to the Universe Thanks for including us really! I like C the most, yet to be honest and to help you sell more books, these titles are a little over-used for those of us who buy these type of books and sound a little too much like past books you have written. These titles don't really make me want to buy the books, sound kind of fluffy. Whatever you do write about, please make it fresh and different from your other content because I have purchased many of your products and am looking for insights that are new, fresh and different. I am so tired of "new" books coming out with the same frivolity, lacking how-to's and truly novel insights. Below are just some ideas to hopefully spark something...They are not polished, but could have potential. "Get over Your Self, Stop Tripping Over Insecurities... Your Confidence Wants You Back!" "Stop Being Boring! Safety is the New Death Kiss in Society." "The Information Age Is Still A Virgin, How to Grow Up Financially Before It's Too Late!"
Safe is the New Risky. I would read anything you wrote because I respect you for telling it like it is instead of what we want to hear.
#4, I don't like any of the others and $5 might get you sued. To be 100% honest I think you need to keep looking, None of these really grab.
I think A really speaks to a lot of people right now.
B is an obscure reference... sounds like something on the bargain shelf at a Unity bookstore, not a bestseller.
C has appeal, but in the "get rich quick" kind of way.
D I think some people will find offensive... maybe not your target audience, but maybe so, so...
E Although Lucasfilms doesn't actually have a trademark on "Jedi", it seems like it might be asking for problems.
So... A, definitely A!
A,C,D,E,B, but of course I don't know what you are talking exactly but I'll grab the A for first
A C B E D - without knowing the material
D is only if you want to create controversy that may distract from the material
E is a bit overused now
Take your Power Back
Way of the Jedi
Safe is the New Risky
Get off the Cross - We need the wood
Walk with Ashim
Not sure where you got these last 3 from but they just really aren't you, Randy. Hope it helps:)
Hey Randy:
Actually, I'd go another direction.
Why not trade off your name and have The True Wealth Gauge for Making More Money, Making More Meaning.
You could create a proprietary visual graphic/grid (your True Wealth Gauge) so people could use metrics to track their money and meaning so they get more of both.
Since you're introducing a first-of-its-kind visual methodology; you could monetize, merchandise and license your system in perpetuity ... which would scale its impact and income.
And, of course, playing off your name increases name/brand recognition and profile and keeps you, Randy Gage, top of mind with millions of people around the world who are using your system.
Whatcha' think?

@SamHorn Thanks Sam, that's a great, creative idea. It's not the kind of book I'd write though with metrics and financial planning stuff, but I appreciate your creativity. -RG
